Granular blast furnace slag (GS) is a glassy substance formed when the slag melted in blast furnace ironmaking is not crystallized within time. An alkaline activator can show high hydraulic hardness ...in an alkaline environment. Using industrial wastes such as GS and fly ash (FA) to solidify dredged sludge (DS) is an economical and environmentally friendly solution. This study investigates the effectiveness of sodium hydroxide (SH) on the strength development of cement-bound industrial waste to stabilize DS. The effects of SH content on strength, atterberg limits, cohesion, and internal friction angle were analyzed. In addition, microstructural analysis was carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and x-ray diffraction experiments (XRD). Thermal gravimetry (TG) and derivative thermal gravimetry (DTG) was carried out to analyze the decomposition properties of the stabilized soil. The results show that SH's content significantly affects the solidified DS, and the UCS of stabilized soil increases with the increase in SH content. In addition, the SH content had no noticeable effect on the cohesion between particles. However, with the increase of SH content, the internal friction angle increased significantly, improving the solidified DS's shear strength.
Radiotherapy (RT) is the primary treatment for prostate cancer (PCa); however, the emergence of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) often leads to treatment failure and cancer-related deaths. ...In this study, we aimed to explore the use of microwave hyperthermia (MW-HT) to sensitize PCa to RT and investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms.
We developed a dedicated MW-HT heating setup, created an
and
MW-HT + RT treatment model for CRPC. We evaluated PC3 cell proliferation using CCK-8, colony experiments, DAPI staining, comet assay and ROS detection method. We also monitored nude mouse models of PCa during treatment, measured tumor weight, and calculated the tumor inhibition rate. Western blotting was used to detect DNA damage repair protein expression in PC3 cells and transplanted tumors.
Compared to control, PC3 cell survival and clone formation rates decreased in RT + MW-HT group, demonstrating significant increase in apoptosis, ROS levels, and DNA damage. Lower tumor volumes and weights were observed in treatment groups. Ki-67 expression level was reduced in all treatment groups, with significant decrease in RT + MW-HT groups. The most significant apoptosis induction was confirmed in RT + MW-HT group by TUNEL staining. Protein expression levels of DNA-PKcs, ATM, ATR, and P53/P21 signaling pathways significantly decreased in RT + MW-HT groups.
MW-HT + RT treatment significantly inhibited DNA damage repair by downregulating DNA-PKcs, ATM, ATR, and P53/P21 signaling pathways, leading to increased ROS levels, aggravate DNA damage, apoptosis, and necrosis in PC3 cells, a well-established model of CRPC.

To analyse the influence of the start-up mode on the stability of the mixed-flow pump, start-up experiments are performed. And the external characteristic parameters, pressure fluctuation and shaft ...vibration data are collected by a multi-channel synchronous signal acquisition system during start-up. These data are analyzed by the time-frequency analysis method and wavelet partial coherence analysis method. Results reveal a positive correlation between the impeller angular acceleration and the time change rate of external characteristic parameters. During the start-up process, the variation law of the external characteristic parameters similar with the law of impeller rotating speed rise. The amplitude of the shaft vibration has a positive correlation with the start-up acceleration of the impeller. The influence of guide vane pressure fluctuations on the shaft vibrations is greater within 0∼2 s after the start of the mixed-flow pump. With the strart-up time extension, the partial coherence between the shaft vibration and the pressure fluctuations in guide vane is enhanced in low frequency band, which increases the risk of flow-induced vibration of the pump shaft.
Peritoneal metastasis is the most frequent failure in gastric cancer. This study evaluated the role of prophylactic chemotherapeutic hyperthermic intraperitoneal perfusion (CHIP) in patients after D2 ...dissection.
Gastric cancer patients after D2 dissection were enrolled in this study. Patients received either chemotherapy (IV group) or CHIP (CHIP group). Sites of recurrence or metastasis, disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS) and adverse events were evaluated.
Twenty-two patients received CHIP treatment, and 21 patients received chemotherapy alone. The median DFS time was 24.5 and 36.5 months in the IV group and CHIP group (P = 0.044), respectively. The median OS time was 33.1 months in the IV group and not reached in the CHIP group (P = 0.037). We also found that CHIP could reduce the total recurrence/metastasis rate, especially that of peritoneal metastasis. In the subgroup analysis, DFS and OS were both superior in deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) patients than in proficient MMR (pMMR) patients.
This hypothesis-generating study indicates that CHIP might be feasible for gastric cancer patients after D2 resection.

Abstract
Peptide bonds, as the molecular bridges that connect amino acids, are crucial to the formation of proteins. Searches and studies of molecules with embedded peptide-like bonds are thus ...important for the understanding of protein formation in space. Here we report the first tentative detection of propionamide (C

