Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), aided by proper channel coding schemes, can realize very dependable transmission in fading channels. For the purpose of improving the performance of ...the OFDM based DRM digital AM broadcasting in MF and HF channels, this paper designs MLC-LDPC-OFDM transmission scheme that is suitable for MF and HF channels. The equivalent channel capacities of MLC-LDPC-OFDM with two different decoding strategies, namely IMSD and PDL, are analyzed, basing on which this paper redesigns the code rates of MLC. In addition, the calculation of likelihood ratio in LDPC decoding is modified according to channel models. The simulation results show that the proposed schemes have better performance than the existing ones in MF and HF channels.
To achieve accurate velocity estimation, the Dual EBPSK system model is proposed. EBPSK modulation is high in transmission efficiency. Two independent velocity estimation methods in the Dual EBPSK ...system are presented. Two velocity estimation results can be fused to get more accurate estimation. The validation of the two methods is proven by following analysis and comparison. Typical error in satellite positioning is analyzed. The validation of the proposed system is proven by the comparison.
To improve protein folding simulations, bacterial chemotaxis optimization (BCO) was investigated on a 2D lattice model. BCO is a novel intelligent problem solving technique inspired from the foraging ...behavior of bacteria. We compared BCO with standard genetic algorithm (SGA), immune genetic algorithm (IGA), and artificial immune system (AIS) for various chain lengths. It shows that BCO has the highest successful rate.
Wavelet transform is widely used in feature extraction of magnetic resonance imaging. However, the traditional discrete wavelet transform (DWT) suffers from translation variant property, which may ...extract significantly different features from two images of the same subject with only slight movement. In order to solve this problem, this paper utilizes stationary wavelet transform (SWT) to extract features instead of DWT. Experiments on a normal brain MRI demonstrate that wavelet coefficients via SWT is superior to that via DWT concerning translation invariant property.
Traditional methods for 2D-3D feature based pose estimation problem require two inputs, and they can not work well due to lack of correspondences of input images. In order to solve the pose ...estimation problem more effectively and rapidly, this paper proposed a 6-point template which overcomes the shortcomings of traditional approaches, and use particle swarm optimization to find the optimal solutions. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is effective, anti-noising, and rapid.
Bankruptcy prediction is a hot topic. Traditional methods consist of univariate model and multivariate model such as neural network. However, the NNs can not extract effective rules. Thus, a novel ...approach was proposed in this paper to extract rules. First, t-test method was used to select 5 features from 55 original features. Second, the rule encoding was constructed. Third, the ant colony algorithm was utilized to find the optimal rule. Experiments on 200 corporate demonstrate that this proposed algorithm is effective and rapid.
Distributed video coding (DVC) technology is investigated and payed more and more attentions in wireless video applications because of characteristics of its encoder with low-complexity and decoder ...with high-complexity. Its coding types can be sorted the key and Wyner-Ziv frames, key frames are with conventional intra-coding mode, Wyner-Ziv frames are coded by an encoder that is composed of quantizer following with Slepian-wolf coder, but the Slepian-wolf source coding is realized by use of channel encoding techniques again. During the experiment, we adopt excellent H.264 intra-coding algorithm in key frames and mode decision optimization of intra encoding which is realized by making use of the Sobel algorithm. Slepian-wolf coder which is based on turbo code channel encoding and followed with 2M levels quantizer are used to encode Wyner-Ziv frames. The experiment results demonstrate that 2-7 dB of PSNR is gained and the DVC algorithm is effective to wireless video application.
