Sects and what is called “new religion” are today a fairly widespread phenomenon, and one to which young people are particularly vulnerable. Their negative impact is manifested, inter alia, by the ...breaking down of an individual’s personality, instilling a decreased sense of security in the current environment in order to degrade one’s view of self and society, taking advantage of a state of fear and threats. The leaders of groups that fall under the umbrella of “new religion” exploit individuals in order to commit crimes. The article examines the styles and functions of selected religious movements and sects and presents the actions taken by national governments and supranational organisations to protect the public against the destructive impact of new religious movements and sects.
Left ventricular dysfunction was detected by bioimpedance measurement in patients with coronary artery disease during exercise bicycle test. The aim of the study was to evaluate the haemodynamic changes during an exercise test in patients after coronary artery revascularisation. Material and Methods: 30 consecutive patients (age 60±9 y.) included into the cardiac rehabilitation program were divided into 2 groups; EF<50% (6 patients) and EF>50% (24 patients). Routine bicycle exercise tolerance test (EET) was performed simultaneously with four-electrode impedance cardiogram. ECG, blood pressure, Thoracic Impedance and the first derivative dz/dt were recorded. Stroke volume (SV), cardiac output, contractility indices (HI, ACCI), vascular peripheral resistance were calculated for each cardiac evolution. Trends of the parameters were analysed. Results: In patients with EF<50% the 3 SV trend patterns were observed. SV decreased 1.5 minute before the exercise time limit in 2 patients. SV was in the same level in 2 and increased slowly only during the first two steps in 2 ones.

Methods and results Nine hundred and thirty-five biologically unrelated Caucasian patients with CAD who had exercised until exhaustion during graded bicycle testing at baseline and after completion of 3 months of exercise training from 1990 to 2001 (n=1095) were eligible for inclusion in the CAREGENE (CArdiac REhabilitation and GENetics of Exercise performance) study. Polymorphisms were detected using the invader assay (Third Wave Technologies(TM), Madison, Wisconsin, USA). Patients with the Gly49Gly genotype had significantly higher covariate-adjusted aerobic power at baseline than those with Ser49Ser and Ser49Gly (P<0.05). Adjusted aerobic power at baseline was highest in the Ser49-Gly389/Gly49-Gly389 and Gly49-Arg389/Gly49-Arg389 haplotype combinations. Aerobic power increased significantly (P<0.001) with physical training. There was no association with the effect of physical training. Conclusion Ser49Gly and haplotype combinations of Ser49Gly and Gly389Arg of the β1AR gene are associated with aerobic power, but not with the response to physical training in patients with CAD included in the CAREGENE study.

A szkoda, bo filmy te to znakomite egzemplifikaqe przemian zachodzących w tamtejszym społeczeństwie i zmieniającego się na przestrzeni lat wizerunku kobiety. Popularne españolady, wzorowane na ...eskapistycznych filmach hollywoodzkich, wykorzystywały znane i łubiane gatunki komediowo-muzyczne (np. zarzuele), odwoływały się do lokalnego folkloru (głównie andaluzyjskiego), upowszechniając przy tym wizerunek szczęśliwej kobiety spełniającej się w roli gospodyni domowej bądź z zapałem podążającej za życiowym celem, jakim było małżeństwo. In 927 biologically unrelated Caucasian patients with coronary artery disease it was investigated whether the NcoI restriction fragment length polymorphism of the muscle-specific creatine kinase ...(CKMM) gene is associated with aerobic power and with the response to physical training. Physical training significantly (P<0.001) increased peak oxygen consumption in the GG, AG and AA NcoI genotypes. Covariate-adjusted peak oxygen consumption at baseline, after training and the response to training were not different across CKMM NcoI genotypes.
The aim of this article is to present the motive of cannibalism which appears in chosen film contexts. I am interested in how cannibalism can be used as a cultural communication code and how it exist ...as functional movie thread. Based on the theories of Mary Douglas, Sigmund Freud, Louis-Vincent Thomas, and Claude Leví-Strauss. I present several movie examples and I propose subjective interpretation of the cannibalism motive in the films in several aspects: cannibalism as the symbolic tool of revenge (The cook, the thief, the wife and her lover), as an allegory of consumerism (Jan Švankmajer’s movies), need of meat as determinant of behavior of movie characters (Delicatessen), and cannibalism as grotesque form of helping each other (Fried Green Tomatoes).
