V eseju z naslovom Feminizem in umetnost v devetdesetih avtorica opisuje spomine in refleksije na takratno dogajanje v Ljubljani in širše. Opisuje družbeno stvarnost, okoliščine na področju ...umetnostne zgodovine in zgodovine ter osebno izkušnjo seznanjanja s feminizmom in ženskimi študijami. Svet umetnosti, še posebej pa umetnostne zgodovine, je bil takrat izrazito konzervativno naravnan, zato je bilo povezovanje obeh področij - feminizma in umetnostne zgodovine - predrzno početje. Avtorica je doktorirala s področja feministične umetnostne zgodovine, sodelovala pri ustanavljanju revije za ženske študije Delta in pri ustanavljanju festivala sodobne umetnosti Mesto žensk. Interpretacija umetnosti (tako pretekle kot sodobne) z vidika feministične umetnostne zgodovine je bila v devetdesetih izzivalna poteza, ki je razburkala takratno strokovno javnost, obenem pa je pionirsko delovanje posameznic v osemdesetih in devetdesetih omogočilo bistvene premike v razumevanju vloge spola v naši družbi.
The passage to modernism in the field of visual arts is marked by numerous events in society like the change of status of the artist, change in educational system, new system of exhibition politics, ...different role of the art customer, the development of art criticism & art market in private galleries. All these processes influenced the development of the art styles & formation of different attitude towards artistic practice. The article presents systems of education & representation, which were in use from renaissance, & the role of marginalized groups like foreigners, women, non-academics, by changing of the established system. Discriminatory principles of French academic educational system & representations of artists caused many schisms & enabled development of new forms of education & representation. At the same time we can follow numerous endeavours of French academy to adapt to new circumstances & enable the most just system of education & representation. Slovene artists Ivana Kobilca, Jurij Subic & Jozef Petkovsek were temporally living in Paris during those changes & were trying, like so many others, to get some education & to succeed in the centre of art. 22 References.
