Since the translation of his book into several languages, academicians have sought to define or to interpret what he says. ...he rejects the company of his friends and everything that a collective project sets against the course of life and its fatal privatization. According to that text, the Red Brigades' action had been directed by the Italian secret service. In their paradoxical counter-scenario at any rate, most of the parties concerned seemed incompetent rather than the subjects of their own actions. ...their analysis also defends the desire contained in the logic of armed struggle: the still possible success, despite the confusion, of such an abduction.
Guy Debord, a Marxist philosopher who died in 1994, was no fan of private property. But apparently his widow is one. A lawyer representing the widow, Alice Becker-Ho, has threatened Alexander R. ...Galloway, an associate professor of culture and communication at New York University, with legal action. Galloway says the lawyer has sent him a letter demanding that he stop distributing his online war game Krriegspiel, which the lawyer says infringes a copyright held by the Debord estate. The French philosopher had created a similar board game 30 years ago. But copyrights and some forms of intellectual property were anathema to Debord, says Galloway. The Situationist International movement, which Debord founded, in 1957, is a mix of anarchism and Marxism. Its followers scrawled "Abolish copyright" on walls during the May 1968 student uprisings in Paris.

Guy Debord was the self-proclaimed leader of the Situationists, an avant-garde movement that sought to transform culture into a form of revolutionary politics and whose theories strongly influenced ...the student uprisings in Paris in 1968. Debord's treatise The Society of the Spectacle, published in France in 1967, was particularly influential. In it he argued that modern capitalism used spectacle to sell unnecessary commodities to consumers, so alienating them from their true desires.

Disney Culture traces the extensive cultural significance and influence of the Disney brand since its inception and the success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (released in 1937), all the way ...through Disney's acquisition of Marvel (2008) and the Star Wars franchises (2012), ending with a discussion of the 2013 animated film Frozen. Disney has actually infiltrated language within society, with the use of terms such as "Disneyfication" (or "Disneyfying"), "Disnature" ("a cartoon version of the wild that is loved and adored by its audience" 114), "Pixie Dust" (the ability to "magically whisk people away from their daily toils" 37), and other imaginings of the "Disney Way." For scholars and students of American history and culture who may not yet have delved into the oftenstartling effects of Disney on the United States, Disney Culture would be an excellent introductory text-one that provides an essential history of the company along with opportunities for further discussion about the ways Disney has continued to adapt to cultural changes over time.
