In the present study, we assembled and analyzed the mitogenomes of two Ramaria species. The assembled mitogenomes of Ramaria cfr. rubripermanens and R. rubella were circularized, with sizes of ...126,497 bp and 143,271 bp, respectively. Comparative mitogenome analysis showed that intron region contributed the most (contribution rate, 43.74%) to the size variations of Ramaria mitogenomes. The genetic contents, gene length, tRNAs, and codon usages of the two Ramaria mitogenomes varied greatly. In addition, the evolutionary rates of different core protein coding genes (PCGs) in Phallomycetidae mitogenomes varied. We detected large-scale gene rearrangements between Phallomycetidae mitogenomes, including gene displacement and tRNA doubling. A total of 4499 bp and 7746 bp aligned fragments were detected between the mitochondrial and nuclear genomes of R. cfr. rubripermanens and R. rubella, respectively, indicating possible gene transferring events. We further found frequent intron loss/gain and potential intron transfer events in Phallomycetidae mitogenomes during the evolution, and the mitogenomes of R. rubella contained a novel intron P44. Phylogenetic analyses using both Bayesian inference (BI) and Maximum Likelihood (ML) methods based on a combined mitochondrial gene dataset obtained an identical and well-supported phylogenetic tree for Basidiomycota, wherein R. cfr. rubripermanens and Turbinellus floccosus are sister species. This study served as the first report on mitogenomes from the genus Ramaria, which provides a basis for understanding the evolution, genetics, and taxonomy of this important fungal group.
In this study, we investigated the effect of solid-state fermentation of Pleurotus eryngii on the composition and antioxidant activity of Tartary buckwheat (TB). Firstly, the solid-state fermentation ...of P. eryngii mycelium with buckwheat was carried out, and the fermentation process was explored. The results of the extraction process and method selection experiments showed that the percolation extraction method was superior to the other two methods. The results of extraction rate, active components and antioxidant activity measurements before and after fermentation of TB extract showed that the extraction rate increased about 1.7 times after fermentation. Total flavonoids, rutin and triterpene contents were increased after fermentation compared to control. Meanwhile, LC-MS results showed an increase in the content of the most important substances in the fermented TB extract and the incorporation of new components, such as oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, amino acids, and D-chiral inositol. The fermented TB extract showed stronger antioxidant activity, while the protein and amino acid contents increased by 1.93-fold and 1.94-fold, respectively. This research was the first to use P. eryngii to ferment TB and prepared a lyophilized powder that could be used directly using vacuum freeze-drying technology. Not only the use of solid-state fermentation technology advantages of edible fungi to achieve value-added buckwheat, but also to broaden the scope of TB applications. This study will provide ideas and directions for the development and application of edible mushroom fermentation technology and TB.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an emerging technology that combines Raman spectroscopy and nanotechnology with great potential. This technology can accurately characterize molecular ...adsorption behavior and molecular structure. Moreover, it can provide rapid and sensitive detection of molecules and trace substances. In practical application, SERS has the advantages of portability, no need for sample pretreatment, rapid analysis, high sensitivity, and ‘fingerprint’ recognition. Thus, it has great potential in food safety detection. Alcoholic beverages have a long history of production in the world. Currently, a variety of popular products have been developed. With the continuous development of the alcoholic beverage industry, simple, on-site, and sensitive detection methods are necessary. In this paper, the basic principle, development history, and research progress of SERS are summarized. In view of the chemical composition, the beneficial and toxic components of alcoholic beverages and the practical application of SERS in alcoholic beverage analysis are reviewed. The feasibility and future development of SERS are also summarized and prospected. This review provides data and reference for the future development of SERS technology and its application in food analysis.
Autoimmune factor was regarded as one of the risk factors in the pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis (CP), especially for autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP). However, whether autoimmune factor plays a ...role in non-AIP CP or not was unknown.
