Anti-tumor vaccines have been shown to be effective in cancer therapeutics ever since the anti-HPV vaccine was developed. Compared to conventional chemotherapy, anti-tumor vaccines can specifically ...target cancer cells and they have lower side effects. We developed a recombinant vaccinia virus (VACV) (Western Reserve) WR strain, and we tested its anti-tumor effects in an animal model.
A recombinant VACV WR strain expressing mutant survivin T34A (SurT34A) and FilC was constructed and validated. Its oncolytic effect was tested in vitro using a CCK-8 assay, and its tolerance and anti-tumor effects were tested in a murine gastric cancer model. The proportion of lymphocytes in the spleen and tumor was determined after antibody-mediated immuno-depletion.
The recombinant VACV showed a stronger replication ability in tumor cells, and it was safe in vivo, even at high doses. The combination of vv-SurT34A and vv-FilC resulted in a stronger anti-tumor effect compared to either construct alone. However, the inhibitory effect of vv-SurT34A was stronger than the combination. The recombinant VACV activated the host immune response, as indicated by lymphocyte infiltration in the spleen and tumor tissues.
The recombinant VACV WR strain expressing SurT34A and FilC is a safe and effective anti-tumor vaccine.

A filter-based iterative learning control (FILC) scheme is developed in this paper, which consists in a proportional-derivative (PD) feedback controller and a feedforward filter. Moreover, based on ...two-dimensional system theory, the stability of the FILC system is proven. The design criteria for a wavelet transform filter (WTF) - chosen as the feedforward filter - and the PD feedback controller are also given. Finally, using a pneumatic power active lower-limb orthosis (PPALO) as the controlled plant, the wavelet-based iterative learning control (WILC) implementation and the orchestration of a trajectory tracking control simulation are given in detail and the overall tracking performance is validated.
Based on two-dimensional (2-D) system theory, this study proposes a design method for a filter-based iterative learning control (FILC) scheme. The FILC scheme consists of a proportional feedback ...controller and a feedforward filter. The 2-D model for the FILC is established in the form of the so-called “Roessor's model”. Moreover, stability for a 2-D separable model can be simplified, with only one criterion to be met. In order to utilize the criterion derived from the 2-D separable system, the overall FILC control system is constructed in the form of a 2-D separable system by assuming a new state for the 2-D model. Therefore, a sufficient and necessary condition for convergence of the overall control system can be reached. Moreover, to validate the design criteria, we establish design criteria for the feedforward filter and conduct a simulation. Finally, the proposed scheme is applied to the force tracking of a lower-limb orthosis with pneumatic muscle actuator (PMA). Excellent force-tracking performance is achieved through experimental verification.
