PVM which infects Slovenian potato cv. Vesna was isolated from in vitro potato plantlets, propagated in tomato, and purified from fresh propagative tomato plants.
In the non- or slightly polluted areas the highest total mercury concentrations were found in the digestive glands, while in the polluted area the highest concentrations were found in the gills.
The paper describes the growth experiment of the autochtonous species Artemia salina fed on different monocultures of unicellular algae Isochrysis galbana, Dunaliella sp. in Aphanothece sp. used as a ...food source as well as in different mediums. The object of our observation was the size and sexual structure, growth, mortality and food regimes of Artemia in individual cultures.
Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) was established in the acid extract of a mature embryo of Juglans condiformis. Biogenic monoamine from the extract was separated on the ion exchanger Amberline CG-50 ...and detected by chromatographic, and spectrofluorimetric methods. Serotonin was detected in a quantity of 170 microgramme x gramme- fresh weight. The localization of serotonine was detected in the embryo by a histichemical reaction with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde in HCL, or with ninhydrin in acetic acid.
Ultrastructural changes in the embryo, and separately in the endosperm, before and after the radicle protrusion of the silver fir seeds (Abies alba Mill.) were studied. Lipid bodies and protein ...bodies are the main storage structure in the cells of the seeds after the imbibition for 24 hrs. Rare microbodies were also visible. The cellular organization and degradation of the storage material were more rapid in the embryonic than those in the endosperm cells. After the radicle protrusion, numerous mitochondia, dictyosomes and microbodies were visible in the endosperm cells, indicating high metabolic activity. Chloroplasts with many thylakoids and large starch granules developed in the growing embryo.
Explanted pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) cotyledons were susceptible to tumor transformation. Crown gall tumors were induced using Agrobacterium tumefaciens (wild strain B6S3/pTi). Tumor proliferation ...on intact plants was not achieved. Permanent crown gall tissue line was established on a MS medium without any growth regulators. Peroxidase activity in tumor and callus tissue lines was significantly higher than that in the plant organs. The electrophoretic protein petterns of tumor and different callus tissue lines seemed to be similar, showing only slight differences between embryogenic and non-embryogenic callus lines, or between normal and tumor tissues.
