In recent years, more and more government administrations around the world are participating in open data policy implementation. Government officials who are charged with implementing this new policy ...usually need to look for related information for deciding what datasets to open to the public. Accordingly, a research gap exists in understanding government officials' information behaviors in implementing open data policy. By using a qualitative approach to conduct semi-structured interviews with government officials who have extensive experience in implementing open data policy, this study explores government officials' information behaviors in searching and selecting datasets for open data publication. Specifically, this research investigates government officials' information needs, the employed information sources, and the intervening variables that influence their information behaviors. While open data is an ongoing policy implementation, government officials' information behaviors form an iterative cycle where information needs continually occur, information seeking activities are conducted by using a variety of information sources, and the obtained information is used to satisfy information needs. The findings and discussions of this study are expected to provide insights of government officials' data search and selection to practitioners and to enrich the current literature of open government data.

Recent studies have suggested that BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) may be associated with the development of urothelial carcinoma. In Merkel cell carcinoma, TAg and tAg are the major viral proteins of Merkel cell polyomavirus with oncogenic potential. In this study, we aimed to distinguish the role of TAg and tAg in cell migration. Our result demonstrated that ERK was phosphorylated in human renal tubular cells expressing its TAg and tAg after BKPyV infection. Treatment with the ERK inhibitor U0126 suppressed BKPyV gene expression and reduced BKPyV replication. Both TAg and tAg induced cell migration via ERK-dependent signaling. Furthermore, the expression of TAg and tAg had a significant regulatory effect on focal adhesion molecules in renal proximal tubular cells, which strongly suggests that alterations in the focal adhesion complexes are critically involved in TAg and tAg-induced cell migration. Gelatin zymography profiling revealed that TAg regulates the expression and activity of MMP-2 and MMP-9, but not tAg. Interestingly, TAg regulates the expression and activity of MMP-9 through ERK signaling, whereas MMP-2 is regulated through an ERK-independent pathway. Unbalanced ERK pathway activity is frequently observed in many cancers, while MMP proteins are usually overexpressed in aggressive tumors. These findings support the view that BKPyV is an oncogenic virus.
Interleukin (IL)-17A is upregulated in several renal diseases and plays a crucial role in renal inflammation. However, it remains unclear how IL-17A contributes to renal fibrosis. Our result ...demonstrated that IL-17A expression was upregulated in the obstructed kidney of unilateral ureter obstruction (UUO) mice when compared to the contralateral control kidney. Inhibition of IL-17A functions by the intravenous administration of an anti-IL-17A receptor antibody (100 μg) 2 h prior to UUO and on post-UUO day 1 and 3 significantly reduced fibronectin expression in the UUO kidney. The addition of IL-17A (25–100 μg) to human renal proximal tubular cells or renal fibroblasts caused an increase in fibronectin production and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)1/2 activation, which were reduced upon pretreatment with the ERK inhibitor U0126. The level of phosphorylated (p)-ERK1/2 was increased in the UUO kidney, but reduced by the administration of the anti-IL-17A receptor antibody, verifying the importance of the ERK pathway in vivo. TGF-β1 mRNA expression and protein were increased in the UUO kidney and in IL-17A–stimulated cultured cells. The administration of an anti-TGF-β1 neutralizing antibody or TGF-β1 receptor I inhibitor (SB431542) to cells abrogated the IL-17A–mediated increase of fibronectin production. IL-17A induced an increase in p-Smad2 and p-Smad3 expression at 7.5 min and 24 h and pretreatment with the anti-TGF-β1 neutralizing antibody, and SB431542 reduced the IL-17A–stimulated increase of p-Smad2. Knockdown of Smad2 or Smad3 expression inhibited the IL-17A–enhanced production of fibronectin. These results suggest an essential role for the TGF-β/Smad pathway in the IL-17A–mediated increase of fibronectin production. This study demonstrates that IL-17A contributes to the production of extracellular matrix, and targeting its associated signaling pathways could provide a therapeutic target for preventing renal fibrosis.

Nevertheless, recent studies find that open data use has not kept with the expectation, and the number of open data applications has been increasing slowly. Accordingly, by using a qualitative research approach to focus on professional reusers, this study explores the determinants that influence professional reusers' intention to use governmental open data. With qualitative empirical data support, the identified determinants are perceived usefulness, perceived effort, external influence, facilitating condition, legislation and license, self-efficacy, and perceived risk. Students who learn evidence-based nursing can assist the healthcare team to make proper medical decisions and provide patients with valuable advice, thus optimizing the quality of patient care in ...specific situations. In clinical work, nursing staff members participate in decision making by searching for relevant empirical nursing literature, a basic ability required to enter clinical practice. In traditional instruction, nursing students are taught the Problem, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome method to learn to use library resources and gather empirical nursing knowledge for decision making. However, it is a challenge for most students to have sufficient practice to make decisions correctly and to have opportunities to perceive medical cases from diverse perspectives. Therefore, we propose a peer assessment-based Problem, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome approach to help nursing students locate correct evidence and make appropriate decisions about patient care. We performed an experiment with our approach in a nursing university training program. The experimental results reveal that the subjects learning with the proposed approach show better evidence-based nursing knowledge, learning attitude, and critical thinking ability than those learning with the traditional approach.
Chikungunya disease results from an infection with the arbovirus, chikungunya virus (CHIKV). Symptoms of CHIKV include fever and persistent, severe arthritis. In recent years, several antiviral drugs ...have been evaluated in clinical trials; however, no registered antivirals have been approved for clinical therapy. In this study, we established a high-throughput screening (HTS) system based on CHIKV 26S mediated insect cell fusion inhibition assay. Our screening system was able to search potential anti-CHIKV drugs in vitro. Using this system, four compounds (niclosamide, nitazoxanide, niflumic acid, tolfenamic acid) were identified. These compounds were then further analyzed using a microneutralization assay. We determined that niclosamide and nitazoxanide exhibit ability to against CHIKV-induced CPE. The anti-CHIKV abilities of these compounds were further confirmed by RT-qPCR and IFA. Moreover, niclosamide and nitazoxanide were found to (1) limit virus entry, (2) inhibit both viral release and cell-to-cell transmission, and (3) possess broad anti-alphavius activities, including against two clinical CHIKV isolates and two alphaviruses: Sindbis virus (SINV) and Semliki forest virus (SFV). In conclusion, our findings suggested that niclosamide and nitazoxanide were able to inhibit CHIKV entry and transmission, which might provide a basis for the development of novel human drug therapies against CHIKV and other alphavirus infections.

