We present the study of Bover ¯^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{±}pover ¯ decays based on 772×10^{6} BBover ¯ events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The ...Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} candidates are reconstructed via their decay to Λ_{c}^{+}π^{∓} and Λ_{c}^{+} decays to pK^{-}π^{+}, pK_{S}^{0}, and Λπ^{+} final states. The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be B(Bover ¯^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+}pover ¯)=(1.09±0.06±0.07)×10^{-4} and B(Bover ¯^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-}pover ¯)=(1.84±0.11±0.12)×10^{-4}, which are consistent with the world average values with improved precision. A new structure is found in the M_{Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{±}} spectrum with a significance of 4.2σ including systematic uncertainty. The structure is possibly an excited Λ_{c}^{+} and is tentatively named Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}. Its mass and width are measured to be (2913.8±5.6±3.8) MeV/c^{2} and (51.8±20.0±18.8) MeV, respectively. The products of branching fractions for the Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} are measured to be B(Bover ¯^{0}→Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}pover ¯)×B(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+})=(9.5±3.6±1.6)×10^{-6} and B(Bover ¯^{0}→Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}pover ¯)×B(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-})=(1.24±0.35±0.10)×10^{-5}. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.
We report on the first Belle search for a light CP-odd Higgs boson, A^{0}, that decays into low mass dark matter, χ, in final states with a single photon and missing energy. We search for events ...produced via the dipion transition ϒ(2S)→ϒ(1S)π^{+}π^{-}, followed by the on-shell process ϒ(1S)→γA^{0} with A^{0}→χχ, or by the off-shell process ϒ(1S)→γχχ. Utilizing a data sample of 157.3×10^{6} ϒ(2S) decays, we find no evidence for a signal. We set limits on the branching fractions of such processes in the mass ranges M_{A^{0}}<8.97 GeV/c^{2} and M_{χ}<4.44 GeV/c^{2}. We then use the limits on the off-shell process to set competitive limits on WIMP-nucleon scattering in the WIMP mass range below 5 GeV/c^{2}.

We report a measurement of time-dependent CP violation in B0 → K0Sπ0π0 decays using a data sample of 772 × 106 B¯B pairs collected by the Belle experiment running at the Υ ( 4 S ) resonance at the ...KEKB e+e− collider. This decay proceeds mainly via a b → s d ¯ d “penguin” amplitude. The results are sin 2 ϕ eff 1 = 0.9 2 + 0.27 − 0.31 (stat.) ± 0.11 (syst.) and A = 0.28 ± 0.21 (stat.) ± 0.04 (syst.), which are the most precise measurements of C P violation in this decay mode to date. The value for the C P -violating parameter sin 2 ϕ eff 1 is consistent with that obtained using decay modes proceeding via a b → c ¯ c s “tree” amplitude.
In the forward end-cap of the Belle II spectrometer, particle identification is provided by a proximity focusing RICH detector with an aerogel radiator (ARICH). The ARICH’s primary function is to ...effectively distinguish between pions and kaons in the momentum range of 0.5GeV/c to about 4GeV/c, as well as to contribute to identification of low-momentum leptons. Since its operation began, Belle II has collected over 420fb−1 of data. Based on this large data sample, studies of several effects that impact the performance of the ARICH detector were carried out. In this paper, we present a comparison of the observed Cherenkov ring image and detector particle identification performance in the measured data and detector simulation. Furthermore, we highlight recent efforts aimed at enhancing the ARICH’s performance by taking into account the effects of particle decay in flight and scattering in materials before the detector, as well as by refining the probability density function used for particle identification likelihood evaluation.

The Aerogel Ring-Imaging Cherenkov detector (ARICH) is being installed in the endcap region of Belle II spectrometer to identify particles from B meson decays by detecting the Cherenkov ring image ...from aerogel radiators. To detect single photons, high-sensitive photon detector which has wide effective area (∼70mm × 70mm), a Hybrid Avalanche Photo Detector (HAPD), has been developed in a collaboration with Hamamatsu K.K. The HAPD consists of hybrid structure of a vacuum tube and an avalanche photodiode (APD). It can be operated in 1.5T magnetic field of the spectrometer and withstands the radiation levels expected in the Belle II experiment. There are two steps of electric pulse amplification: acceleration of photo-electron in electric field in the vacuum tube part and electron avalanche in the APD part resulting in total gain of order 105. For the ARICH, we use 420 HAPDs in total. Before installing them, we performed quality assessment studies such as measurements of dark current, noise level, signal-to-noise ratio and two-dimensional scan with laser illumination. We also measured quantum efficiency of the photocathode. During the HAPD performance tests in the magnetic field, we observed very large signal pulses which cause long dead time of the readout electronics in some of the HAPDs. We have carried out a number of studies to understand this phenomenon, and have found a way to mitigate it and suppress the degradation of the ARICH performance. In this report, we will show a summary of the HAPD performance and quality assessment measurements including validation in the magnetic field for all of the HAPDs manufactured for the ARICH in the Belle II.
The brood sex ratio in the apple snail Pomacea canaliculata varies almost continuously from all male to all female, but the population sex ratio is nearly 1:1. In this study, regressions of the ...offspring sex ratio on the sex ratios of the parents' siblings as well as correlations in the brood sex ratios between sisters or brothers were investigated, in order to infer the genetic system that produces the sex-ratio pattern. There were significant positive relationships between the offspring sex ratio and the sex ratio of the mother's siblings (slope=0.28), and between the offspring sex ratios of two sisters (r=0.41). On the other hand, the father-offspring regression (slope=0.10), and the correlations between two brothers (r=-0.13) or between the brother and the sister (r=0.17) were not significant. These patterns differed from predictions using typical cytoplasmic sex factors, sex-ratio genes or sex-determining polygenes. Thus, the results suggest the involvement of either a small number of sex-determining genes or a more complicated system such as sex-ratio or sex-determining polygenes that act nonadditively.
