While seeking strategies for interfering with Plasmodium development in vertebrate/invertebrate hosts, we tested the activity of gomesin, an antimicrobial peptide isolated from the hemocytes of the ...spider Acanthoscurria gomesiana. Gomesin was tested against asexual, sexual and pre-sporogonic forms of Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium berghei parasites. The peptide inhibited the in vitro growth of intraerythrocytic forms of P. falciparum. When gomesin was added to in vitro culture of P. berghei mature gametocytes, it significantly inhibited the exflagellation of male gametes and the formation of ookinetes. In vivo, the peptide reduced the number of oocysts of both Plasmodium species in Anopheles stephensi mosquitoes, and did not appear to affect the mosquitoes. These properties make gomesin an excellent candidate as a transmission blocking agent for the genetic engineering of mosquitoes.
The modernization in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has brought a greater change by introducing new signals and services with new availabilities and applications. The primary importance of ...introducing S and C band services is to improve the timing performance, robustness and accuracy in addition to the existing L band signals. India is also developing its own regional navigation system using BOC(5,2) modulation in the S band. The main objective of the paper is to analyze the spectral characteristics of BOC(5,2) signal and evaluate its spectral compatibility with other existing GPS and GALILEO signals. The spectral properties like spectral separation coefficient (SSC), maximum value of the spectrum (MVS), Effective rectangular bandwidth, Root mean square bandwidth (RMS) and efficiency parameters like power containment factor and spectral efficiency have been considered for comparing different modulation schemes. The spectral separation coefficients (SSC) of the desired and interfering signals are evaluated by normalizing power spectral densities to both infinite and finite transmission bandwidth and integrated within the bandwidth of the receiver. Simulations reveals that BOC(5,2) signal offers good spectral performance and compatibility with existing GNSS signals allowing multiple access transmissions with better spectral separation coefficients.
Mono-, di- and trisaccharide representing the reducing terminal of the core structure of N-glycans were incorporated into Leu-Lys-Asn-Gly-Gly-Pro hexapeptide that is a partial structure of the ...Trp-cage mini-protein by linear assembly. These studies provide evidence that the used combination of Fmoc and Boc strategy and mild conditions result in glycopeptides in high purity and reasonable yield.
The binary offset carrier (BOC) modulation used in global navigation satellite system (GNSS) has better tracking accuracy and anti-interference ability. Nevertheless, the multiple side-peaks in the ...BOC autocorrelation put forward new requirements on the signal tracking ability of the receiver. In this study, we proposes a new technique that eliminates ambiguity in code tracking significantly. Based on sub cross-correlation shift, this method is applicable to BOC(kn,n) group signals. Furthermore, this technique can effectively remove the multimodality of the BOC signal and retain the narrow correlation peak. Taking BOC(1,1) and BOC(10,5) as examples, this method is compared with other algorithms. The experiments result shows that the proposed method has better performance in the main peak width, phase discrimination curve and anti-multipath performance.

Much data has accumulated over the past decade supporting the hypothesis that CCK plays a role in the neurobiology of anxiety and panic attacks. These data originated from animal studies and human ...studies that were initiated independently, but the conclusions are remarkably consistent. In this review, Jacques Bradwejn and colleagues examine the evidence for a role of CCK in anxiety and panic attacks, and highlight the consistencies between animal and human studies.
BOC modulation is a major modulation of the new generation GNSS systems. Compared with the existing BPSK modulation, BOC modulation has a better pseudo-code accuracy and better resistance to ...multipath and interference performance. However, BOC modulation also brings tracking ambiguity problem caused by the vice correlation peak. A series of algorithms have been proposed to eliminate ambiguity, such as Single Side lobe, CCRW ASPeCT, Bump-Jump, DET, and so on. The principle of these algorithms, achievement of difficulty and the performance is not the same. In this paper, a low-level BOC (1,1) signal and a higher order BOC (15,2.5) signal is taken into consideration, performance of those above mainstream algorithms to eliminate ambiguity is simulated and the resource depletion is analyzed. Then, a compatible algorithm is proposed to adapt different BOC signals. The research has a certain reference value for the receiver’s BOC tracking channel design and engineering implementation.

▶ Stereochemically pure furanose and pyranose deoxy sugar esters were synthesized. ▶ Different carboxylic acids were used to synthesize deoxy sugar esters. ▶ Diastereomeric deoxy ...sugar esters were resolved by lipase-catalyzed acetylation.
An extension of the scope of the chemoenzymatic strategy for the synthesis of stereochemically pure pyranose deoxy sugar esters of different carboxylic acids has been achieved. The objective of the work was to extend the strategy to the synthesis of furanose deoxy sugar derivatives and additionally, to N-Boc-protected amino acid esters. With all used carboxylic acids (deoxycholic acid, α-methoxyphenylacetic acid, N-Boc-l-phenylalanine and N-Boc-l-tyrosine) the lipase-catalyzed stereoselective acetylation of furanose or pyranose hemiacetal moiety as a key step afforded one desired stereochemically pure acetylated hemiacetal deoxy sugar ester in high de.
This paper focuses on the RF study of a C-band barrel open cavity (BOC) pulse compressor. The operating principle of BOC is presented and the technical specifications are determined. The main parts ...of BOC such as the cavity, the matching waveguide, the coupling slots and the tuning rings were numerically sinmlated by 3-D codes software HFSS and CST Microwave Studio (MWS). The "whispering gallery" mode TM6,1,1 with an unload Q of 100000 was chosen to oscillate in the cavity. An energy multiplication factor of 1.99 and a peak power gain of 6.34 was achieved theoretically.
