We describe a new approach for locating the focal position in laser micromachining. This approach is based on a feedback system that uses a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera, a beam splitter, and a ...mirror to focus a laser beam on the surface of a work piece. We tested the proposed method for locating the focal position by using Zemax simulations, as well as physically carrying out drilling processes. Compared with conventional methods, this approach is advantageous because: the implementation is simple, the specimen can easily be positioned at the focal position, and the dynamically adjustable scan amplitude and the CCD camera can be used to monitor the laser beam's profile. The proposed technique will be particularly useful for locating the focal position on any surface in laser micromachining.
In this paper, we describe visualization pursuant of developing 37 Honored Ones within the Diamond World Mandala. "The 37 Honored Ones" are a collective term for 5 Buddhas and 32 Bodhisattvas that ...were built on the basis of Vajrasekhara Sutra. Also, as core values of Buddhism, they represent ideas of Esoteric Buddhism systematically and symbolically. "The 37 Honored Ones" are completed by the development of 4 Buddhas from Vairocana and their interaction with 16 Great Bodhisattvas and 16 Offering Bodhisattvas that were also developed from Vairocana. So, in this paper, we analyze and visualize the development of "37 Honored Ones." This line of research is significant because it aims to convert narrative structure of the conventional Buddhism scriptures into various types of digital contents. Also, applications of the implemented visual digital contents can be as follows; educational service for Buddhist doctrines, development of the various Buddhist cultural contents, etc.
This study proposes the development of 'Mandala 37', a puzzle game based content that learns the principles of 37 Honored Ones within the Diamond World Mandala. The proposed game is a new type of ...learning content that combines the development process of 37 Honored Ones with the characteristics of the puzzle game. It aims to increase the understanding of Buddhist content by inducing learners' interest and increasing their concentration. Learners can learn and understand the principles of the emergence of 37 Honored Ones naturally through the rules of the game. This study introduces the implementation process of the proposed game and explains how learners perceive the principle of 37 Honored Ones within the Diamond World Mandala through the game.
As lithium ion cells dominate the battery market, the performance improvement is an utmost concern among developers and researchers. Conductive additives are routinely employed to enhance electrode ...conductivity and capacity. Carbon particulates—graphite or carbon black powders—are conventional and popular choices as conductive fillers. However, percolation requirements of particles demand significant volumetric content of impalpable, and thereby high area conductive fillers. As might be expected, the electrode active surface area escalates unnecessarily, resulting in overall increase in reaction with electrolytes and organic solvents. The increased reactions usually manifest as an irreversible loss of anode capacity, gradual oxidation and consumption of electrolyte on the cathode—which causes capacity decline during cycling—and an increased threat to battery safety by gas evolution and exothermic solvent oxidation. In this work we have utilized high aspect ratio, flexible, micronic metal fibers as low active area and high conductivity additives. The metal fibers appear well dispersed within the electrode and to satisfy percolation requirements very efficiently at very low volumetric content compared to conventional carbon-based conductive additives. Results from 18650-type cells indicate significant enhancements in electrode capacity and high rate capability while the irreversible capacity loss is negligible.
Here, we investigate a method to distinguish the counterfeits by patterning multiple reflective type grating directly on the surface of the original product and analyze the serial number from its ...rotation angles of diffracted fringes. The micro-sized gratings were fabricated on the surface of the material at high speeds by illuminating the interference fringe generated by passing a high-energy pulse laser through the Fresnel biprism. In addition, analysis of the grating's diffraction fringes was performed using a continuous wave laser.
In this paper, the characteristics and structural meaning of the Palyupsimryeon mandala, which represent the high spiritual world among Korean traditional cultural relics, are analyzed and ...visualized. Various studies on foreign mandalas are being introduced, but there is a lack of systematic analysis of the meaning of existing Korean mandalas. In this paper, we visualize the seeds of the Palyupsimryeon mandala in Korea by matching them with the image of the mandala, which is based on the shape of the mandala. Through this process, it shows that Korea's unique seed mandala has a form of mandala that combines the existing the Diamond World Mandala and the Matrix Mandala. Applications include Mandara's characterization, digital storytelling, and games. 본 논문에서는 한국의 전통문화유물 중 고도의 정신세계를 나타내는 팔엽심련만다라의 특징과 구조적 의미를 분석하고 시각화를 기술한다. 다양한 국외 만다라에 대한 연구가 소개되고 있으나, 현존하는 한국의 만다라에 대하여 그 의미를 체계적으로 분석한 연구는 미진하다. 본 논문에서는 한국의 팔엽심련만다라의 종자를 형상 위주의 만다라에서 나타난 존상과 매칭하여 시각화하고, 이런 과정을 통하여 우리 고유의 종자(種字)만다라가 기존 금강계만다라와 태장만다라가 융합된 만다라로서의 형태를 가지고 있음을 보인다. 응용 분야로는 만다라의 캐릭터화, 디지털 스토리텔링, 게임 등이다.

In this paper, we implement a digital content that visualizes the ten kings of Hell kings appearing in Buddhist myths according to their keyword. The ten kings of Hell are called ShiWang, and can be ...found in ordinary temples as tangible cultural Heritage such as paintings of the Buddha. ShiWang is a great king who controls the underworld and has been passed on in various forms in shamanism and Buddhist culture. We analyze the ShiWang, who appears in ancient literature, analyzes its features by hell and categorizes keywords. When the public chooses keywords of interest from implemented digital content, digital content represents the ShiWang and Hell image and descriptions associated with the selected keywords. Applications of the digital content are as follows; development of games and cultural characters, digital storytelling using traditional culture, teaching Buddhist culture and doctrines, games, etc. 본 논문에서는 불교 신화에 등장하는 10명의 지옥 왕을 주제어에 따라 시각화하는 디지털 콘텐츠를 구현한다. 10명의 지옥 왕은 시왕으로 불리며, 탱화와 같은 유형문화재로서 일반 사찰에서 찾아볼 수 있다. 시왕은 저승 세계를 관장하는 대왕으로 무속 및 불교문화 속에서 다양한 모습으로 전래되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 고문헌에 등장하는 시왕을 지옥별로 그 특징을 분석하여 주제어를 선별하고, 일반인이 특정 주제어를 선택하면 그에 따른 지옥과 왕을 시각적으로 나타내는 디지털 콘텐츠를 구현한다. 응용 분야로는 게임 및 문화 캐릭터의 개발, 전통문화를 활용한 디지털 스토리텔링, 불교문화와 교리 교육, 게임 등에 그 활용을 기대할 수 있다.
