The storage of spermatozoa requires a protective material from cold shock events and the presence of free radicals.In CEP diluent contain BSA, that was used as spermatozoa protection. This study aim ...was to examine the ability of cow blood serum in replacing BSA as spermatozoa protective in CEP diluent. Fresh semen from Limousin bull was diluted with CEP diluent + BSA as control, in the treatment group were CEP without BSA, but replaced with 3%, 5%, and 7% serum from fresh blood. Spermatozoa quality tests included motility and viability. The motility of spermatozoa was observed by two people using a light microscope with 200 X magnification at temperature of 37°C. The method of viability observation was eosin nigrosin staining, and observed under a light microscope with 400 X magnification. The results showed that the replacement of cow blood serum with various concentrations gave different effects on the quality of spermatozoa. The best motility and viability of the treatment group was at serum concentrations of 5% after eight days storage and was not significantly different from the controls. The conclusion in this study was cow blood serum can replace BSA in CEP diluents.

IoT applications require a new type of database systems termed event stores for ingesting fast arriving event streams and efficiently supporting analytical ad-hoc queries over time. One of the most ...important operations in this regard is sequential pattern matching also known as Match\_Recognize, which matches user defined predicates to subsequences of events. While Match\_Recognize is well known in the field of event processing, it has only recently become part of the SQL standard. Despite of that, Match\_Recognize has received little attention in the database area so far. We present a novel approach to speed up an important class of Match\_Recognize queries on event stores by utilizing off-the-shelf secondary indexes on non-temporal attributes (e.g., B$^+$-trees, LSM-trees) and a cost model for selecting the most appropriate indexes. Our approach keeps temporal and sequential information in secondary indexes to prune large parts of the stream from further processing. However, simply using as many secondary indexes as available is not the right choice because the access cost for the index scans can exceed the processing time of the naï ve approach that scans the entire stream and replays it into an event processing system. In order to address this problem, we present a first cost model to estimate the total execution cost of a Match\_Recognize query for a set of available indexes. Based on this cost model, we devise an efficient index selection strategy that avoids a full enumeration of index configurations. Prototypical implementations of our approach are available in our open-source research prototype, a commercial database system, and Apache Flink. In experiments with synthetic and real-world data sets, all our index-based implementations clearly outperform the naï ve replay strategy that is currently offered in commercial database systems and Flink.
Billions of devices are now integral part of the day-to-day routine of people but they are sometime incompatible with one another because they employ divergent protocols. The introduction of ...semantics has been a key enabler towards proper and universal descriptions of connected objects as well as the relationship between them, removing relational ambiguities and improving context-awareness. Virtual objects (VOs) are semantic descriptions of the aggregated native capabilities of physical devices. And as such, they can be readily upgraded over time in order to dynamically suit the processes they are involved with because the context information that is present within them is not necessarily static in time. The original VOs often need to be semantically enriched with more contextual details as they interact with applications and other reasoning engines, where they often evolve into composite virtual objects (cVOs) or rich virtual objects (rVOs) that are more intelligent and interoperable. The complexity of handling large volumes of streaming data increases in the presence of uncertainty caused by incomplete, altered, noisy and/or unstructured information. Context brokering has been a growing trend over the past few years where brokers have been used to discover context and to facilitate processes between service requesting and service providing entities. Several context brokers have been proposed but they do not offer a scalable and optimised brokering algorithm. This necessitates the development of novel ontologies where more functional and non-functional descriptions are used to reduce uncertainties and enrich the content of VOs with the objective of creating a truly automated networking environment.
More and more offices, shops and private people order their supplies just in time directly from producers or from the booming online trade. The CEP market (courier, express, parcel) is growing ...immensely. Consequently, more and more transport vehicles are moving in cities, playing their part in the sharp increase of emissions. The cities must act to reduce the carbon footprint – even the small towns. In Germany, the process of green logistics solutions of the CEP services has now started because Germany has the most booming CEP market in Europe. But the focus of these solutions is not yet on small towns. Nonetheless, especially the health resorts have to reduce their traffic. Narrow streets and seasonal tourism peaks lead to overcrowded inner cities. This article presents trends and solutions of sustainable logistics and innovative concepts for the last mile distribution of CEP services as well as the challenges of small towns.
The compact effective potential (CEP) pseudopotential was adapted to the G3(MP2) theory, herein referred to as G3(MP2)-CEP, and applied to the calculation of enthalpies of formation, ionization ...energies, atomization energies, and electron and proton affinities for 446 species containing elements of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rows of the periodic table. A total mean absolute deviation of 1.67 kcal mol
−1
was achieved with G3(MP2)-CEP, compared with 1.47 kcal mol
−1
for G3(MP2). Electron affinities and enthalpies of formation are the properties exhibiting the lowest deviations with respect to the original G3(MP2) theory. The use of pseudopotentials and composite theories in the framework of the G3 theory is feasible and compatible with the all electron approach.

