final state, we analyze the weak decays of doubly heavy baryons
Ξ
cc
,
Ω
cc

Ξ
bc

bb
under the flavor SU(3) symmetry. The decay amplitudes for various semileptonic and nonleptonic decays are parametrized in terms of a few SU(3) irreducible amplitudes. We find a number of relations or sum rules between decay widths and CP asymmetries, which can be examined in future measurements at experimental facilities like LHC, Belle II and CEPC. Moreover, once a few decay branching fractions have been measured in the future, some of these relations may provide hints for exploration of new decay modes.

Reactive oxygen species- (ROS-) induced lipid peroxidation plays a critical role in cell death including apoptosis, autophagy, and ferroptosis. This fundamental and conserved mechanism is based on an ...excess of ROS which attacks biomembranes, propagates lipid peroxidation chain reactions, and subsequently induces different types of cell death. A highly evolved sophisticated antioxidant system exists that acts to protect the cells from oxidative damage. In this review, we discussed how ROS propagate lipid peroxidation chain reactions and how the products of lipid peroxidation initiate apoptosis and autophagy in current models. We also discussed the mechanism of lipid peroxidation during ferroptosis, and we summarized lipid peroxidation in pathological conditions of critical illness. We aim to bring a more global and integrative sight to know how different ROS-induced lipid peroxidation occurs among apoptosis, autophagy, and ferroptosis.
Sunitinib resistance is a major challenge for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Understanding the underlying mechanisms and developing effective strategies against sunitinib resistance are highly ...desired in the clinic. Here we identified an lncRNA, named lncARSR (lncRNA Activated in RCC with Sunitinib Resistance), which correlated with clinically poor sunitinib response. lncARSR promoted sunitinib resistance via competitively binding miR-34/miR-449 to facilitate AXL and c-MET expression in RCC cells. Furthermore, bioactive lncARSR could be incorporated into exosomes and transmitted to sensitive cells, thus disseminating sunitinib resistance. Treatment of sunitinib-resistant RCC with locked nucleic acids targeting lncARSR or an AXL/c-MET inhibitor restored sunitinib response. Therefore, lncARSR may serve as a predictor and a potential therapeutic target for sunitinib resistance.

Qu et al. identify lncARSR as a mediator of sunitinib resistance in renal cell carcinoma by acting as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-34 and miR-449, thereby increasing expression of their targets AXL and c-MET, and show that exosome-mediated transmission of lncARSR can confer resistance to sensitive cells.
Li‐CO2 batteries are regarded as next‐generation high‐energy‐density electrochemical devices. However, the greatest challenge arises from the formation of the discharge product, Li2CO3, which would ...accumulate and deactivate heterogenous catalysts to cause huge polarization. Herein, Ru(bpy)3Cl2 was employed as a solution‐phase catalyst for Li‐CO2 batteries and proved to be the most effective one screened so far. Spectroscopy and electrochemical analyses elucidate that the RuII center could interact with both CO2 and amorphous Li2C2O4 intermediate, thus promoting electroreduction process and delaying carbonate transformation. As a result, the charge potential is reduced to 3.86 V and over 60 discharge/charge cycles are achieved with a fixed capacity of 1000 mAh g−1 at a current density of 300 mA g−1. Our work provides a new avenue to improve the electrochemical performance of Li‐CO2 batteries with efficient mobile catalysts.
Ru(bpy)3Cl2 was applied as the first ruthenium‐based mobile catalyst to enhance the electrochemical performance of Li‐CO2 batteries. The RuII catalyst was discovered to interact with both CO2 molecules and amorphous Li2C2O4 intermediate, thus promoting CO2RR and delaying carbonate formation and consequently leading to lowered overpotential, enlarged capacity, and prolonged cyclability of the batteries.
Measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI QKD) removes all detector side channels and enables secure QKD with an untrusted relay. It is suitable for building a star-type quantum ...access network, where the complicated and expensive measurement devices are placed in the central untrusted relay and each user requires only a low-cost transmitter, such as an integrated photonic chip. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a 1.25-GHz silicon photonic chip-based MDI QKD system using polarization encoding. The photonic chip transmitters integrate the necessary encoding components for a standard QKD source. We implement random modulations of polarization states and decoy intensities, and demonstrate a finite-key secret rate of31bit/sover 36-dB channel loss (or 180-km standard fiber). This key rate is higher than state-of-the-art MDI QKD experiments. The results show that silicon photonic chip-based MDI QKD, benefiting from miniaturization, low-cost manufacture, and compatibility with CMOS microelectronics, is a promising solution for future quantum secure networks.
Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy is a promising approach against myocardial infarction (MI). Studies have demonstrated that MSCs can communicate with other cells by secreting exosomes. In the ...present study, we aimed to identify exosomal microRNAs that might contribute to MSC-mediated cardioprotective effects. Primary cardiomyocytes were deprived of oxygen and glucose to mimic MI in vitro. For the animal model of MI, the left anterior descending artery was ligated for 1 h, followed by reperfusion for 12 h. MSC-derived exosomes were used to treat primary cardiomyocytes or mice. Cardioprotection-related microRNAs were determined, followed by target gene identification and functional studies with quantitative PCR, western blotting, MTT assay, flow cytometry assay, chromatin immunoprecipitation and dual-luciferase assay. We found that MSC co-culture reduced OGD-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis and inflammatory responses. Cardioprotection was also observed upon treatment with MSC-derived exosomes in vitro and in vivo. In line with this, exosome uptake led to a significant increase in miR-25-3p in cardiomyocytes. Depletion of miR-25-3p in MSCs abolished the protective effects of exosomes. Mechanistically, miR-25-3p directly targeted the pro-apoptotic genes FASL and PTEN and reduced their protein levels. Moreover, miR-25-3p decreased the levels of EZH2 and H3K27me3, leading to derepression of the cardioprotective gene eNOS as well as the anti-inflammatory gene SOCS3. Inhibition of EZH2 or overexpression of miR-25-3p in cardiomyocytes was sufficient to confer cardioprotective effects in vitro and in vivo. We concluded that exosomal miR-25-3p from MSCs alleviated MI by targeting pro-apoptotic proteins and EZH2.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by profound synapse loss and impairments of learning and memory. Magnesium affects many biochemical mechanisms that are vital for neuronal properties and ...synaptic plasticity. Recent studies have demonstrated that the serum and brain magnesium levels are decreased in AD patients; however, the exact role of magnesium in AD pathogenesis remains unclear. Here, we found that the intraperitoneal administration of magnesium sulfate increased the brain magnesium levels and protected learning and memory capacities in streptozotocin-induced sporadic AD model rats. We also found that magnesium sulfate reversed impairments in long-term potentiation (LTP), dendritic abnormalities, and the impaired recruitment of synaptic proteins. Magnesium sulfate treatment also decreased tau hyperphosphorylation by increasing the inhibitory phosphorylation of GSK-3β at serine 9, thereby increasing the activity of Akt at Ser473 and PI3K at Tyr458/199, and improving insulin sensitivity. We conclude that magnesium treatment protects cognitive function and synaptic plasticity by inhibiting GSK-3β in sporadic AD model rats, which suggests a potential role for magnesium in AD therapy.

