We compute the gravitational corrections to the running of couplings in a scalar-fermion system, using the Wilsonian approach. Our discussion is relevant for symmetric as well as for broken scalar ...phases. We find that the Yukawa and quartic scalar couplings become irrelevant at the Gaussian fixed point.
The precise knowledge of the neutrino flux composition and kinematics is one of the biggest challenges of long-baseline experiments such as T2K. Neutrinos are made by the in-flight decay of unstable ...hadrons produced by the interactions of 31GeV/c protons in a long graphite target. Mostly π+ (π−) are created, leading to the νμ(ν¯μ) enhanced flux. As kaons and muons are also produced, an irreducible background of electron (anti-)neutrino is also present. The main source of uncertainty in the flux prediction is driven by the lack of data on the proton-carbon interaction in this energy range. The measurements performed by the NA61/SHINE large-acceptance experiment at CERN are used by the T2K collaboration to improve the flux predictions. Two datasets have been taken: using a thin target to study the primary interaction, and a replica of the T2K target to account for the re-interactions. The recently released differential multiplicity distributions of π± along the replica target measured in NA61/SHINE will be presented. This dataset is now in the process of being used by T2K to further tune the flux prediction as 90% of the neutrinos will be directly constrained.
The Liquid argon technology has been chosen for the DUNE underground experiment for the study of neutrino oscillations, neutrino astrophysics and proton decay. This detector has excellent tracking ...and calorimetric capabilities much superior to currently operating neutrino detectors. WA105 is a large demonstrator of the dual-phase liquid argon TPC based on the GLACIER design, with a 6×6×6 m3 (appr. 300t) active volume. Its construction and operation test scalable solutions for the crucial aspects of this detector: ultra-high argon purity in non-evacuable tanks, long drifts, very high drift voltages, large area MPGD, cold preamplifiers. The TPC will be built inside a tank based on industrial LNG technology. Electrons produced in the liquid argon are extracted in the gas phase. Here, a readout plane based on Large Electron Multipliers (LEM's) provides amplification before the charge collection onto an anode plane with strip readout. This highly cost effective solution provides excellent imaging capabilities with equal charge sharing on both views. PMTs located at the bottom of the tank containing the liquid argon provide the readout of the scintillation light. This demonstrator is an industrial prototype of the design proposed for a large underground detector. WA105 is under construction at CERN and will be exposed to a charged particle beam (0.5 - 20 GeV/c) in the North Area in 2018. The data will provide necessary calibration of the detector performances and benchmark sophisticated reconstruction algorithms. This project is a crucial milestone for the long baseline neutrino program DUNE.
Enteral nutrition is necessary when nutritional status is poor and oral intake is insufficient or impossible. Although it has been suspected to reduce spontaneous oral feeding, no study has formally ...assessed the influence of enteral nutrition on pediatric oral intake. The present study aimed to evaluate variation in oral feeding intake after enteral nutrition initiation, and to identify factors influencing oral feeding.
This retrospective cohort study included 149 pediatric patients from two French tertiary care hospitals, who received home enteral nutrition from 2009 to 2022. The patients were aged 2 months to 17 years (median age 3 years, interquartile range 1.3–9.2). Oral and enteral intakes were assessed when enteral nutrition was initiated (M0), and again at M3 (n = 123), M6 (n = 129), and M12 (n = 134) follow-ups, based on dieticians' and home services’ reports. Oral feeding and body mass index z score variations during follow-ups were evaluated using a linear mixed regression model, including “time” as a fixed effect and “patient” as a random effect. Factors associated with oral feeding changes were assessed using a model interaction term.
Oral intake did not vary significantly (P = 0.99) over time and accounted for 47.4% ± 27.4%, 46.9% ± 27.4%, 48.4% ± 28.2%, and 46.6% ± 26.9% of the ideal recommended daily allowance (calculated for the ideal weight for height) at M0, M3, M6, and M12, respectively. Delivery method (nasogastric tube versus gastrostomy), prematurity, underlying disease, history of intrauterine growth retardation, and speech therapy intervention did not influence oral intake. Administration (i.e., exclusively continuous nocturnal infusion versus daytime bolus) led to different oral intake development, although oral intake also differed at M0.
Enteral nutrition, although increasing total energy intake, does not alter oral feeding during the first year of administration. Only the mode of administration might influence oral intake.
Purpose
Although currently there are simplified methods to measure the pathophysiological traits that stimulate the occurrence and maintenance of obstructive sleep apnea–hypopnea (OSAH), they remain ...difficult to implement in routine practice. This pilot study aimed to find a simpler daytime approach to obtain a meaningful, similar pathophysiological phenotypic profile in patients with OSAH.
Methods
After obtaining diagnostic polygraphy from a group of consecutive patients with OSAH, we performed the dial-down CPAP technique during nocturnal polysomnography and used it as reference method. This allowed assessment of upper airway collapsibility, loop gain (LG), arousal threshold (AT), and upper airway muscle gain (UAG). We compared these results with a daytime protocol based on negative expiratory pressure (NEP) technique for evaluating upper airway collapsibility and UAG, on maximal voluntary apnea for LG, and on clinical predictors for AT.

