•Develop a novel score function of hesitant probabilistic fuzzy element, which can fully reflect the dispersion degree and the overall characteristic of an HPFE.•Develop a novel weight determination ...model based on minimum relative entropy principle, which considers both subjective factors and objective information.•A new decision making method combining hesitant probabilistic fuzzy sets and prospect theory is proposed.
The hesitant fuzzy element (HFE), as an extension of fuzzy numbers, has received much attention and the occurrence probabilities of each membership in the HFEs are assumed to be equal, i.e., the decision makers (DMs) share the same preference for each membership. Anecdotal observations suggest otherwise. To address this issue, the hesitant probabilistic fuzzy set (HPFS) is proposed, which is more suitable for depicting the DMs’ preferences in decision making. Research reports that psychological behavior matters in the decision-making process. Consequently, this paper proposes a multi-attribute group decision making method under a hesitant probabilistic fuzzy environment that considers the DMs’ psychological state in the decision-making process. A weights determination model is constructed, incorporating objective decision-making information and the subjective preferences of the DMs based on a score function and the minimum relative entropy principle. Finally, an established case example is applied to validate the applicability of the proposed method, and comparative analysis is also completed to verify the validity of the proposed method.

Objective
To explore the value of CT texture analysis (CTTA) for determining coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) severity.
Methods
The clinical and CT data of 81 patients with COVID-19 were ...retrospectively analyzed. The texture features were extracted using LK2.1. The two-sample
t
test or Mann–Whitney
U
test was used to find the significant features. Minimum redundancy and maximum relevance (MRMR) method was performed to find the features with maximum correlation and minimum redundancy. These features were then used to construct a radiomics texture model to discriminate the severe patients using multivariate logistic regression method. Besides, a clinical model was also built. ROC analyses were conducted to evaluate the performance of two models. The correlations of clinical features and textural features were analyzed using the Spearman correlation analysis.
Results
Of the total cases included, 60 were common and 21 were severe. (1) For textural features, 20 radiomics features selected by MRMR showed good performance in discriminating the two groups (AUC > 70%). (2) For clinical features, chi-square tests or Mann–Whitney
U
tests identified 16 clinical features as significant, and 12 were discriminative (
p
< 0.05) between two groups analyzed by univariate logistic analysis. Of these, 10 had an AUC > 70%. (3) Prediction models for textural features and clinical features were established, and both showed high predictive accuracy. The AUC values of textural features and clinical features were 0.93 (0.86–1.00) and 0.95 (0.95–0.99), respectively. (4) The Spearman correlation analysis showed that most textural and clinical features had above-moderate correlations with disease severity (> 0.4).
Conclusion
Texture analysis can provide reliable and objective information for differential diagnosis of COVID-19.
Key Points
•
CT texture analysis can well differentiate common and severe COVID-19 patients.
•
Some textural features showed above-moderate correlations with clinical factors.
•
CT texture analysis can provide useful information to judge the severity of COVID-19.
The construction of C(sp3)‐sulfonyl bonds through direct sulfonylation of C(sp3)−H bond presents a number of challenges, so an electrochemical oxidation‐induced direct sulfonylation of the xanthene ...C(sp3)−H bond was developed. Significant advantages of this method are high atom efficiency, functional group tolerance, transition metal‐ and oxidant‐free conditions. The in vitro cytotoxicity of all product is evaluated by MTT assay against human cancer cell lines. The results reveal that most of the compounds 3 da and 3 af have good inhibitory activity on tumor cell lines.
Metastatic tumors have been shown to establish a supportive pre-metastatic niche (PMN) in distant organs, which in turn determines disseminated tumor cells' targeting of such organs. PMN is formed ...through the recruitment of bone-marrow-derived cells (BMDCs); however, the role of BMDCs in PMN formation is not fully understood. On the basis of RNA-seq data and bioinformatic analysis, secretion of extracellular vesicle (EV) miR-92a by BMDCs of lung cancer-bearing mice contributes to the establishment of liver PMN. Both BMDC-derived EVs and miR-92a mimics potentiate the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), subsequently increasing extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition in mice. Consequently, remodeling of the liver microenvironment enhanced immunosuppressive cell accumulation and cancer cell attachment. EVs miR-92a directly suppressed its target SMAD7, leading to the enhancement of transforming growth factor-β signaling in HSC. Elevated levels of circulating miR-92a are found in the sera of lung cancer patients, and EVs isolated from these patients have a similar ability to increase HSCs activation and ECM protein expression. Our study reveals the sequential steps of liver PMN formation in lung cancer, providing critical mediators that prepare PMN in the liver, and identifies new targets that offer valuable options for diagnosis and therapeutic intervention.
