Competencies are very important for achieving inter-organizational competitiveness, so organizations strive to enhance these as part of human resources management development. Education and training ...of employees as a form of organizational learning is the key to ensuring their competencies for the job, which in turn leads to their increased motivation and greater efficiency and quality of work. The Slovenian wood industry is of strategic importance for the preservation of rural areas, and offers wide employment opportunities, but in recent years it has become less competitive, mainly because of the low level of knowledge and / or inadequate competencies of employees. In this study we examined the impact of using a competency model for the wood industry in designing training programs for different profiles of employees in order to raise their competencies. The results showed the positive effects of such training in enhancing the level of professional, job-specific and general competencies of employees, as well as reducing the related deficits. The results showed significant progress for almost all of the 91 competencies in the wood industry competency model, in which the overall proportion of deficits (grades 1 and 2) decreased by 58%. Such training can thus ensure the greater competitiveness of the Slovenian wood industry, and the greater flexibility and efficiency of the related companies.

SWOT analysis was used for analyzing the strengths and opportunities as well threats and weaknesses of cooperation of furniture industry with designers in product development process. The leading management of furniture companies and designers indentifi ed greater creativity (more innovative solutions), better design and more fresh ideas as the highest strength and opportunity of cooperation.
Cilj istraživanja bio je odabrati najpogodniju vrstu adheziva za novorazvijeni kutni spoj s drvenim prstenom. Primjena tog spoja najčešća je u proizvodnji prozorskih okvira. Kutni spoj s drvenim ...prstenom rezultat je slovenskog znanja i zaštićen je međunarodnim patentom. Rezultati sile loma u kutnih spojeva napravljenih uz pomoć različitih ljepila ispitivani su standardnom metodom na kidalici. Najbolji rezultati postignuti su upotrebom polivinilacetatnog ljepila grupe D3. Prednost primjene spoja s drvenim prstenom jest način proizvodnje koji omogućuje izradu okvira od prethodno površinski obrađenih elemenata koji se neposredno prije spajanja pile na željenu duljinu. Sastavljanjem dijelova proces izrade prozorskog krila završava. Zbog toga je izuzetno važno odabrati odgovarajuće ljepilo koje može potpuno ispuniti mjesto spoja i prekriti cijeli nezaštićen čelni dio elemenata u sastavu. Za tu su svrhu u eksperimentu upotrijebljena poliuretanska ljepila koja tijekom otvrdnjavanja djelomično ekspandiraju.

The destructive strength of angular joints adhered with different glues was tested by the tensile-testing machine. Polyvinyl acetate glue of the D3 group was found to be the most appropriate from the point of view of strength. The biggest advantage of using a joint with wooden ring lies in the possibility of manufacturing wooden frames from finished elements. In this way, the process of manufacturing a window ends after assembling its parts. It is, therefore, very important to choose the right glue that can completely fill the junction and cover the whole unprotected front part of the joint. For this purpose, polyurethane glues were used in the experiment, as they slightly expand during the hardening phase.

Object-oriented modelling of cyber-physical systems with Modelica and similar environments has brought many advantages, especially the efficient re-use of models and thus the possibility of creating powerful multi-domain libraries. Unfortunately, the models have become highly complex, which causes serious problems during processing and execution. Consequently, verification and debugging is becoming an increasingly challenging task. The continuous investigation of simplifications and reductions in all phases of model developments is thus urgent.
The present paper deals with reduction methods based on metric ranking and preserve realisation, which means that the structure and the parameters of the model remain physically interpretable. Two model-reduction methods are described and implemented in Open Modelica. The first operates on a set of differential-algebraic equations, and the second is based on modified bond-graphs-reduction techniques. The latter approach is suitable for component-based models in Modelica that are usually represented graphically with object diagrams. The paper briefly describes the research area, the problems of the adoption of the developed model reduction techniques to the Modelica environments, and the final implementation. Both proposed approaches are tested on the model of a car suspension system and briefly discussed.
The COVID-19 pandemic threatens global newborn health. We describe the current state of national and local protocols for managing neonates born to SARS-CoV-2-positive mothers.
Care providers from ...neonatal intensive care units on six continents exchanged and compared protocols on the management of neonates born to SARS-CoV-2-positive mothers. Data collection was between March 14 and 21, 2020. We focused on central protocol components, including triaging, hygiene precautions, management at delivery, feeding protocols, and visiting policies.
Data from 20 countries were available. Disease burden varied between countries at the time of analysis. In most countries, asymptomatic infants were allowed to stay with the mother and breastfeed with hygiene precautions. We detected discrepancies between national guidance in particular regarding triaging, use of personal protection equipment, viral testing, and visitor policies. Local protocols deviated from national guidance.
At the start of the pandemic, lack of evidence-based guidance on the management of neonates born to SARS-CoV-2-positive mothers has led to ad hoc creation of national and local guidance. Compliance between collaborators to share and discuss protocols was excellent and may lead to more consensus on management, but future guidance should be built on high-level evidence, rather than expert consensus.
At the rapid onset of the COVID19 pandemic, all countries presented protocols in place for managing infants at risk of COVID19, with a certain degree of variations among regions. A detailed review of ad hoc guidelines is presented, similarities and differences are highlighted. We provide a broad overview of currently applied recommendations highlighting the need for international context-relevant coordination.