Children and adolescents 12 years of age and older who presented with discomfort after BNT162b2 immunization (BNTI) and visited pediatric emergency room (PER) at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital from September 22, 2021 to March 21, 2022, were included for analysis.
681 children presented with discomfort after BNTI and visited our PER. The mean age was 15.1 ± 1.7 years. Three hundred and ninety-four (57.9%) and 287 (42.1%) events were after 1st and 2nd dose, respectively. 58.4% (n = 398) were male. The most common complaints were chest pain (46.7%) and chest tightness (27.0%). The median (interquartile range IQR) interval of discomfort after BNTI was 3.0 (1.0−12.0) days. BNTI-related pericarditis, myocarditis and myopericarditis were diagnosed in 15 (2.2%), 12 (1.8%) and 2 (0.3%) patients, respectively. Eleven (1.6%) needed hospitalization in PICU. The median (IQR) hospital stay was 4.0 (3.0−6.0) days. There was no mortality. More patients were diagnosed myocarditis (p = 0.004) after 2nd dose BNTI. PICU admission occurred more commonly after 2nd dose BNTI (p = 0.007). Risk factors associated with hospitalization in PICU were abnormal EKG findings (p = 0.047) and abnormal serum troponin levels (p = 0.003) at PER.
Myocarditis in children aged 12−18 years occurred more commonly following 2nd dose BNTI. Most cases were of mild or intermediate severity without death. Factors predicting BNTI-related myocarditis and consequent hospitalization in PICU were abnormal EKG findings and abnormal serum troponin levels at PER in this study.

Experimental sessions were conducted, one featuring face-to-face classes and the other featuring video classes. The difference in participants' physiological parameters (blood pressure and heart rate variability) between the two experimental sessions was determined. In the first session, physiological parameters were recorded twice, before and after one teaching course, and the second session took place one month after the first. The first and second sessions had 45 and 27 participants, respectively. Those involved in the first experiment had no experience with meditation, whereas participants in the second experiment had practiced meditation for an average of 9 years (range = 1 to 27 years). Both experiments were conducted once a week, with each session lasting 1.5 h.
For both experiments, both heart rate and heart rate variability by age significantly decreased after one teaching course.

Class I small heat shock proteins (CI sHSPs), OsHsp16.9A and OsHsp18.0, share 74% identity in amino acid sequences and accumulate in response to heat shock treatments. Individual rice transformants ...overexpressing OsHsp16.9A and OsHsp18.0 exhibit distinct thermoprotection/thermotolerance modes. Under high temperature stress, OsHsp16.9A-overexpressing lines showed higher seed germination rate, seedling survival, and pollen germination than wild-type controls, while OsHsp18.0 overexpression provided higher thermoprotection/thermotolerance for seedling survival. To elucidate the functional roles of OsHsp16.9A, mass spectrometry was used to identify OsHsp16.9A-interacting proteins. OsHsp101 was consistently identified in the OsHsp16.9A protein complex in several mass spectrometry analyses of seed proteins from OsHsp16.9A-overexpressing lines. Both OsHsp16.9A and OsHsp101 proteins accumulated during similar developmental stages of rice seeds and formed a heat-stable complex under high temperature treatments in in vitro assays. Co-localization of OsHsp16.9A and OsHsp101 was observed via ratiometric bimolecular fluorescence complementation analyses. Amino acid mutation studies revealed that OsHsp16.9A glutamate residue 74 and amino acid residues 23–36 were essential for OsHsp16.9A–OsHsp101 interaction. Moreover, overexpressing OsHsp16.9A in OsHsp101 knockdown mutants did not increase the seed germination rate under heat stress, which further confirmed the functional roles of OsHsp16.9A–OsHsp101 interaction in conferring thermotolerance to rice plants.
•Development-activated OsHsp16.9A was closely related thermotolerance of rice seeds.•The interaction with OsHsp101 was necessary for OsHsp16.9A to confer thermoprotection.•Glutamate 74 of OsHsp16.9A was responsible for the OsHsp16.9A–OsHsp101 interaction.