), the largest peptide-like molecule detected in space toward Sagittarius B2(N1) at a position called N1E that is slightly offset from the continuum peak. New laboratory measurements of the propionamide spectrum were carried out in the 9–461 GHz range, which provide good opportunity to check directly for the transition frequencies of detected interstellar lines of propionamide. Our observing result indicates that propionamide emission comes from the warm, compact cores in Sagittarius B2, in which massive protostellars are forming. The column density of propionamide toward Sgr B2(N1E) was derived to be 1.5 × 10

cm

, which is three-fifths of that of acetamide, and one-nineteenth of that of formamide. This detection suggests that large peptide-like molecules can form and survive during star-forming process and may form more complex molecules in the interstellar medium (ISM). The detection of propionamide bodes well for the presence of polypeptides, as well as other complex prebiotic molecules in the ISM.
Abstract
Background
To compare the Ocular surface disease index (OSDI) score, Schirmer I test (SIT), fluorescein break up time (FBUT) and fluorescence staining (FLCS) score of dry eye patients at ...different ages.
Methods
90 eyes of 90 patients with mild to moderate dry eye from September 2020 to September 2021 were retrospectively included and were divided into young group (20–39 years, n = 29), middle-age group (40–59 years, n = 30), and elder group (> 60 years, n = 31). Patients were given a 28-day topical lubricating ocular surface and repair-promoting drugs combined with local physical therapy. Patients were followed up at 7, 14 and 28 days. The OSDI score, SIT, FBUT and FLCS score were examined.
Results
There were differences between the OSDI score in three groups at each time point (all P < 0.001). SIT were different among the three groups (F = 350.61, P < 0.001), and a time effect was found (F = 80.87, P < 0.001). SIT at 14 and 28 days after treatment in middle-age and elder groups were lower than young group (all P < 0.001). SIT at 7, 14 and 28 days in elder group were lower than middle-age group (all P < 0.001). FLCS score was lower at 28 days than other time points (all P < 0.001).
Conclusion
Dry eye patients are given a 28-day topical lubricating ocular surface and repair-promoting drugs combined with local physical therapy, which can promote tear secretion, film stability, and the recovery of corneal integrity. Age affects the treatment effect of mild to moderate dry eye, among which tear secretion is the most significant.
In recent years, there has been a heightened focus on multiplex porosity due to its significant adverse impact on the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy components produced through wire arc ...additive manufacturing (WAAM). This study investigates the impacts of the process parameters and dimension parameters on the relative densities of WAAM 2219 aluminum alloy components by conducting experiments and investigates the changes in high relative density process windows with different dimension parameters. The findings reveal a hierarchy in the influence of various parameters on the relative density of the 2219 aluminum alloy: travel speed (TS), wire feed speed (WFS), the number of printed layers (L), interlayer cooling time (ICT), and theoretical length of weld (TLW). A series of data for analysis was produced through a designed experiment procedure, and on the basis of this, by integrating the data augmentation method with the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm, the relationship among the process parameters, dimension parameters, and relative density was modeled. Furthermore, through leveraging the established model, we analyzed the changes in the optimized process window corresponding to a high relative density with the L. The optimal windows of WFS and TS change when the L reaches a certain value. In contrast, the optimal window of ICT remains consistent despite an increase in the L. Finally, the relative density and mechanical properties of the formed 20-layer specimens within the model-derived window were verified. The relative density of the specimens within the window reached 98.77%, the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) reached 279.96 MPa, and the yield strength (YS) reached 132.77 MPa. This work offers valuable insights for exploring the process window and selecting process parameters through a more economical and faster approach in WAAM aluminum components.
We report the detection of widespread CH2OHCHO and HOCH2CH2OH emission in Galactic center giant molecular cloud Sagittarius B2 using the Shanghai Tianma 65 m Radio Telescope. Our observations show ...for the first time that the spatial distribution of these two important prebiotic molecules extends over 15 arcmin, corresponding to a linear size of approximately 36 pc. These two molecules are not just distributed in or near the hot cores. The abundance of these two molecules seems to decrease from the cold outer region to the central region associated with star formation activity. Results presented here suggest that these two molecules are likely to form through a low temperature process. Recent theoretical and experimental studies demonstrated that prebiotic molecules can be efficiently formed in icy grain mantles through several pathways. However, these complex ice features cannot be directly observed, and most constraints on the ice compositions come from millimeter observations of desorbed ice chemistry products. These results, combined with laboratory studies, strongly support the existence of abundant prebiotic molecules in ices.
Taking the waste high-moisture slurry produced at a construction site in Shanghai as the research object, the pressure filtration effect of the slurry under the condition of agent conditioning was ...studied. First of all, the geotechnical characteristics of the waste slurry under agent conditioning were studied through laboratory experiments, and the selection and addition amount of the agent were preliminarily determined. Then, the influence of agent addition, stirring time, and pressure filtration time on the pressure filtration efficiency was studied through field experiments. Finally, a method to guide the field filtration time by the indoor model test was put forward.

To get a macroscopic understanding of the geotechnical engineering properties of typical marine dredger fill in coastal areas of Shandong Province, China, the mineral composition, particle size ...distribution, cation exchange capacity (CEC), consolidation characteristics, and strength characteristics of dredger fill in four regions, namely Rizhao, Dongying, Weifang, and Yantai, were studied and the correlation between typical indicators of dredger fills in different regions were analyzed. The results show that the difference in soil particle size distribution in Shandong province is related to the regional sedimentation type and dynamic effect and there is a significant correlation between some typical soil indicators. Vane shear strength test and consolidation test results show that the silt in Weifang has good drainage and shear strength indicating it is suitable as dredger fill. For the mucky clay in Rizhao, pharmaceutical vacuum preloading method is recommended to improve soil strength and the reasonable loading size should be less than 200 kPa. The purpose of this paper is to study typical geotechnical properties of four types of dredger fill, find and verify the correlation between some of geotechnical properties, to provide an objective scientific reference basis for the treatment of dredger fill in coastal area from the perspective of dredging and filling engineering.
