The curriculum field "Languages and communication" for primary education enables students to develop simple skills, such as: the difference between literary and non-literary texts, the recognition of ...the basic language system forms (phonetics, morphology, syntax), the development of expression skills through different linguistic means. This curricular area in primary education, based on the Curricular Framework, contains the following courses: mother tongue, first foreign language (English language, German language). This field also prepares students for functional, clear and substantive communication. Given the importance of using modern teaching methods, we intend to treat this research paper from the point of view of the application of contemporary methods in the Albanian language course, which we consider necessary for the identification of activities that influence the implementation of the curriculum in the course of the Albanian language. In order to carry out the research, we use the qualitative and quantitative method, preparing a questionnaire for the teachers of the Albanian language at the level of primary and lower secondary education, more precisely of grades VI-IX, in the Municipality of Gjilan, Vitia, Kamenica and Ferizaj. We also do a partial observation during the lessons wiin the Albanian Language course. From the findings of the research, we consider that contemporary methods are applied in the teaching of the Albanian language subject in primary education.
This paper reports on the creation of a corpus for the Albanian language that is intended for training and evaluating Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems. The corpus comprises 100 h of audio ...recordings taken from 200 audiobooks and covers a wide range of topics with a rich vocabulary. The audio recordings were transcribed manually, strictly verbatim, and listened to carefully several times to ensure accuracy. The corpus was evaluated using various end-to-end models as well as Transformer-based architectures. The evaluation was conducted on both the training and testing sets, with Word Error Rate (WER) and Character Error Rate (CER) being considered as evaluation metrics. The results of the architectures trained with this corpus were compared with the results of the LibriSpeech corpus in English. The best architecture based on end-to-end models yielded 5% WER and 1% CER on the training set and 35% WER and 11% CER on the testing set. The transformer-based architecture yielded great results in the testing set, reaching a WER of 18%.
This research paper will analyze the Anglicisms in headlines of some online media outlets in Albanian in the aspect of their usage. The impact of linguistic and media globalism on the information and ...education of news readers will be the basis of the paper when it comes mainly to the impact of online media outlets, which are very popular and easily accessible to each user. While analyzing the Anglicisms, three online media outlets in three regions with Albanian population have been selected with a particular focus: http://www.balkanweb.com/live/#gsc.tab=0 from Albania; http://www.indeksonline.net from Kosovo; and http://www.portalb.mk/ from North Macedonia, while not being limited to only these media outlets, in the general aspect of the use of Anglicisms. During the theoretical and practical explication of the paper, after choosing the research questions, the authors have endeavored to find proven answers on why the use of Anglicisms in online media outlets is in Albanian so desirable and necessary, and in this particular case, in their news titles that have much more readers and impact to all the readers. Furthermore, the authors have sought to give explanations as to whether the Albanian language can substitute all the Anglicism used in online media with its original words and whether Albanian is joining other minor languages when it comes to the great influence of English in the processes of globalization and North-Atlantic integration, and so on. Furthermore, in the final part of the paper, the authors will lay out other results of the findings of this paper, in relation to media and language, to carry out a general scientific analysis in general in the field of communication in online media outlets in Albanian.
•Linguistic and acoustic experts provided translation candidate terms for the Albanian PAQs.•A model fitting quantitative approach was used to quantitatively evaluate the translation candidate ...terms.•Gjallërues (Eventful), Dinamik (Vibrant), I këndshëm (Pleasant), I qetë (Calm), I shkretë (Uneventful), Monoton (Monotonous), I bezdisshëm (Annoying), and Kaotik (Chaotic) were identified as the Albanian PAQs.