Hospitalized patients with non-AIP CP from January 2010 to October 2016 were detected for 22 autoantibodies at the time of hospital admission. Autoantibodies with frequency > 0.5% were enrolled to calculate the frequency in historial healthy controls through literature search in PubMed. Differentially expressed autoantibodies were determined between patients and historial healthy controls, and related factors were identified by multivariate logistic regression analysis.
In a total of 557 patients, 113 cases were detected with 19 kinds of positive autoantibodies, among them anti-β2-glycoprotein I (β2-GPI) antibody was most frequent (9.16%). Compared with historial healthy controls, the frequencies of serum β2-GPI and anti SS-B antibody in patients were significantly higher, while frequencies of anti-smooth muscle antibody and anticardiolipin antibody were significantly lower (all P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis result showed that diabetes mellitus (OR = 2.515) and common bile duct stricture (OR = 2.844) were the risk factors of positive β2-GPI antibody in patients while diabetes mellitus in first-/second-/third-degree relatives (OR = 0.266) was the protective factor. There were no related factors for other three differentially expressed autoantibodies.
Four autoantibodies were expressed differentially between patients with non-AIP CP and historial healthy controls. Due to limited significance for diagnosis and treatment of chronic pancreatitis, autoantibodies detection is not recommended conventionally unless suspected of AIP.

This paper presents a new multisupervised coupled metric learning (MS-CML) method for low-resolution face image matching. While coupled metric learning has achieved good performance in degraded face ...recognition, most existing coupled metric learning methods only adopt the category label as supervision, which easily leads to changes in the distribution of samples in the coupled space. And the accuracy of degraded image matching is seriously influenced by these changes. To address this problem, we propose an MS-CML method to train the linear and nonlinear metric model, respectively, which can project the different resolution face pairs into the same latent feature space, under which the distance of each positive pair is reduced and that of each negative pair is enlarged. In this work, we defined a novel multisupervised objective function, which consists of a main objective function and an auxiliary objective function. The supervised information of the main objective function is the category label, which plays a major supervisory role. The supervised information of the auxiliary objective function is the distribution relationship of the samples, which plays an auxiliary supervisory role. Under the supervision of category label and distribution information, the learned model can better deal with the intraclass multimodal problem, and the features obtained in the coupled space are more easily matched correctly. Experimental results on three different face datasets validate the efficacy of the proposed method.
The effects of Ce-rich RE on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5Nd-xRE (x = 0, 1, 2, 3 wt%) alloys were investigated. The results indicated that the as-cast ...Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5Nd alloy mainly consisted of α-Mg, β-Li, AlLi, MgLi2Al and Al2Nd phases. With the addition of Ce-rich RE in the alloy, Al3RE and Al2RE phases generated and gradually grew into net-like or block-like structure. With the addition of RE, Al-RE phases generated by consuming Al element and, thus, less Al element was dissolved in the matrix and less AlLi phase formed. Furthermore, less AlLi phase means that more Li element released to cause the increase of β-Li phase and refine the α-Mg phase. Under the influence of these factors, adding more RE led to higher elongation and lower tensile strength and hardness. With the addition of Ce-rich RE, the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the as-cast Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5Nd alloy gradually decreased from 180 to 152 MPa and from 215 to 193 MPa, respectively, while the elongation was remarkably improved from 21.1% to 40.2%.

Pancreatic stones are pathognomonic of chronic pancreatitis (CP). This study aimed to determine the incidence, identify risk factors, and develop a nomogram for pancreatic stones in CP patients.
...Patients with CP admitted to our center from January 2000 to December 2013 were enrolled. Cumulative rates of pancreatic stones after the onset of CP and after the diagnosis of CP were calculated. Patients were randomly assigned, in a 2:1 ratio, to the training and validation cohort. Based on the training cohort, risk factors were identified through Cox proportional hazards regression model, and nomogram was developed. Internal and external validations were performed based on the training and validation cohort, respectively.
