Anterior teeth with subgingival fractures require a multidisciplinary management approach with regards to biological, functional and aesthetic factors. This case report emphasises the use of a ...minimally invasive technique combined with a sequence of therapies to treat a complicated crown-root fracture and reviews the critical factors to ensure predictable outcomes. Endodontic treatment was undertaken due to exposure of the pulp in a complicated crown-root fracture of the maxillary right central incisor. Extrusion of the fractured fragment was performed to expose the fracture margin under the alveolar bone. Modified crown-lengthening surgery was used to reconstruct the biologic width. The traumatised tooth was restored with a glass fibre post and resin core, which fit the biological requirements. Finally, an all-ceramic crown fulfilled biomimetic aesthetics. This multidisciplinary approach achieved a good long-term prognosis with regards to periodontal and periapical healing.
There are many patients with diabetes in the world and the treatment of diabetes is still a hectic problem, which has a nagative impact on the life of diabetic patients. A lot of research has been ...done on this, among which the phenylboronic acid-based smart drug delivery system mimics the working mode of human islets. When it is injected into the human body, it automatically releases the corresponding amount of insulin according to the blood glucose level of the human body. Such drug delivery systems can be divided into gels, micelles, capsules and vesicles, etc. according to the microstructure. This paper mainly highlights the recent progress in this field.

The need for protecting human or devices from harm and for keeping something from being detected by other instruments is spawning a world of attention in the development of novel electromagnetic (EM) ...wave absorption materials. An ideal EM wave absorber is necessary to have light weight, thin thickness, high EM wave absorption, broad width, tunable absorption frequency, and multi-functionality. This article introduces the EM wave absorption mechanism and reviews the development of polymer-based nanocomposites for EM wave absorption, in which polymers act as absorbing components or/and matrixes. And we also summarize the approaches to design the ideal absorber, including introduction of nanostructure, and simultaneous action of both dielectric and magnetic materials with special structure by directly mixing, core–shell or multilayer structure.

Recently, metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted tremendous research attention in many fields, including gas separation, wastewater treatment, energy storage and conversion, catalysis, sensors, etc. To satisfy various demands of special practical applications, the pristine MOFs were usually hybridized with other molecules to form multifunctional materials. Due to their unique reversible redox properties, outstanding optical and electrochemical activities, ferrocene (Fc) and its derivatives have been employed as the guest molecules or functional units in MOFs, these Fc-contained MOFs usually exhibit unique performance in many fields compared with pristine MOFs and bare Fc molecules. In this review, the recent progresses of Fc-contained MOFs and their derived materials are reviewed, including the role of Fc in Fc-contained MOFs, synthesis methods and corresponding applications. The challenges and potential research directions of Fc-contained MOFs are also presented and highlighted.

The metal organic frameworks derived microwave absorption materials (MOF derived MAMs) were systematically reviewed.
The design principles, preparation methods and effect of ...microstructures and composites of MOF derived MAMs were discussed.
The challenges and further research directions of MOF derived MAMs were presented
Microwave has been widely used in many fields, including communication, medical treatment and military industry; however, the corresponding generated radiations have been novel hazardous sources of pollution threating human’s daily life. Therefore, designing high-performance microwave absorption materials (MAMs) has become an indispensable requirement. Recently, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been considered as one of the most ideal precursor candidates of MAMs because of their tunable structure, high porosity and large specific surface area. Usually, MOF-derived MAMs exhibit excellent electrical conductivity, good magnetism and sufficient defects and interfaces, providing obvious merits in both impedance matching and microwave loss. In this review, the recent research progresses on MOF-derived MAMs were profoundly reviewed, including the categories of MOFs and MOF composites precursors, design principles, preparation methods and the relationship between mechanisms of microwave absorption and microstructures of MAMs. Finally, the current challenges and prospects for future opportunities of MOF-derived MAMs are also discussed.
Microneedle technology relates to pharmacy, polymer chemistry and micromachining. Microneedle can effectively deliver insulin into systemic circulation across the skin. This process does not affect ...the activity of insulin. Compared to subcutaneous injection, microneedles cause less pain for their special structure. This review thoroughly discusses the preparation technologies of the microneedles-based insulin delivery system including solid, hollow, dissolving, phase transition, glucose-responsive microneedle patches. In the meantime, the properties, challenges and clinical/commercial status of the microneedles-based insulin delivery system are also discussed in this review.

We calculate the embodied carbon emissions of China’s through the multiregional input–output (MRIO) method, then we construct the interprovincial embodied carbon flow networks of China’s exports ...based on the mean threshold, and the application of complex network analysis to conduct a detailed examination of the overall characteristics, key nodes and edges, and community structure of China’s interprovincial embodied carbon flow network. We extended the embodied carbon flow network analysis at the provincial level. The results demonstrated the following: (1) The interprovincial embodied carbon flow network of China’s exports has small-world and scale-free characteristics. The node degree probability distribution curves for the networks obviously conformed to a decreasing power law distribution, indicating that a few industrial sectors carry a large amount of embodied carbon and suggesting that reducing the embodied carbon of China’s exports could yield twice the results with half the effort as long as attention is paid to a few sectors. (2) The key nodes and edges in the networks show that industrial sectors and production chains such as the power and heat production and supply industry, the petroleum processing, coking, and nuclear fuel processing industry, and the metal smelting and calendering industry play the role of key “bridges” in the entire network, among which Guangdong, Hebei, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, and Shanxi are important node provinces and the main flow paths for the generation of embodied carbon in national exports. These industrial sectors and production chains should bolster their policies to encourage the innovation of carbon emission reduction technologies and decrease carbon emissions, so as to reduce the embodied carbon of national exports on a large scale. (3) The number of communities firstly increased then decreased from 2007 to 2017, while the aggregation coefficient of the node and correlation density within first community displayed firstly downward then upward trends, reflecting firstly decentralization then centralization of the interprovincial embodied carbon flow.

With the development of society, plastics play a significant role in daily supplies owing to their advantages. Whereas, insufficient scratch resistance and vulnerable plastic surfaces result in the ...constraint of their range of application fields, for instance, electronic products. Hence, it is a highly desirable objective of researchers to investigate hardening coatings for protecting plastic surfaces, by selecting polyurethane acrylate (PUA) as film-forming materials attributing to their adjustable features. This article reveals components of PUA and principles for its hardening modification, and summaries various methods of hardening modification of PUA-based coatings, such as improving the crosslinking density, strengthening hydrogen bonding, incorporating rigid groups into molecular structure, introducing inorganic nanoparticles into resin matrix and transferring linear PUA into hyperbranched analogs. Moreover, optimal strategies for the preparation of PUA-based hardening films from above five tactics are discussed.