Application of composite methods in high-level ab initio calculations
Context.Several binaries with masses anomalously small for their observed spectral types have been discussed in the astronomical literature and interpreted as the result of envelope ejection. ...V379 Cep is one of these objects. Aims.We obtained new series of electronic spectra and $U\!B{}V$ photometry of V379 Cep and analysed them in an effort to check whether the conclusion about its anomalous masses may not be premature. Methods.Reduction of new spectra was carried out in the IRAF and SPEFO programs. New photometry was reduced and transformed to the standard system using the HEC22 program. Orbital elements were derived with the FOTEL program and via disentangling with the program KOREL. The final combined solution was obtained with the program PHOEBE. Some initial period searches were carried out using the phase dispersion minimalization technique. Results.We found that the second system of spectral lines seen in the spectra of V379 Cep does not belong to the secondary but to the primary of another binary Ba + Bb (orbital period of 158$\fd$71 ± 0$\fd$17), which constitutes a quadruple system with the narrow-lined 99$\fd$7638 ± 0$\fd$0006 eclipsing binary Aa + Ab (for which we report probable detection of the secondary and derive improved period and orbital elements). The mutual motion of the two binaries A + B around the common centre of gravity is also observable, and the probable orbital period is (7878 ± 77) days. Our result shows that the components Aa and Ba are somewhat evolved but removes the reported discrepancy of anomalously small masses. Conclusions.We find that V379 Cep is an astrophysically interesting quadruple system for which a future combination of interferometry, spectroscopy, and photometry can provide individual masses of all four bodies.
The data generated at a very high rate by sensors and RFIDs are required to be handled by continuous queries keeping real time response. Because of its purpose, DSMSs are used in several cases of ...these large scale systems. On the other hand, sensor terminal systems include lightweight RDBMSs generally in many cases. So if lightweight RDBMSs can handle the high rate data directly, it is convenient for several applications. This paper proposes a speed-up method of stream processing by using the lightweight RDBMS SQLite without any special modifications.
Obtaining accurate photometry of bright stars from the ground remains problematic due to the danger of overexposing the target and/or the lack of suitable nearby comparison stars. The century-old ...method of using objective wire mesh to produce multiple stellar images seems promising for the precise CCD photometry of such stars. Furthermore, our tests on beta Cep and its comparison star, differing by 5 mag, are very encouraging. Using a CCD camera and a 20 cm telescope with the objective covered by a plastic wire mesh, in poor weather conditions, we obtained differential photometry with a precision of 4.5 mmag per two minute exposure. Our technique is flexible and may be tuned to cover a range as big as 6-8 mag. We discuss the possibility of installing a wire mesh directly in the filter wheel.

CCD multi-band light curves of the neglected eclipsing binaries V405 Cep, V948 Her, KR Mon and UZ Sge were obtained and analysed using the Wilson–Devinney code. New geometric and absolute parameters were derived and used to determine their current evolutionary state. V405 Cep, V948 Her and KR Mon are detached systems with their components in almost the same evolutionary stage. UZ Sge is a classical Algol system with a tertiary companion around it. Moreover, since the systems V405 Cep, V948 Her and UZ Sge contain an early type component, their light curves were examined for possible pulsation behaviour.