Long-distance entanglement distribution is essential for both foundational tests of quantum physics and scalable quantum networks. Owing to channel loss, however, the previously achieved distance was ...limited to ~100 kilometers. Here we demonstrate satellite-based distribution of entangled photon pairs to two locations separated by 1203 kilometers on Earth, through two satellite-to-ground downlinks with a summed length varying from 1600 to 2400 kilometers. We observed a survival of two-photon entanglement and a violation of Bell inequality by 2.37 ± 0.09 under strict Einstein locality conditions. The obtained effective link efficiency is orders of magnitude higher than that of the direct bidirectional transmission of the two photons through telecommunication fibers.

Copper (Cu)-based catalysts generally exhibit high C
2+
selectivity during the electrochemical CO
2
reduction reaction (CO
2
RR). However, the origin of this selectivity and the influence of ...catalyst precursors on it are not fully understood. We combine
operando
X-ray diffraction and
operando
Raman spectroscopy to monitor the structural and compositional evolution of three Cu precursors during the CO
2
RR. The results indicate that despite different kinetics, all three precursors are completely reduced to Cu(0) with similar grain sizes (~11 nm), and that oxidized Cu species are not involved in the CO
2
RR. Furthermore, Cu(OH)
2
- and Cu
2
(OH)
2
CO
3
-derived Cu exhibit considerable tensile strain (0.43%~0.55%), whereas CuO-derived Cu does not. Theoretical calculations suggest that the tensile strain in Cu lattice is conducive to promoting CO
2
RR, which is consistent with experimental observations. The high CO
2
RR performance of some derived Cu catalysts is attributed to the combined effect of the small grain size and lattice strain, both originating from the in situ electroreduction of precursors. These findings establish correlations between Cu precursors, lattice strains, and catalytic behaviors, demonstrating the unique ability of
operando
characterization in studying electrochemical processes.
Azoxy compounds have aroused extensive attention due to their unique biological activities, but the chemical synthesis of these compounds often suffers from limitations due to their requirement for ...stoichiometric oxidants, high costs, and restricted substrate range. Herein, a series of azoxy compounds were constructed via facile coupling reactions by using cost-effective N-methoxyformamide and nitroso compounds over Cu-based catalysts, affording high product yields with excellent tolerance of functional groups. Significantly, the mesoporous silica nanosphere-encapsulated ultrasmall Cu (Cu@MSN) catalyst was developed via a one-pot synthetic method and first used for the synthesis of azoxy compounds. As compared with copper salt catalysts, the Cu@MSN catalyst exhibited remarkably enhanced catalytic activity and superior recycling stability. Such a Cu@MSN catalyst overcame the inherent drawbacks of low activity, fast deactivation, and difficult recycling of traditional metal salt catalysts in organic reactions. This work provides a green and efficient method for the construction of azoxy compounds and also creates new prospects for the application of nanoporous materials confined metal catalysts in organic synthesis.
