This article takes Pompeu Fabra’s Diccionari general de la llengua catalana (1932 = Diccionari Fabra, DGLC) as a source from which information on lexical combinations is extracted. Those ...lexicographical entries are taken into account in which Fabra establishes a combinatorial constraint, according to which an adjective can be joined only with certain nouns or classes of nouns. The article has a dual purpose: on the one hand, to describe the type of restrictive combinations shown in the dictionary and, on the other hand, to reflect on whether it is appropriate to describe them all as collocations. Therefore, the existence of different combinations with respect to the constraints and to their stability is verified. According to these differentiating characteristics, it is proposed to reserve the term collocation to refer to stable and highly restrictive noun-adjective combinations, in which, moreover, the relationship between the denoted entities is not due to extralinguistic reasons. Karl Bonhoeffer war einer der bedeutendsten deutschen Neurologen und Psychiater des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sein Sohn, der Theologe Dietrich Bonhoeffer, beteiligte sich in seinen letzten Lebensjahren am ...Widerstand gegen das NS-Regime und wurde 1945 hingerichtet. Uwe Gerrens untersucht, wie der Mediziner und der Theologe auf das nationalsozialistische Programm der Zwangssterilisation und die so genannte Euthanasie reagierten. Anhand der Quellen wird deutlich, wie der Mediziner Karl Bonhoeffer als Vorsitzender des Deutschen Vereins für Psychiatrie und Klinikleiter in der Charité Verantwortung für seine Patienten übernahm und sich an deren Persönlichkeitsrechten orientierte. Der Theologe Dietrich Bonhoeffer setzte sich in einer dicht geschriebenen "Ethik" mit dieser Problematik auseinander und entwickelte eine Theorie der Verantwortungsethik und der Menschenrechte.

In the 1930s and 1940s, a man named Jan Welzl lived in the Yukon Territory's Dawson City, a town more or less surrounded by goldfields. Unlike other Dawsonites, however, Welzl did not prospect for ...gold. Instead, he occupied himself with the construction of a perpetual motion machine. This contraption seems to have been composed of various pipe fittings, axles, and counterweights, with the occasional beer bottle and tin can thrown in for good measure; it also had a cavorting ball, to which Welzl- called "John Inventor" by his neighbours-would point and, in his typically broken English, say: "She go up, she go down, she go "yah, yah, yah." Lecturing did not bring in much money, so Welzl started sending articles to newspapers. There was one problem with this idea: the man who signed his articles "An Arctic Bismarck" or "Bear Eater" was a terrible writer. In fact, a first book, called The Hard Times of an Eskimo Chieftain in Europe (Czech title: Trampoty eskymáckého náãelníka v Evropû: NejtûÏper thousandí léta Jana Welzla; Golombek and Valenta, 1932), had been almost totally rewritten from letters that he'd sent to the Czech poet Rudolf Tesnohlidek. But because the articles about his Siberian adventures seemed to contain some good stories, they were passed on to two legitimate writers, a pair of journalists named Bedrich Golombek and Edvard Valenta. The two men paid Welzl a visit and decided that their garrulous countryman had a book in him...as long as he didn't write it himself. Of course, Golombek had done no such thing. But Vilhjalmur Stefansson, perhaps feeling guilty that he'd earlier doubted Welzl's existence, looked into the matter. He discovered that there was, in fact, a legitimate contract, and that Welzl had even signed a statement testifying to the book's veracity. Thus he was powerless to act on Welzl's behalf. But he did write a chapter in his autobiography entitled "Arctic Fantasy" about the person whom he had originally thought was a nonperson (Stefansson, 1964:303 - 308).

William Blackwood and Sons was a family firm founded in 1804 in Edinburgh Scotland to publish Scottish-based authors and a range of prose and fiction, which had risen to become one of the major players in the British literary market in 1870s. Under the guidance of John Blackwood it had encouraged and developed the careers of Anthony Trollope, George Eliot, and Laurence Oliphant, among others; run strong lists in history, ecclesiastical, and educational areas; and become identified with a conservative imperialism that embraced patriotism, honor, civil justice, and the preservation of the political status quo.
