ChatGPT is an AI tool that assisted in writing, learning, solving assessments and could do so in a conversational way. The purpose of the study was to develop a model that examined the predictors of ...adoption and use of ChatGPT among higher education students. The proposed model was based on a previous theory of technology adoption. Seven predictors were selected to build a model that predicted the behavioral intention and use behavior of ChatGPT. The partial-least squares method of structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. The model was found to be reliable and valid, and the results were based on a self-reported data of 534 students from a Polish state university. Nine out of ten proposed hypotheses were confirmed by the results. Habit was found to be the best predictor of behavioral intention, followed by performance expectancy and hedonic motivation. The dominant determinant of use behavior was behavioral intention, followed by personal innovativeness. The research highlighted the need for further examination of how AI tools could be adopted in learning and teaching.
Purpose: This study aims to examine the influence of ChatGPT on third-party logistics (3PL) operators, specifically in the context of enhancing the value of services they presently provide. ...Design/methodology/approach: This research employed a combination of survey analyses and a case study on an international logistics operator. Within this framework, specific services were identified and contrasted between the operator's current performance and a hypothetical scenario involving the implementation of ChatGPT. For the majority of the study, the open-source version of ChatGPT was utilized. However, for forecasting purposes, the proprietary GPT-3.5 version was employed. The intention behind this methodology was to highlight the capabilities of the basic ChatGPT, showcasing its applicability as a widely accessible tool, while recognizing the necessity of GPT-3.5 for more sophisticated numerical data analyses. Findings: The findings revealed that 3PL managers are informed about ChatGPT's capabilities and recognize its potential utility in logistics operations. The case study further underscored ChatGPT's competency in generating actionable insights which can guide managers in enhancing their value-added services. Research limitations: The primary constraint in this study was the limited number of expert participants. This limitation was due to stringent criteria set by the researchers in selecting experts. However, this also represents an avenue for more comprehensive research in the future. Subsequent studies might also explore other chatbot variations and delve deeper into the practical application of ChatGPT in automating interactions between 3PL entities, service beneficiaries, and the end customers of these services. Value of the paper: This manuscript augments the current body of research concerning the application of ChatGPT in the realm of value-added services offered by logistics operators in the context of contract logistics. Moreover, it provides empirical evaluations of several use cases juxtaposed with existing solutions.
The prospects for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) are one of the most discussed topics in medicine today. The very possibility of having an omniscient virtual assistant at hand soon seems ...incredibly tempting, so it seems quite normally to see numerous reports on the application of each newly emerging advanced neural network technology in various fields of medicine and biotechnology. Of course, the emergence of ChatGPT caused the greatest public outcry in recent times, because the new natural language processing algorithm underlying it has allowed human to bring communication between man and machine to a whole new level. Of course, despite the myriad benefits of using AI, the use of ChatGPT and other AI tools in medicine raises many ethical and legal questions. However, it is worth remembering the history of the emergence of any other breakthrough technology to accept the existing controversy as an integral part of progress. The desire of a person to make his work easier and shift part of the work onto a computer always makes him take a step forward in the development of technologies, which, in the end, do not allow a person to work less, but make him work in a new way.

The paper considers AI systems from a use perspective. It focuses on conversational chatbots, starting from Weizenbaum’s ELIZA and sketching the major scientific advances leading up to ChatGPT. The ...main discussion builds upon several experiment-reflection cycles conducted by the author to explore ChatGPT as a knowledge resource. The analysis considers ChatGPT responses in terms of accuracy, structure, context, perspective, and bias. The critical evaluation begins with the observation that ChatGPT produces a mixture of clear and precise results and arbitrary misinformation without ever clarifying its own scope. This leads to the identification of the system’s key problem, namely, how it contends with truth, which involves replacing the idea of truth with a probabilistic surrogate based on textual correlation. In responsible use, a system like ChatGPT must be embedded in a human learning culture. A framework for this process should include an insistence on truthfulness, an impulse towards enhancing human competence, and strengthened responsibility structures within communities.