The China Meteorological Administration (CMA)s tropical cyclone (TC) database includes not only the best-track dataset but also TC-induced wind and precipitation data. This article summarizes the ...characteristics and key technical details of the CMA TC database. In addition to the best-track data, other phenomena that occurred with the TCs are also recorded in the dataset, such as the subcenters, extratropical transitions, outer-range severe winds associated with TCs over the South China Sea, and coastal severe winds associated with TCs landfalling in China. These data provide additional information for researchers. The TC-induced wind and precipitation data, which map the distribution of severe wind and rainfall, are also helpful for investigating the impacts of TCs. The study also considers the changing reliability of the various data sources used since the database was created and the potential causes of temporal and spatial inhomogeneities within the datasets. Because of the greater number of observations available for analysis, the CMA TC database is likely to be more accurate and complete over the offshore and land areas of China than over the open ocean. Temporal inhomogeneities were induced primarily by changes to the nature and quality of the input data, such as the development of a weather observation network in China and the use of satellite image analysis to replace the original aircraft reconnaissance data. Furthermore, technical and factitious changes, such as to the windpressure relationship and the satellite-derived current intensity (CI) numberintensity conversion, also led to inhomogeneities within the datasets.

Meropenem belongs to the carbapenem class, which is categorized as beta-lactam antibiotics. These antibiotics are administered in intermittent bolus doses at specific time intervals. However, the ...continuous infusion approach ensures sustained drug exposure, maintaining the drug concentration above the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) throughout the entire treatment period. This study aimed to find out the association between continuous infusions of meropenem and mortality rates.
We conducted a search of the PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Central, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases up to 14 August 2023. The six randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were identified and included in our analysis. The random-effects model was implemented using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software to examine the outcomes.
Our study included a total of 1,529 adult patients from six randomized controlled trials. The primary outcome indicated that continuous infusion of meropenem did not lead to reduction in the mortality rate (odds ratio = 0.844, 95% CI: 0.671-1.061,
=0.147). Secondary outcomes revealed no significant differences in ICU length of stay (LOS), ICU mortality, clinical cure, or adverse events between continuous infusion and traditional intermittent bolus strategies of meropenem. Notably, we observed significant improvements in bacterial eradication (odds ratio 19 = 2.207, 95% CI: 1.467-3.320,
< 0.001) with continuous infusion of meropenem. Our study also suggested that performing continuous infusion may lead to better bacterial eradication effects in resistant pathogens (coefficient: 2.5175,
= 0.0138
).
Continuous infusion of meropenem did not result in the reduction of mortality rates but showed potential in improving bacterial eradication. Furthermore, this strategy may be particularly beneficial for achieving better bacterial eradication, especially in cases involving resistant pathogens.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) led to a life-threatening form of atypical pneumonia in late 2002. Following that, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) has recently ...emerged, killing about 36% of patients infected globally, mainly in Saudi Arabia and South Korea. Based on a scaffold we reported for inhibiting neuraminidase (NA), we synthesized the analogues and identified compounds with low micromolar inhibitory activity against 3CLpro of SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. Docking studies show that a carboxylate present at either R1 or R4 destabilizes the oxyanion hole in the 3CLpro. Interestingly, 3f, 3g and 3m could inhibit both NA and 3CLpro and serve as a starting point to develop broad-spectrum antiviral agents.
An efficient electrochemical transformation of structurally diverse sulfonyl hydrazides and thiols into thiosulfonates in the presence of ammonium iodide as redox catalyst and electrolyte in ...acetonitrile at ambient temperature is reported. Transition metal- and oxidant-free conditions are the striking features of this protocol. The in vitro cytotoxicity of all compounds is evaluated by MTT assay against four human cancer cell lines. The results reveal that 3ac and 3ag exhibit potential inhibitory activity against tumor cells. Furthermore, 3ag inhibits cell migration ability and tubulin polymerization in T-24 cells, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.
•This paper studied the wind power production in an urban area.•On-site measurements were conducted to validate the simulated results.•CFD procedures were formed to determine mounting sites and power ...estimates.
There is great potential in the use of urban wind energy to form electricity generation modules over a distribution network to maximize wind power production in densely urbanized areas. The objective of this study is to therefore develop computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based evaluation procedures to determine potential mounting sites of wind turbines and obtain estimates of wind power by taking into consideration the details of the local urban topography and boundary conditions of micro-environments. The predictions, including those of the wind velocity and direction as well as turbulence intensity, are compared with field measurements via ultrasonic anemometers and thermal flow velocity probes at 10 monitored sites over five different floors inside an objective building to validate the computational model as well as attain a better understanding of the interaction of the wind with buildings in a complex terrain. The predicted power density and turbulence intensity profiles are then used to analyze the power density, turbulence intensity and lowest mounting height for optimizing the potential mounting sites and estimates of wind power. The suggested deployment solution of using CFD for wind turbines on the studied site is clearly different from those suggested in the literature and their deficiency in providing optimum mounting sites in micro-environments. Moreover, an improved roof design with a rounded shape is proposed for the enhancement of wind power density with relatively lower turbulence intensity.
