Objective: Ovarian cancer (OC) is the deadliest gynecologic malignancy and has a poor survival rate due to late diagnosis and chemoresistance development. In the standard treatment of OC, ...platinum-based chemotherapeutics are used. However, following several rounds of chemotherapy, these drugs' efficacy eventually becomes limited due to the development of chemoresistance in most patients who previously responded to this treatment. Therefore, overcoming chemoresistance in the treatment of OC is of high importance. In this study, we investigated the effect of combinatorial inhibition of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) and proteasome by olaparib and bortezomib on chemosensitive and chemoresistant OC cell lines. Materials and Methods: We used sulphorhodamine B assay to screen cell viability following drug treatments alone or in combination, and used the cytotoxicity data to model the effect of drugs on cell death in R programming environment. In addition to olaparib and bortezomib, we performed cytotoxicity screenings where we applied cisplatin to OC cells. We also carried out flow cytometry analysis to quantify apoptotic cells following treatments. Results: We showed that combination treatment was more effective on chemosensitive OC cell lines when cisplatin was not used. In the presence of cisplatin, olaparib and bortezomib combination treatment resulted in higher cytotoxicity in chemoresistant OC lines compared to chemosensitive OC cell lines. Combinatorial inhibition of PARP and proteasome led to a higher number of apoptotic cells in OV2008 chemosensitive cell line compared to drugs alone. Conclusion: Our data shows that olaparib and bortezomib combination treatment might show promise in vivo in the treatment of OC. Also, the efficacy of this combination treatment might be dependent on OC cells' chemosensitivity profiles. Keywords: Ovarian cancer, olaparib, bortezomib, chemoresistance, proteasome
Thermally interconvertible enantiomers ΔG

Axially chiral 5,5-dimethyl-3-(
o-aryl)rhodanine, 3-(
o-aryl)rhodanine and 5,5-dimethyl-3-(
o-aryl)-2-thioxo-4-oxazolidinone derivatives ...have been synthesized as racemates and the energy barriers to enantiomerization have been determined by dynamic
1H NMR or by following the thermal equilibration of the separated enantiomers using chiral HPLC. The barriers to rotation about the N
sp2–C
aryl single bond were found to be 82–129
kJ/mol. The racemization barriers in these compounds are affected by the size of the
ortho-substituent on the aryl ring. The magnitude of the barriers was found to change linearly with the van der Waals radii of the
ortho-halogen substituents.
Abstract Assessing the quality of agricultural products holds vital significance in enhancing production efficiency and market viability. The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) has notably ...surged for this purpose, employing deep learning and machine learning techniques to process and classify agricultural product images, adhering to defined standards. This study focuses on the lemon dataset, encompassing ‘good’ and ‘bad’ quality classes, initiate by augmenting data through rescaling, random zoom, flip, and rotation methods. Subsequently, employing eight diverse deep learning approaches and two transformer methods for classification, the study culminated in the ViT method achieving an unprecedented 99.84% accuracy, 99.95% recall, and 99.66% precision, marking the highest accuracy documented. These findings strongly advocate for the efficacy of the ViT method in successfully classifying lemon quality, spotlighting its potential impact on agricultural quality assessment.
Objective: To evaluate and describe a surgical approach for
uterine preservation and management of postpartum hemorrhage in placenta
accreta spectrum (PAS). Methods: We analyzed the data of
patients ...who were diagnosed with placenta previa companied with PAS prenatally
and subsequently performed cesarean section with local resection technique to
manage postpartum hemorrhage and uterine preservation at our tertiary care
center between January 2016 and August 2017. The technique includes the local
resection of placental invasion site and suturing the new uterine edges without
internal iliac artery ligation. Results: The diagnosis of placenta
accreta spectrum anterior in all 11 cases was confirmed intraoperatively. Only
1 case underwent hysterectomy in a second operation. Two of cases had bladder
injury. The mean operative time was 99 ± 30 minutes. The mean received packed red
blood cells was 2.3 ± 1.0 units. The mean length of postoperative hospital stay
was 4.5 ± 1.4 days. There was no late complications regarding coagulopathy and infection.
No maternal mortality was observed. Conclusion: Local resection is an
effective, safe and fertility preserving approach in selected patients with
PAS.
