Given a stratified variety X If X Our framework applies to many stratified varieties arising in representation theory such as generalised flag varieties, toric varieties, and nilpotent cones. ...Moreover, parity sheaves often correspond to interesting objects in representation theory. For example, on flag varieties we recover in a unified way several well-known complexes of sheaves. For one choice of parity function we obtain the indecomposable tilting perverse sheaves. For another, when using coefficients of characteristic zero, we recover the intersection cohomology sheaves and in arbitrary characteristic the special sheaves of Soergel, which are used by Fiebig in his proof of Lusztig's conjecture.
This volume takes cue from the idea that the thought of no philosopher can be understood without considering it as the result of a lively dialogue with other thinkers. On this ground, it addresses ...the ways in which René Descartes’s philosophy evolved and was progressively understood by intellectuals from different contexts and eras, either by considering direct interlocutors of Descartes such as Isaac Beeckman and Elisabeth of Bohemia, thinkers who developed upon his ideas and on particular topics as Nicolas Malebranche or Thomas Willis, those who adapted his overall methodology in developing new systems of knowledge as Johannes Clauberg and Pierre-Sylvain Régis, and contemporary thinkers from continental and analytic traditions like Emanuele Severino and Peter Strawson.

CORDEMOY: IS HE A CARTESIAN OUTSIDER? DESGABETS’S INTERPRETATION OF CORDEMOY’S ATOMISM Invited editor: Siegrid AGOSTINI Abstract. This paper, dedicated to Gérauld de Cordemoy, pursues a dual purpose: ...first, to reconstruct a specific conflicting situation which involves Claude Clerselier and Robert Desgabets by stressing the role the three man played within Cartesianism (I); second, to emphasize the role played by Desgabets himself in a letter to Clerselier in order to demonstrate that, because of his atomistic position, Cordemoy can be considered an ‗outsider‘ of Cartesianism (II). Actually, Cordemoy was the only Cartesian scholar to approve Atomism as it appears clearly in the above mentioned letter which is published integrally at the end of the present paper (III. Appendix).
