Extraoral vertical ramus osteotomy (EVRO) is used in orthognathic surgery for the treatment of mandibular deformities. Originally, EVRO required postoperative intermaxillary fixation (IMF). EVRO has ...been developed using rigid fixation, omitting postoperative IMF. We examined retrospectively the long-term stability and postoperative complications for patients with mandibular deformities who underwent EVRO with internal rigid fixation. Patients who were treated with EVRO for a mandibular deformity in the period 2008–2017 at the Clinic of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Mölndal, Sweden were included (N = 26). Overjet and overbite were calculated digitally and cephalometric analyses were performed preoperatively, and at three days, six months, and 18 months postoperatively. There was a general setback of the mandible, decreased gonial angle and reduced degree of skeletal opening. Excellent dental and vertical skeletal stabilities were seen up to 18 months postoperatively, although relapse was seen sagitally up to six months postoperatively. Since the overjet did not show any significant change over time, the sagittal skeletal changes have been attributed to dental compensation. There was no permanent damage to the facial nerve and 5.8% neurosensory damage to the inferior alveolar nerve was observed.
The current paper tries to answer the question: What are the most important strategies for forming euphemisms on the word and sentence levels in the Kurdish daily newspaper, Evro? In order to reach ...accurate findings and results, the researcher followed the methodological procedures of Content Analysis (hence CA) by Berelson (1952) and Krippendorff (2003). Adopting a modified version of Warren’s Model (1992) for the classification of euphemistic strategies, the data extracted from sample texts were processed and analyzed statistically via Excel sheets and SPSS software. The results obtained throughout this paper show that different euphemistic strategies within various topic clusters (i.e. politics, economy, death, religion, sports, etc.) manifest different percentages. On the word level, loan words show the highest percentage (40.3%) from among all other strategies. In contrast, euphemisms related to reduplication strategy have the lowest percentage (1.8%). With regard to other strategies, they are measured from high to low ranking, starting from understatement (24.4%) followed by remodeling (13.7%), acronyms (7.6%), overstatement (6.9%) and underspecification (5.4%). On the sentence level, the passive voice strategy shows the highest percentage (30.4%) from among all other strategies; however, euphemisms related to litotes strategy have the lowest percentage (6.7%). With regard to the other strategies, they start from metaphors (25.5%) followed by idioms (25.2%), and finally downtoners (12.1%). Finally, the use of euphemistic strategies in question was measured to test statistical differences between these strategies across specified semantic topic clusters, by means of a series of ANOVAs and multiple comparison correlations, that were programmed and output by SPSS software 17.0.
This paper investigates the impacts of the current economic developments, the Euro adoption, and input prices on the consumer food prices. The focus of the analysis is on the consumer food price ...developments during the Slovenian adjustments towards the European Union membership, the Euro adoption by the followed increased in consumer prices, and the current economic and financial conditions. The empirical analysis on the determinants of the consumer food prices is based on the monthly statistical data, which were obtained from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia. We use three statistical methods of the analyses on the time-series data: principal component analysis, regression analysis, and linear trend analysis. We found that the Euro adoption had only short-term impact on the consumer food prices. The rise in the consumer food prices has been determined by the intermediary costs and the agricultural producers` prices. Uporabljene so tri statistične metode analize časovnih serij podatkov: metoda glavnih komponent, regresijska analiza in analiza linearnega trenda. Ugotovili smo, da se agroživilske cene na srednji rok niso povečale z uvedbo evra. Agroživilske cene pa imajo statistično značilno povezanost s stroški in s cenami pridelkov pri pridelovalcih.
At first glance, the modern history of the global economic system seems to support the long-held view that the leading world power's currency--the British pound, the U.S. dollar, and perhaps someday ...the Chinese yuan--invariably dominates international trade and finance. In How Global Currencies Work, three noted economists provide a reassessment of this history and the theories behind the conventional wisdom. Offering a new history of global finance over the past two centuries, and marshaling extensive new data to test established theories of how global currencies work, Barry Eichengreen, Arnaud Mehl, and Livia Chiţu argue for a new view, in which several national monies can share international currency status, and their importance can change rapidly. They demonstrate how changes in technology and in the structure of international trade and finance have reshaped the landscape of international currencies so that several international financial standards can coexist. They show that multiple international and reserve currencies have in fact coexisted in the pastupending the traditional view of the British pound's dominance prior to 1945 and the U.S. dollar's dominance more recently.Looking forward, the book tackles the implications of this new framework for major questions facing the future of the international monetary system, from whether the euro and the Chinese yuan might address their respective challenges and perhaps rival the dollar, to how increased currency competition might affect global financial stability.
The thermal evolution of source rocks in the Paleozoic has long been a problem to petroleum exploration in the Bachu uplift, Tarim basin, since the thermal history in the Paleozoic could not be ...rebuilt objectively due to lack of effective thermal indicators in the Lower Paleozoic successions. The apatite and zircon (U-Th)/He thermochronometry can be used as a new kind of technique to study the thermal history and tectonic uplift of sedimentary basins. Based on the measured apatite and zircon (U-Th)/He ages, apatite fission track data and equivalence vitrinite reflectance (%EVRo), the tectonothermal histories in 5 wells of the Bachu uplift were modeled. The modeling results show that there was relatively high gradient at the Early Paleozoic in the Bachu uplift and it decreased gradually during the entire Paleozoic: 33-35℃/km in the Cambrian- Ordovician, 32-33℃/km in the Silurian-Devonian, 30-32℃/km at the end of Carboniferous and 27.5- 31℃/km at the end of Permian. Therefore, the thermal history can be modeled by combining multiple thermal indicators of AFT, (U-Th)/He ages and EVRo data. Especially, this provides a new method to rebuild the thermal history for the Low Paleozoic carbonate successions in the Tarim Basin.
