This study evaluated the effects of chronic stress and lithium treatments on oxidative stress parameters in hippocampus, hypothalamus, and frontal cortex. Adult male Wistar rats were divided into two ...groups: control and submitted to chronic variate stress, and subdivided into treated or not with LiCl. After 40 days, rats were killed, and lipoperoxidation, production free radicals, total antioxidant reactivity (TAR) levels, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities were evaluated. The results showed that stress increased lipoperoxidation and that lithium decreased free radicals production in hippocampus; both treatments increased TAR. In hypothalamus, lithium increased TAR and no effect was observed in the frontal cortex. Stress increased SOD activity in hippocampus; while lithium increased GPx in hippocampus and SOD in hypothalamus. We concluded that lithium presented antioxidant properties, but is not able to prevent oxidative damage induced by chronic variate stress.

Com isso em mente, o objetivo principal do artigo é o de discutir o papel da expectativa ocidental na formulação do Oriente, alinhado, portanto, com a teoria Construtivista e com a Análise do Discurso Francesa e tendo como foco analítico este período de mudança na Tunísia. Transbordando o objeto em questão, o artigo, nesse sentido, busca debater quais são os atores que detêm voz no Sistema Internacional e, por conseguinte, retêm para si o poder da representação.

We suggest that the manipulation of glutamatergic activity induced by stress may be in part responsible for the neuroendangerment observed after stress exposure, and that, in spite of the described neuroprotective effects of lithium, it increased the neuronal vulnerability after OGD.
O chorume ainda é um sério problema ambiental. No entanto, estudos vem desenvolvendo meios para a utilização desse efluente altamente contaminante em benefício para a agricultura sustentável. Este ...estudo teve por objetivo verificar através de chorume líquido produzido por composteira alternativa uso como biofertilizante no desenvolvimento e análises de parâmetros de plantas de feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris) cv. BRS FC 402. O chorume foi preparado a partir de resíduos orgânicos de hortaliças, leguminosas e foliares. Diferentes doses de chorume foram aplicadas por pulverização após a germinação do feijoeiro totalizando 3 aplicações com intervalos de 15 dias. Após aplicações, foram analisados parâmetros vegetativos para diâmetro de caule, número de folhas, altura de planta, comprimento raiz, número de vagens, massa fresca e massa seca em P. vulgaris. Os resultados demonstram que não houve incremento significativo entre as diferentes dosagens de chorume em comparação com a testemunha para todos os parâmetros vegetativos analisados. Ainda, foi observado que o diâmetro de caule e número de folhas é prejudicado em todas as concentrações de chorume aplicadas. Este foi um estudo piloto para esse cv. de Phaseolus vulgaris, estudos futuros deverão ser realizados avaliando características físico-químicas do solo e do chorume, sua influência sobre a disposição de minerais, influência do pH estabilidado e ácido in natura e dosagens inferiores e superiores as usuais.
Pleasant and unpleasant flavors and odors can modulate pain perception, and the efficacy of sweet flavors in reducing pain seems to be related to its hedonic value. Chronic variate stress paradigm is ...a model of depression, and is suggested to induce anhedonia. We observed previously that lithium may prevent behavioral and neurochemical alterations induced by chronic stress; so we hypothesized that chronically stressed animals may present different nociceptive response to pleasant and unpleasant tastes that could be prevented by lithium treatment. Adult male Wistar rats were divided into four groups, control and stressed, treated or not with lithium. A Chronic Variate Stress paradigm was used, and lithium was added to the chow. After 40 days of treatment, the tail flick latency of the animals was evaluated, and rats were immediately placed in a box with access to a 5% acetic acid solution (acid flavor). After 5 min, tail flick latency was measured again. On the following day, animals were submitted to the same procedure, with the substitution of acetic acid by condensed sweet milk (sweet flavor). The stressed group was the only group who did not present analgesia after sweet taste exposition. All groups, except the control group, presented increased tail flick latency after exposition to the acid flavor. These results indicate that pleasant and unpleasant flavors present different relevance for the induction of antinociception in stressed animals, and the absence of sweet flavor-induced analgesia may represent an anhedonic effect of the chronic variate stress paradigm. On the other hand, perception of different flavors may be more prominent in animals treated with lithium.
Bauhinia is a botanical genus widely distributed in parts of Asia and South America. The plant bears beautiful and aromatic flowers that add ornamental beauty to parks and gardens, in addition to ...being used in medicine and ayurverda. This study aimed to evaluate the floral ethanolic extract of B. variegata, B. forficata and B. purpurea in fungal inhibition against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Colletotrichum acutatum. Flowers were harvested in 2021 and 2022. The floral ethanolic extract was produced by the static maceration method. The antifungal activity was performed by the agar diffusion method at different extract s;concentrations. Bauhinia floral extracts showed a potential fungicidal effect on fungal species evaluated in particular for Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, followed by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Colletotrichum acutatum.
