The proposed paper presents a concept and the deployment of an intelligent street lighting system using various open-source software and hardware components. This allows for smart control of the ...lighting fixture intensity based on traffic measurement data. The main idea is to monitor and control each light fixture from a central location and to implement different algorithms for energy efficiency improvement. The system has proven its stability over a one-month period and has achieved energy savings of 31.6%. It must be noted that this percentage is influenced by traffic patterns, so some fluctuation in energy savings is expected according to the varying load on the streets.
The cutting edge of Industry 4.0 has driven everything to be converted to disruptive innovation and digitalized. Accordingly, a suggestion on the integration is presented in this paper. This proposed paper describes the design and implementation of big data platform for intelligence industrial internet of things sensor monitoring system and conveys a prediction of any upcoming errors beforehand. The architecture design is based on edge computing and artificial intelligence. To extend more precisely, industrial internet of things sensor here is about the condition monitoring sensor data - vibration, temperature, related humidity, and barometric pressure inside facility manufacturing factory.
Over the past few years, the Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming the healthcare sector through the introduction of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) technology whose purpose is the ...improvement of the patient's quality of life. Nevertheless, I0MT networks are still vulnerable to a wide range of threats because of their heterogeneity and resource-constrained characteristics. Thus, novel security mechanisms such as accurate and efficient intrusion detection systems (IDSs), taking into consideration the inherent limitations of the I0MT networks, are required to be developed before I0MT networks reach their full potential in the market. In our previous works, we presented the system architecture of a novel hybrid anomaly-based IDS (AIDS) for I0MT networks and the implementation of its prototype. The next step is the testing and evaluation of the performance of the proposed AIDS under different types of attacks. However, there is a lack of existing IoT testbeds that can be used to test and evaluate the performance of an AIDS as a whole system running on different IoT devices, networks and platforms, and being under different types of IoT attacks. Therefore, in this paper, we present the development of a functional IoT/IoMT security testbed for testing and evaluating AIDSs. In addition, we intend this work to serve as a guidance for other researchers or engineers who aim to develop specific IoT/IoMT testbeds for evaluating their own AIDSs under different types of IoT attacks.

The data of various subsystems is stored efficiently in a database for later optimisation purposes. The database is also implemented with a Raspberry Pi 4B. The concept of collecting data can also be interesting for similar projects.
This paper introduces the design and implementation of a remote temperature data monitoring system based on STM32. The system uses PT100 and STM32F103VET6 main control boards to collect the measured ...ambient temperature. Zigbee will pass the tested data through the RS232 interface, and deliver the data to the gateway based on the MODBUS communication protocol. The gateway will upload the data to the server through the MQTT communication protocol, and the server will receive the data for caching, storage and analysis, and display it through the web page. At the same time, in order to deal with the problem of network failure, the InfluxDB standby database is deployed in the middle of the gateway.
Transmission tower fault monitoring has always been a challenge for power system engineers. Quick fault detection can help protect the equipment by allowing the disconnection of transmission tower before any significant damage of the equipment. The purpose of this study is to propose an IoT monitoring system for transmission towers. The monitoring system adheres to Three-Layer IoT architecture. In the perception layer, sensors MPU6050 and Anemometer are used to measure a specific parameter. The data, which includes the Roll, Pitch, Yaw, and wind velocity, is gathered and delivered to the ESP32 through network layer using WiFi, which then stored the information in the cloud using InfluxDB. For visualization purposes in the application layer, Grafana is utilized which is hosted in the web dashboard and the mobile application. Flutter framework is used to develop the mobile application. An alert will be displayed in the mobile application when the threshold of the wind speed exceeds 10m/s.
Implementation of an efficient meter data management system presents a challenging task since it has to process and store a large number of incoming time-series data entries in almost real-time. A ...number of solutions for efficient processing and storage of big data streams are today available as open source or commercial software. However, the choice of the most applicable solution highly depends on the requirements of a specific use case scenario since the performance of the aforementioned solutions often vary depending on the specific use-case parameters (e.g. incoming data frequency, average size of a single data entry, etc.). Thus, in this paper we examine different platforms adequate for the implementation of a smart metering data acquisition system, to identify the most efficient ones among the considered candidates. The most important requirement of our meter data management system is to offer a stable solution that processes and stores high volumes of continuously incoming data readings with minimal loss-rate. For this purpose we propose a modular solution where components communicate over a message-queuing system, while the ultimate data repository is a NoSQL database. After carrying out all the specifically designed performance tests, we identify the following platforms as the most promising ones to implement our smart metering solution: Kafka as the messaging broker and time-series database InfluxDB. Finally, we verified that our MDMS successfully processes and stores 2.5 M data entries in a time period under eight minutes which confirms its targeted performance efficiency.

Poor airflow in buildings can cause deterioration in the health of the occupants. The health concerns may be minor occurrences such as irritation of the eyes, nose and skin, headaches and fatigue to ...long term effects that include respiratory disease and heart inflammation. Indoor air quality monitoring system has been touted as one of the potential applications for the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper described the design and development of an IoT-based remote monitoring device and testbed that measures indoor air quality (IAQ), specifically eCO 2 level, Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC), temperature and humidity. Air quality sensors (BME680 and CCS811), were used with an ESP32 microcontroller, which acts as the brain and sends data to the InfluxDB cloud database. The data from the IoT device are visualized and monitored through the Freeboard.io dashboard hosted on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) server. A testbed was developed at Planet IoT, The Energy Sphere, UNITEN for IAQ monitoring. A performance study was conducted to test the functionalities of the IoT devices, communications, database effectiveness, and energy requirements in terms of battery life. An insight of the IAQ in the building was obtained with the IoT device able to function both in detecting harmful gases (eCO 2 and TVOC), temperature and humidity level condition 24\times 7 with 76 hours of battery life for a 10 min reading interval or 273 hours of battery life for a 1-hour reading interval.
The ageing population, defined as those 65 years and above, has increased steadily over the years due to better life longevity contributed by better health services and quality of life. In Malaysia, ...at least 15% of the population is projected to be above 65 by 2030, hence increasing the needs for the elderly healthcare to be monitored constantly. Elderly care can be facilitated with technology such as the Internet-of-Things (IoT), where remote monitoring of an elderly's health conditions may be realizable. This paper presents the critical design process and methods used in developing a cloud-based IoT monitoring system dashboard for elderly care. The health parameters monitored are heart rate, body temperature, and SpO 2 . These parameters would provide the general health condition of the elderly person monitored. In addition, an accelerometer sensor is used for fall prediction. Finally, a real-time dashboard was developed for centralized data collection, decision making and alerting. The system is scalable to cater increasing needs of adding more health tracking nodes (per registered elderly user) meanwhile enabling real time elderly healthcare cloud based monitoring and emergency alerting for Elderly Healthcare System that can be monitored by family members and healthcare practitioners.
High Performance Computing systems in modern vehicles generate logs which are crucial in system analysis for critical issue support, issue triage, issue resolution, performance analysis, run ...evaluation and etc. This paper presents concepts of the platform for processing Adaptive Automotive Open System Architecture (AUTOSAR) Diagnostic Log and Trace (DLT) logs. It gives general guidance to build such a platform. The main idea is to combine a custom developed application with widely used and proven systems like: Grafana, InfluxDB, Apache Spark, Apache FreeMarker, Grafana Image Renderer and Bootstrap framework. The concept was the base for the platform that is implemented and proven in the real production environment. As a concept it can be applied in industries other than automotive.
