The Plio-quaternary Foum El Kouss volcano (Moroccan Anti-Atlas) is composed of pyroclastic rocks and two volcanic phases of Pleistocene to Recent age. Massive lava flows : olivine nephelinites first and pyroxene nephelinites toward the top. Carbonatite inclusions have been found in the pyroxene nephelinites. Major mineral phases are SrO-rich calcite, SrO-rich fluorapatite, ZrO-rich pyrochlore, barian titanian biotite, magnetite (with ilme-nite exsolution) and salite. Reaction rims around these enclaves, made of fluorine rich glass, confirm their xenolitic origine.
Spinel lherzolitic xenoliths also found in these nephelinites, display mineralogical evidence of interaction (of carbonated fluids) with the lithospheric mantle.
Such an association of carbonatite inclusion and spinel Iherzolitite with Foum El Kouss nephelinites is favour of the presence of an underlying carbonatite complex and carbonated mantle in the Anti-Atlas region.
In this paper we describe a new method of medical image registration. We formulate the registration problem as a minimization problem involving robust estimators. We propose an efficient hierarchical optimization framework which is both multiresolution and multigrid in order to accelerate the algorithm and to improve the quality of the estimation. An anatomical segmentation of the cortex is introduced in the adaptive partitioning of the volume on which the multigrid minimization is based. This allows to limit the estimation to the areas of interest, to accelerate the algorithm, and to refine the estimation in specified areas. The benefits of this method are demonstrated on real data and its performances are objectively evaluated on simulated data.

The Cupressaceae Cupressus atlantica (Gaussen1950), which shows a unique biological diversity, plays an important socio-economic and ecological role. However, these courses often presteppicare under increasing pressures mainly antropic origin which, with other factors such as dryness or pests of cones and seeds, eventually threatening the future of Atlas cypress. Currently, Moroccan forestry adopt guidelines that are to use more native species, including the Atlas cypress in reforestation programs. Thus, it is very important to master the technical route of production of seed quality. This requires increased efforts in research to improve knowledge of the various stages of this process, from seed collection to the acclimatization of plants through storage and seed germination. To address this problem, it is very important to understand and control the technical route of seed quality production. This requires increased efforts in research to improve knowledge about various stages of this process, from seed collection to the acclimation of young plants through the collection/storage and seed germination. This study aims to investigate the germination patterns of this conifer. First, several pretreatment techniques have been applied to improvethe germination by removing the seed embryo dormancy. Relating to the treatments of germinations, the result obtained with sulfuric acid showed very low germination rates or zero for concentrations of 50, 70 and 80%, contrary to what was quoted by Bechir (2004) at the Atlas cypress. These data also disagree with the results foundby Zine El Abidine (2003) at the red juniper. The germination rate decreases significantly with increasing the concentration of sulfuric acid and also due to an increase of the temperature oft he water. Similar observations were reported for other species such as Acacia farnesiana (FAO,1992). It seems that mechanical scarification and the treatment the warm water (60°C) induce germination much earlier than the witness. The same results were observed at several species such as Acacia nilotica, Cassia fistula and Acacia farnesiana(FAO 1992). At the Atlas cypress, our results showed a decrease in germination according to the increase of water stress expressed by a rise in the concentration of PEG 6000. These results are consistent with what has been observed in other conifers such as Cedrus libani (Dirik 1999), Pinus halepensis and Pinus brutia (Calamassi et al. 1980; Thanos & Skordilis 1987). Note that for this salt stress decreased germination rate as a function of salt stress is more remarkable (Figure 3). Moreover, to water stress, the tendency is almost the same as that observed in the salt stress. However, the delay of germination is less pronounced than in the salt stress (Figure5). In general, the germination rate decreases significantly with increasing water stress. Similar results were recorded in several species such as cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani) (Dirik 1999). The results presented in this work have shown the undeniable effect of mechanical scarification and hot water on seed germination of Atlas cypress. In addition, water stress and salt stress, expressed by the increase in polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000) and NaCl, have a depressive effect on seed germination of this endemic conifer studied, at least at the origin of Aghbar.
