Émile Durkheim's reception in the German-speaking world during his lifetime is generally considered as having been negligible. However, the German translation of Les Règles de la méthode sociologique, published in 1908, reveals an underestimated impact on the Austrian sociologist Wilhelm Jerusalem. This article aims at reconstructing its three main topics: methods, knowledge and morals.
Without intending to promote a new reading of Émile Durkheim's work, this article simply aims at contextualizing further the French sociologist's works so as to revise some of their usual interpretations through the contribution of the anthropology of knowledge and the history of scholarly practices. What is at stake here is the necessity to go deeper into the text in order to bring to light what Durkheim assumed to be important as he was writing and practicing his sociology, namely issues of style, exposition as well argumentation.
According to Durkheim, a social phenomenon cannot be explained without going back to its origins. This sheds light on the way he perceives the relationships between sociology and history. This article aims in particular at clarifying what Durkheim means by "comparative method".
51 letters ...sent by Durkheim to Lévy-Bruhl between 1893 and 1916 shed some light on the professional and private relationships that existed between these two colleagues and on the context of the academic life in which they both evolved.

This article mainly employs a traditional approach of textual analysis to open up a relatively neglected topic, the question of creativity in Durkheim's work, but especially in Les Formes ...élémentaires de la vie religieuse. It is also especially in a focus on his insistence on a sui generis social realm, while in the course of this exploring his use of terms such as "substratum", "fusion", and "synthesis", as well as examining issues of duality, effervescence, rhythms of life and revolutions. It concludes with his worries over a modern crisis and with his hope in the creative energies of effervescence to try to overcome it.
The authors are presenting dynamics of views on the Gulag phenomenon in temporal, methodological, and linguistic discourses. Drawing upon the world's historiography and conducting comparative analysis of schools, currents, and scientific paradigms can be regarded as one of the priority areas in the development of modern historical science. This has to do with global trends in accumulating and deepening historical knowledge. The Russian-language historiography managed to come out of methodological and political isolation and regain its rightful place in the study of the Stalin era. At this point, we can admit the presence of two leading linguistic scholarly communities of Stalinism researchers.
