This article explores the scope of drain-extended FinFET (DeFinFET) as a high-voltage (HV) device contender for Fin-based SoC applications. For the first time, guidelines for efficient and reliable ...HV integration in sub-14 nm FinFET nodes are given. Up to what extent DeFinFET stands as a promising choice is carefully investigated through device-circuit interactions and reliability analysis of range of DeFinFET options. The same is then compared, in terms of radio frequency (RF)-power amplifier (PA) performance, dc-dc conversion efficiency, electrostatic discharge (ESD) robustness, and hot carrier immunity (HCI) reliability, with other HV alternatives in FinFET nodes and its planar counterpart, that is drain-extended MOS (DeMOS).
Democracy is currently influenced by the fluxes of information, digitalization, big data analyses and information, as power in general, but also as the power of control over the people. Existing as a ...double of “the people,” the reality of the virtual demos influences the realities of democracy. Political communication gains a strength online, where both the leaders and the citizens express positions, interpretations and opinions on the state of affairs. The present time is more than ever before the preferred political time. Comfort and relative laziness characterizing the times are consonant with virtual demos and digital democracy, with positive and negative aspects. The civic actions pursuing the good and generous causes animating public interest are among the main positive aspects of virtual demos and digital democracy. The paper aims to identify, describe and assess the main implications of these political virtual actions, attitudes and the participation of the virtual demos in emerging digital democracy.
Single and multi-Fin behavior of drain-extended FinFET (DeFinFET) devices under low and high current injection conditions is studied using detailed 3-D TCAD simulations. For completeness, ...electrostatic discharge (ESD) behavior of both shallow trench isolation (STI)-type and non-STI-type DeFinFET devices is studied. Under low current injection, junction breakdown, parasitic bipolar turn-on, as well as the onset of space charge modulation and its implications on high current behavior are explored. Under high current injection, the role of space charge modulation in electrothermal instability and filament formation is discussed. Unique filament spreading behavior has been discovered in DeFinFETs. Fin-based construction was found responsible for filament spreading. The interplay among bipolar turn-on, bipolar efficiency, filament density, and nature of filament spreading is explained.

The article examines one of the key concepts of the Eurasianists - demotia. Despite its theoretical significance, the concept of demotia, like many other Eurasian concepts, has not been developed in ...detail. Meanwhile, demotia, as a concept proposing new principles of self-government, is of special interest and still has a certain practical potential. In Russia, the introduction of the beginnings of local self-government is associated with the Great Reforms of Alexander II. However, the acquired rights were deemed insufficient. Of the constructive criticism of reforms in the sphere of self-government, the most consistent was the theory of A.I. Herzen (communal socialism). It was in it that the Eurasians saw the basis for the future organization of the Eurasian space, which received its form in the concept of demotia. The article examines the views of a number of Eurasians on demotia. According to their views, demotia is the most important principle of self-government, which implements the method of organic representation of the people at all levels of government (N.N. Alekseev); being a Eurasian demotic system - ί, it is fundamentally different from the Western democratic - ί (Ya.D. Sadovsky). They also pointed to the political homogeneity of the demotic system, which was seen as a huge advantage over the multiparty democratic system of the West (N.S. Trubetskoy). As a result of the study, it is concluded that demotia was a necessary part of the ideocracy-demotia construct, actively promoted in the works of the Eurasians, as a project to create a truly classless and harmonious society. Demotia combines the idea of the Eurasian nationality (the circle of traditional ideas of the Eurasian peoples) and the principle of direct democracy, which reconciles the idea of an ethnos as a people as a whole with its traditional ideas and specific ways of being and the idea of a demos as a political people.

The Athenian discourse on the people (dèmos) is closely associated with the discourse on democracy, both because of their etymological link and because the image of the people which the political ...speech conveys constantly interacts with the judgment on the functioning and value of democracy. Actually, if, in Greek language, dèmos is but a term among others to indicate “people”, it is around this word that focuses a debate which crosses all the political thought: democrats and oligarchs offer a strongly contrasted image of people in Athens. From Herodotus to Thucydides and from Aristophanes to Pseudo-Xenophon it is possible to see the beginnings of a debate on the notion of “people” which, through Plato and Aristotle, still finds echoes in the contemporary period.
Drain-extended MOSFET (DEMOS) with halo implant induced laterally asymmetric channel doping shows anomalous characteristics across bias and temperature that cannot be captured by existing models. The ...transconductance (<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">{g}_{m} </tex-math></inline-formula>) maxima in the linear region is found to be not only a function of the peak mobility but also the halo doping density. In the saturation region, the <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">{g}_{m} </tex-math></inline-formula> characteristics show a nonmonotonic "hump" induced by the halo-region/channel-region junction barrier. Another key care-about for analog design - the drain current (<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">{I}_{D} </tex-math></inline-formula>) mismatch, also exhibits unique characteristics with excess mismatch in the weak-inversion (WI) region, in particular at low temperature. In addition, the anomalous flicker noise (<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">{1}/{f} </tex-math></inline-formula> noise) trends in the presence of high-trap density in the halo region of halo-implanted DEMOS are also discussed. In this work, we propose an analytical model based on the equivalent conductance and impedance field theory to capture these effects. The proposed model is in good agreement with measurements and numerical device simulations using technology computer-aided design (TCAD) of DEMOS across a different oxide thickness, geometry, bias, and temperature.
Theories of economic nationalism have shown that identities can be constructed around various economic discourses. Yet, much of the literature focuses on official discourses while empirical tests on ...the citizen level are short in supply. The debate about the European demos exemplifies this shortcoming as EU institutions construct two competing visions of a European identity around economic issues. The European economy is depicted as a neoliberal competitor or as an economic space characterised by a social model. This paper investigates which of these two official visions EU citizens subscribe to. Based on 18 focus group interviews in France, Germany and Poland, I argue that citizens only share a conception of a European social model while a marriage of neoliberalism and nationalism can be detected for national economies. These findings highlight the importance of studying everyday nationhood, as not all official visions can be expected to resonate with citizens. Studies of discursive identity formation cannot only focus on official discourse, but should be flanked by investigations on the citizen level.
Starting from an overview on the current crisis in the European integration process, caused inter alia by the emergence of forms of "souverainisms", the following paper focuses on the peculiarity of ...the European Union phenomenon and on the effects of the gradual enlargement of the European competences with respect to the classical concept of sovereignty. In this view, some observations will be made around the subtle limit which separates the EU competence from the one of its member States. For this purpose, the Charter of fundamental rights of the EU and the issue of the field of its application towards the member States is adopted as a privileged observation point.

Summary
The fifth‐generation (5G) wireless networks have to deal with the high data rate and stringent latency requirements due to the massive invasion of connected devices and data‐hungry ...applications. Edge caching is a promising technique to overcome these challenges by prefetching the content closer to the end users at the edge node's local storage. In this paper, we analyze the performance of edge caching 5G networks with the aid of satellite communication systems. First, we investigate the satellite‐aided edge caching systems in two promising use cases: (a) in dense urban areas and (b) in sparsely populated regions, eg, rural areas. Second, we study the effectiveness of satellite systems via the proposed satellite‐aided caching algorithm, which can be used in three configurations: (a) mono‐beam satellite, (b) multi‐beam satellite, and (c) hybrid mode. Third, the proposed caching algorithm is evaluated by using both empirical Zipf‐distribution data and the more realistic Movielens dataset. Last but not least, the proposed caching scheme is implemented and tested by our developed demonstrators which allow real‐time analysis of the cache hit ratio and cost analysis.
