The economic transition in Slovenia has undoubtedly led to major changes in Slovene urban landscape. The political transition in the 1990-ies was only the beginning of other fundamental processes ...that followed: the socialistic economic system started collapsing, new markets emerged and cities were exposed to global socioeconomic forces. Slovene cities were and still are at the forefront of the mentioned change. Major spatial, cultural, social and other transformations as results of the economic transition can be seen and felt by citizens, workers and visitors.
Settlement names are the type of geographical names or toponyms that people come across most often. In Slovenia, their unification or standardization is handled by the Commission for Standardization ...of Geographical Names of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, which is based at the Anton Melik Geographical Institute of the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The Commission operates mainly on the basis of UN resolutions on geographical names, Slovenian orthography and Slovenian legislation on geographical names, and publishes standardized geographical names in standardization documents (such as maps and gazetteers) and online on the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia. There are more than 6,000 settlement names in Slovenia, a fifth of which are disputed for various reasons and should be corrected. The book ('Disputed names of settlements in Slovenia') first discusses basic terms in the field of geographical names, especially settlement names, then describes the methodology for determining disputed settlement name in Slovenia and proposes corrected names of disputed names, and finally presents standardized names on maps at a scale of 1: 1,000,000 and 1:250,000 and in the Register of Geographical Names or REZI, which is the largest database of geographical names in Slovenia.
The 7th guidebook contains six excursions of the Ljubljana Geographical Society which took place between September 2012 and November 2014. An additional excursion of the Geomorphological Association ...of Slovenia from March 2012 was added. Every excursion is thematically unique, thus mutually complementing all of them to different collage and displaying the broad geographical horizon. The first excursion guides us to the plateau of Banjšice and to Čepovanski dol, the second introduces us with different landscape, historical and artistic elements of the valley of Selška Sora, the third takes us to the east of the country to Obsotelje and Kozjansko, the fourth deals with the valley of Dravinja River and the learning polygons, the fifth deals in details with Goričko~the least developed Slovenian region, the sixth takes us through the history of arms in the Park of the military history in Pivka, the last exursion gives us detailed introduction with the less known karstic features on flysch and the measurement of the erosion in flyschy Slovene Grey Istria.
Promatra se mogućnost geolingvističkog pristupa dijalektnoj frazeologiji. Kао
One of the best established facts of Croatian politics is the geographical divide between the north-west part of the country which votes for left-wing options and the south-east part of the country which votes for right-wing options. Croatia is not an exception in this regard, as many countries in the region and beyond feature a similar geographical clustering of different political identities. What long-term factors can be used to explain this spatial distribution, the division of the country into a "red Croatia" and a "black Croatia"? this article uses a quantitative analysis of municipal data in order to investigate the impact of three groups of factors: (1) the developmental legacy of socialist Yugoslavia as it existed at the time of the country's dissolution, (2) the deep structural, economic and demographic changes that took place since the end of socialist Yugoslavia until today and (3) the long-run legacies of World War II (1941-1945) and the Homeland War (1991-1995).
The book presents a wealth of historical cartographic representations of Slovenian territory. It is divided into two main parts. The first or the text part briefly presents the history of European ...cartography up to the end of the nineteenth century, maps of the Slovenian territory up to the early twentieth century and maps as cultural heritage. In the second or cartographic part, in turn, features important historical maps of the Slovenian territory presented in chronological order. The format of the book enables an excellent presentation of the presented maps. The maps presented date from the mid-sixteenth century, when the first independent maps of present-day Slovenia were produced, to the beginning of the twentieth century, when cartography developed into a modern discipline. The aim of this book is to present the extensive Slovenian cartographic heritage.
