Betas from return regressions are commonly used to measure systematic financial market risks. “Good” beta measurements are essential for a range of empirical inquiries in finance and macroeconomics. ...We introduce a novel econometric framework for the nonparametric estimation of time-varying betas with high-frequency data. The “local Gaussian” property of the generic continuous-time benchmark model enables optimal “finite-sample” inference in a well-defined sense. It also affords more reliable inference in empirically realistic settings compared to conventional large-sample approaches. Two applications pertaining to the tracking performance of leveraged ETFs and an intraday event study illustrate the practical usefulness of the new procedures. (JEL C22, C58, G12, G23)
L’intégration de l'interculturalité aux programmes de langues bi/multilingues est une revendication croissante des chercheurs colombiens dans les domaines de l'enseignement de l'anglais et de ...l'enseignement-apprentissage des langues. Le but principal de cet article est de répondre à une question concernant le rôle de l'interculturalité dans les programmes de langues, plus précisément, le Programme National Bilingue de mon pays (Colombia Bilingüe 2018-2022) et son impact au niveau scolaire. La méthodologie implique la révision des principales revues colombiennes et internationales d’enseignement d’anglais et de langues, ainsi que des documents nationaux concernés par la politique de bilinguisme en Colombie. Les résultats révèlent quatre défis dans l'articulation de l'interculturalité et du programme Colombia Bilingüe 2018–2022. Enfin, les conclusions soutiennent la demande des académiciens colombiens concernant l'interculturalité dans l'enseignement des langues et lancent un appel aux parties prenantes pour relever les défis identifiés et s'engager sur une voie interculturelle dans le Programme National Bilingue.

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed for a year. While getting through with the organizing of an Olympic Games amid a global pandemic is seen ...as a success by many (‘The Good’), it was overshadowed by the relentless virus as the Games closed with a muted spectacle in 2021 (‘The Bad’). Pushing on with the Games after the postponement, at the height of the pandemic, has resulted in strong criticisms and caused damage to the organizers (‘The Ugly’). This study seeks to assess the crisis communication strategies implemented by the organizers as they navigated the capricious condition of trudging on with a pandemic era sport spectacle. Through examining the organizers’ crisis communications to the challenges that emerged and public reactions to the strategies, this study seeks to understand the outcome of the strategies on the organizational image and reputation. It also provides reflections on the management of the Games through the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, it is argued that the situational crisis communication theory offers a useful framework that can provide theoretical connections between crisis management in a sports mega-event and organizational response strategies.

A prediction of internal credit variations in Russia in the near future is given in light of various scenarios of interest rate fluctuations.
El conflicto armado en Colombia ha impactado de manera diferencial a hombres y mujeres. Esta situación se reconoce en el Acuerdo Final para la Terminación del Conflicto y la Construcción de una Paz ...Estable y Duradera alcanzado con las Farc-EP. No obstante, la ideología que permea el periodo presidencial 2018-2022 plantea una serie de obstáculos para el cumplimiento del enfoque de género incorporado en dicho acuerdo. Por lo anterior, este artículo plantea un análisis de la implementación del enfoque de género a la luz de la ideología imperante identificando los obstáculos que esta representa para aquel. Para esto, se desarrolla una metodología cualitativa, utilizando técnicas de investigación documental y análisis textual; señalando la ausencia histórica del enfoque de género en procesos anteriores, su incorporación sustancial en el Acuerdo Final y la tergiversación y el consecuente abandono de esta perspectiva en los antecedentes ideológicos y las propuestas previstas para el nuevo periodo presidencial. Se indicará por qué esto último constituye un retroceso preocupante en la garantía de la diversidad.