The Perceived Affective Qualities (PAQs) outlined in the ISO/TS 12913-2:2018 standard have been translated into many languages and are referred to as a global standard to evaluate the acoustic environment in various contexts. There is a growing legislative framework in Albania that addresses noise pollution through Law No. 9774 and Guideline No.8. The aim of this study, which recognizes the increasing trends in acoustic research in Albania, and acknowledges the gap regarding soundscape descriptors has been to develop equivalent versions of the soundscape descriptors defined in ISO/TS 12913-2:2018 by translating the PAQs into the Albanian Language through a model fitting approach. This study, which has followed the Soundscape Attributes Translation Project (SATP) guidelines, has employed a mixed method, that is, both a qualitative investigation and a quantitative evaluation based on specific criteria built upon previous work, have been conducted. In the first phase (1a), eight linguistic experts independently translated eight affective attributes, which were later verified in the second phase (1b) by acoustic experts. After three potential translations had been generated for each of the eight PAQs, a quantitative approach, namely phase (1c), which had been proposed in previous SATP studies, was employed. Thirty-two native Albanian individuals, all of whom were proficient in English, evaluated the translated candidate terms in an online questionnaire, considering such criteria as their Appropriateness, Understandability, Clarity, Antipodal Antonymity, Orthogonal Unbiasedness, Connotativeness, Non-connotativeness, and Implicative Balance. The collected data were then subjected to a series of Kruskall Wallis tests with Bonferroni corrections to determine the final translation for each PAQ. In conclusion, eight Albanian attribute translations have been defined. Despite some limitations, our findings are promising and suggest that the selected attributes are validated inputs to the next steps of the research which involve listening experiments (SATP phase 2).

The verb system of the Albanian language in its present form is quite rich in different tense and modal forms. Some of them are inherited from the oldest stages of the language, others are relatively ...new internal creations. Although this verb form has been studied by a number of prominent albanologists such as F. Bopp (1854) (Franz Bopp), G. Meyer (1888) (Gustav Meyer), H. Pedersen (1895) (Holger Pedersen), Dh. Kamarda (1864) (Dhimitër Kamarda), Gj. Pekmezi (1908) (Gjergj Pekmez), M. Domi (1961) (Mahir Domi), Sh. Demiraj (1986) (Shaban Demiraj), its origin and development remain unclear and many questions remain open. In this paper, we deal with its historical development, its use, and we will give the opinions of other well-known linguists about this verb form. We will also analyse two books in terms of how much the optative is used in the standard language and how much in the dialect. Based on the analysis of specific examples, we concluded that the optative mood in the Albanian language is more commonly used in old texts, ballads, folktales, and dialects, and it is increasingly less utilised in standard literature, indicating a trend towards reduction, similar to what occurs in other Indo-European languages.
The Sonority Theory, which is the fundamental model in syllabification, has been one of the most researched theories for more than a century. Although this theory has been treated by Albanian ...linguists, it is necessary that a few supplementations and precisions be made. Through this paper, we intend to provide a more comprehensive view of this theory and its mechanisms in Standard Albanian. The aim of this paper was to prove that the sonority theory is applicable to the standard Albanian, because the interviewed students were its native speakers. The object of this paper were bi-consonantal clusters, that are numerous in Albanian. Based in the material comprised in the Dictionary of Present-Day Albanian (1980) we explored bi-consonantal clusters appearing in onsets and codas, which were classified into three kinds: a) consonant clusters in full compliance with the sonority sequencing principle, b) consonant clusters that violate the sonority sequencing principle, and c) consonant clusters that have the same scale of sonority. From the undertaken analysis, conclusions were drawn as to the dispersion of sounds in the onset and coda for the syllable model of standard Albanian, and suggestions were given according to the orthography of some words with consonantal clusters that violate the sonority principle.
It is known that the grammatical structure of today's literary Albanian, in general terms, reflects the grammatical structure of the vernacular, so in today's stage of the development of standard ...Albanian and with the demands that are posed to Albanian linguistics, the study of the vernacular takes special importance as a necessity to know better and more deeply the grammatical structure of the Albanian language, and its originality. The oral creativity of our people has directly served linguistic studies and it is no coincidence that a large part of Albanian language researchers are among the most diligent collectors and publishers. With such an aim, the object of our paper is precisely the study of the dialects of Albanian, trying to highlight some of the peculiarities of the syntax in the various dialects of Albanian, concentrating more on the subjunctive period.

Albanian (endonym: Shqip; Glotto: alba1268) is an Indo-European language which has been suggested to form an independent branch of the Indo-European family since the middle of the nineteenth century ...(Bopp 1855, Pedersen 1897, Çabej 1976). Though the origin of the language has been debated, the prevailing opinion in the literature is that it is a descendant of Illyrian (Hetzer 1995). Albanian is currently spoken by around 6–7 million people (Rusakov 2017: 552; Curtis 2018: 1800), the majority of whom live in Albania and Kosovo, with others in Italy, Greece, North Macedonia and Montenegro. Figure 1 shows a map of the main Albanian-speaking areas of Europe, with major linguistic subdivisions according to Gjinari (1988) and Elsie & Gross (2009) marked by different colours and shades.