With a total of 2,153 CP patients, pancreatic stones were detected in 1,626 (75.5%) patients, with a median follow-up of 7.8 years. Age at the onset of CP, body mass index, smoking, diabetes mellitus, pancreatic pseudocyst, biliary stricture, severe acute pancreatitis, and type of pain were identified risk factors for pancreatic stones development. The nomogram with these 8 factors achieved good accuracy.
The nomogram achieved an individualized prediction of pancreatic stones development in CP. It may help the management of pancreatic stones.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of pancreatic extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (P-ESWL) in chronic pancreatitis (CP) patients with pancreatic stones after ...previous pancreatic surgery.
This is a single-center study prospectively conducted in pained CP patients undergoing P-ESWL. Patients with a pancreatic surgery history (PSH) were included in the PSH group, and patients without a PSH during the same period were assigned to the control group. The primary outcomes included complications associated with P-ESWL and pain relief. Secondary outcomes included stone clearance and improved quality-of-life scores.
From March 2011 to October 2014, P-ESWLs were performed on 1017 patients (50 in the PSH group, 967 in the control group). No significant difference was observed in the frequency of occurrence of P-ESWL complications between the PSH group and control group (14.0% vs 13.2%, P = 0.877). At follow-up (2.6 years; range, 1.0-4.5 years), pain relief was achieved in 36 patients (75.0%), and 37 patients (77.1%) experienced complete stone clearance. No significant differences were observed between these patients and the matched controls.
For CP patients who develop painful stones after pancreatic surgery, P-ESWL safely achieves significant pain relief and stone clearance, preventing the need for a repeat surgery.
Pediatric patients suffer from chronic pancreatitis (CP), especially those with diabetes mellitus (DM). This study aimed to identify the incidence of and risk factors for DM in pediatric CP.CP ...patients admitted to our center from January 2000 to December 2013 were assigned to the pediatric (<18 years old) and adult group according to their age at onset of CP. Cumulative rates of DM and risk factors for both groups were calculated and identified. The median follow-up duration for the whole cohort was 7.6 years. In these 2153 patients, 13.5% of them were pediatrics. The mean age at the onset and the diagnosis of CP in pediatrics were 11.622 and 19.727, respectively. DM was detected in 13.1% patients and 31.0% patients in the pediatric group and adult group, respectively. Age at the onset of CP, smoking history, body mass index (BMI), and etiology of CP were identified risk factors for DM in pediatrics.DM was detected in 13.1% pediatric patients. Age at the onset of CP, smoking history, BMI, and etiology of CP were identified risk factors for the development of DM in pediatric CP patients. The high-risk populations were suggested to be monitored frequently. They could also benefit from a lifestyle modification.
There is huge shortage of ERCP practitioners (ERCPists) in China, and ERCP training is urgently needed. ChangHai Advanced eNdoscopy Courses for ERCP (CHANCE) is a 4-month program for ERCP training ...since 2004. This study evaluated the efficiency of this short-term training model, and reported on the ERCP careers of the trainees following completion of the CHANCE program.
This study was a retrospective investigation included all the CHANCE trainees from Jan 2004 to Dec 2014. Questionnaires were sent to all trainees. The career competence percentage, ERCP careers and predictive factors of career competence were investigated and analyzed.
A total of 413 trainees participated in the CHANCE program over 11 years covered by the survey and 258 questionnaires were valid for the study. The mean (SD) age of the trainees was 35.36 (4.17), and the male to female ratio was 4.4:1. The average follow-up time was 7.77 (3.44) years. A total of 173 (67.1%) trainees had achieved career competence. In terms of ERCP careers, the mean annual ERCP volume was 120.60 (96.67), with a complication percentage of 8.2%. Hospital qualification, compliance with follow-up learning guidance, participating academic activity, and practitioner type were identified predictive factors of career competence.
As a short-term training program, the CHANCE achieved an acceptable career competence percentage, providing endoscopists more chances to learn ERCP and giving them appropriate training guidance for career competence. This training mode is worth promoting in developing countries with shortage of ERCPists.