There is a persistent STEM educational crisis exemplified by low student enrolments, and both high failure and attrition rates. ChatGPT is easy to use, however pedagogical quality is not necessarily ...assured. In one experiment the output had a high cognitive load exacerbated by cognitive gaps making the material hard to teach and learn. ChatGPT is a useful pedagogical technology but not a learning theory. Science, technology and engineering all start by quantitatively modelling systems in order to make accurate and quantitative predictions prior to construction or system modification. By contrast, the current learning theories in use today are based on qualitative soft-science principles, with subjective guidelines that are open to interpretation, which can lead to wide variations in the quality of instructional materials and learning outcomes. Cognitive Load Optimization (CLO) is a new Science of Learning (SoL) theory that quantitatively models relational knowledge as coherent, contiguous, pedagogically scalable schemas optimized for the lowest cognitive load. CLO schemas represent the easiest, fastest and most efficient learning paths and are the fundamental basis of instructional design and teaching. Because CLO schemas are pedagogically scalable it is possible to create CLO schemas that are contiguous across different educational levels (school, college and university) thereby uniquely meeting the goals of the American National Science Foundation SoL (‘optimized learning for all’) and the Australian Grattan Institute (‘optimized learning from pre-school to university’). Using CLO results in significant improvements in STEM learning outcomes but is a detailed methodology that can be time consuming to use. The relative advantages and disadvantages of ChatGPT and CLO are highlighted.
According to The Guardian, “Professors, programmers and journalists could all be out of a job in just a few years” 1. In North America, long before the pandemic, some high schools (both public and ...private) replaced books and notebooks with laptops. In universities, the students preferred listening to the recordings of the lectures taken on their computers or phones instead of actively taking notes during the classes. Technology has been the topic of many debates among teachers, parents, and students. Seen both advantageous and disadvantageous, technology in the classroom has become indispensable to teaching. Technology has proven to have been the only way out of the pandemic crisis regarding business and education. The trend in the education field in a post-pandemic context resulted from a blend between teaching approaches and technology use. However, in a post-pandemic context, this trend has been seen as one of the central factors leading to an increase in the lack of inperson socialization for youths and a principal distraction from their studies. Moreover, the development of more advanced software (A.I. Bot ChatGPT) has started to influence the teaching process regarding assignments. However, the real question is how and to what extent the use of technology can be advantageous for students today.
Foundation models are a novel type of artificial intelligence algorithms, in which models are pretrained at scale on unannotated data and fine-tuned for a myriad of downstream tasks, such as ...generating text. This study assessed the accuracy of ChatGPT, a large language model (LLM), in the ophthalmology question-answering space.
Evaluation of diagnostic test or technology.
ChatGPT is a publicly available LLM.
We tested 2 versions of ChatGPT (January 9 “legacy” and ChatGPT Plus) on 2 popular multiple choice question banks commonly used to prepare for the high-stakes Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) examination. We generated two 260-question simulated exams from the Basic and Clinical Science Course (BCSC) Self-Assessment Program and the OphthoQuestions online question bank. We carried out logistic regression to determine the effect of the examination section, cognitive level, and difficulty index on answer accuracy. We also performed a post hoc analysis using Tukey’s test to decide if there were meaningful differences between the tested subspecialties.
We reported the accuracy of ChatGPT for each examination section in percentage correct by comparing ChatGPT’s outputs with the answer key provided by the question banks. We presented logistic regression results with a likelihood ratio (LR) chi-square. We considered differences between examination sections statistically significant at a P value of < 0.05.
The legacy model achieved 55.8% accuracy on the BCSC set and 42.7% on the OphthoQuestions set. With ChatGPT Plus, accuracy increased to 59.4% ± 0.6% and 49.2% ± 1.0%, respectively. Accuracy improved with easier questions when controlling for the examination section and cognitive level. Logistic regression analysis of the legacy model showed that the examination section (LR, 27.57; P = 0.006) followed by question difficulty (LR, 24.05; P < 0.001) were most predictive of ChatGPT’s answer accuracy. Although the legacy model performed best in general medicine and worst in neuro-ophthalmology (P < 0.001) and ocular pathology (P = 0.029), similar post hoc findings were not seen with ChatGPT Plus, suggesting more consistent results across examination sections.
ChatGPT has encouraging performance on a simulated OKAP examination. Specializing LLMs through domain-specific pretraining may be necessary to improve their performance in ophthalmic subspecialties.