Of 15 patients studied, 13 patients with OSAH accurately completed the two procedures. There were strong (all

< 0.001) correlations for each phenotypic trait between the measurements obtained through the reference method and those achieved during wakefulness.
Conclusion
It is possible to phenotype patients with OSAH from a pathophysiological point of view while they are awake. Using this approach, cutoff values corresponding to those usually adopted using the reference method can be identified to detect abnormal traits, achieving profiles similar to those obtained through the dial-down CPAP technique.
La période des 1000 premiers jours de vie est reconnue comme étant une fenêtre de vulnérabilité pouvant avoir un impact à long terme sur la santé des individus. La cohorte PENSINE (Périnatalité, ...environnement, santé intestinale et nutrition de l’enfant) vise à évaluer l’impact de l’allaitement sur la santé intestinale de l’enfant. L’objectif principal de ce travail est de caractériser la cohorte PENSINE et la comparer à la population générale ayant accouché dans la maternité (groupe MAT) réalisant l’étude.
La cohorte prospective PENSINE vise à déterminer l’impact de l’allaitement sur la santé intestinale des enfants à l’âge de 4 ans à partir de couples mère/enfant inclus à la maternité participant à l’étude. Les 180 premiers couples mère/enfant inclus ont été caractérisés et comparés à la population de la même maternité (groupe MAT) n’ayant pas participé à l’étude sur des variables d’intérêt de façon à identifier les spécificités de la cohorte. En réponse au critère d’évaluation principal, le groupe d’enfants allaités exclusivement pendant au moins 3 mois (AM) a été comparé au groupe d’enfants ayant reçu un allaitement artificiel et/ou mixte (AAm) selon ces mêmes variables d’intérêt afin d’évaluer l’homogénéité de la cohorte.
Comparativement au groupe MAT, l’âge maternel moyen à l’accouchement (32,2±4,3 vs 31,3±5,3 ans ; p<0,01), le terme moyen (40+1±1,0 vs 39+2±1,2 SA ; p<0,001) et le taux d’allaitement exclusif pendant le séjour à la maternité (78,5 vs 60,0 % ; p<0,001), étaient plus élevés dans la cohorte PENSINE, alors que le taux de prématurité était plus faible (1,6 vs 7,1 % ; p<0,01). Le taux d’accouchement par voie basse (83,3 vs 81,2 % ; p=0,47), le poids moyen de l’enfant à la naissance (3431±416 vs 3363±468g ; p=0,06) et la proportion de filles (57,6 vs 50,3 % ; p=0,09) n’étaient pas différents entre les deux groupes. Excepté le taux d’allaitement exclusif pendant le séjour à la maternité, aucune différence significative n’était retrouvée pour ces mêmes variables entre les sous-groupes AM et AAm de la cohorte PENSINE.
Cette analyse préliminaire montre que la cohorte PENSINE possède des spécificités par rapport à la population totale de la maternité. Il existe toutefois une homogénéité des données de naissance entre les enfants ayant été allaité exclusivement ou non lors des 3 premiers mois de vie. Ces informations seront à prendre en considération lors des analyses des variables cliniques, anthropométriques et biologiques afin d’évaluer leur impact sur la santé intestinale de l’enfant sain.
Abstract Background Hypothesis: pulsed electromagnetic fields treatment might improve symptoms in the early stage of spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee. Methods Twenty-eight patients (19M/9F, age ...49.8 ± 16.4 years) suffering from symptomatic (pain) Koshino stage I spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee, confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were treated with local pulsed electromagnetic fields therapy (6 h daily for 90 days). Clinical evaluation: baseline, 6- and 24-month follow-up by VAS for pain, knee society score (KSS), Tegner and EQ-5D scales. MRI evaluation: baseline and 6-month follow-up, measuring bone marrow lesion's areas and grading these lesions by WORMS score. Failures: patients undergoing knee arthroplasty. Results Pain significantly reduced at 6 months (from 73.2 ± 20.7 to 29.6 ± 21.3, p < 0.0001), which remained almost unchanged at final follow-up (27.0 ± 25.1). KSS significantly increased in first 6 months (from 34.0 ± 13.3 to 76.1 ± 15.9, p < 0.0001) and was slightly reduced at final follow-up (72.5 ± 13.5, p = 0.0044). Tegner median level increased from baseline to 6-month follow-up (1(1–1) and 3(3–4), respectively, p < 0.0001) and remained stable. EQ-5D improved significantly throughout the 24 months (0.32 ± 0.33, baseline; 0.74 ± 0.23, 6-month follow-up ( p < 0.0001); 0.86 ± 0.15, 24-month follow-up ( p = 0.0071)). MRI evaluation: significant reduction of total WORMS mean score ( p < 0.0001) and mean femoral bone marrow lesion's area ( p < 0.05). This area reduction was present in 85% and was correlated to WORMS grading both for femur, tibia and total joint ( p < 0.05). Four failures (14.3%) at 24-month follow-up. Conclusions Pulsed electromagnetic fields stimulation significantly reduced knee pain and necrosis area in Koshino stage I spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee already in the first 6 months, preserving 86% of knees from prosthetic surgery at 24-month follow-up. No correlation was found between MRI and clinical scores. Level of evidence Level IV; case series.
The ALTE (Apparent Life Threatening Event) of the infant is a frequent presenting complaint. The clinical presentation is varied, ranging from an innocuous event (as a change in skin color) to ...something as tragic as a sudden infant death. In all circumstances, it is always a very worrying event for the parents and the family circle. Many etiologies can explain the ALTE, and their investigation can be complicated. In this paper, the etiologies and diagnostic tests will be briefly introduced, with a reminder of the sudden infant death syndrome.

It is an infection that leads to ...diagnostic wandering, due to a lack of explicit history and the variety of clinical manifestations. Antibiotic therapy is rarely necessary because it has a spontaneously favourable evolution in the majority of cases.
