Over the last decade, we have witnessed a growing dependency on information technologyresultingina wide rangeofnew opportunities. Clearly, ithas become almost impossible to imagine life without a ...personal computer or laptop, or without a cell phone. Social network sites (SNS) are competing with face-- face encounters and may even oust them. Most SNS-adepts have hundreds of "friends", happily sharing pictures and pro?les and endless chitchat. We are on the threshold of the Internet of Things, where every object will have its RFID-tag. This will not only e?ect companies, who will be able to optimize their production and delivery processes, but also end users, who will be able to enjoy many new applications, ranging from smart shopping, and smart fridges to geo-localized services. In the near future, elderly people will be able to stay longer at home due to clever health monitoring systems. The sky seems to be the limit! However, we have also seen the other side of the coin: viruses, Trojan horses, breaches of privacy, identity theft, and other security threats. Our real and virtual worlds are becoming increasingly vulnerable to attack. In order to encouragesecurity researchby both academia and industry and to stimulate the dissemination of results, conferences need to be organized. With the 11th edition of the joint IFIP TC-6 TC-11 Conference on C- munications and Multimedia Security (CMS 2010), the organizers resumed the tradition of previous CMS conferences after a three-year recess.

Beginning with the first event in 2002, the International Conference on Wired/ Wireless Internet Communications (WWIC) has continuously been established as a highly selective conference focusing on ...integration and co-existence of rapidly dev- oping wireless network technologies and their applications related to the Internet. To do so WWIC provides an international forum for presenting and discussing cutti- edge research in this domain, and the 8th edition of WWIC, held at Lulea University in June 2010, continued this tradition. The WWIC 2010 call for papers attracted 45 submissions from more than 25 countries and each contribution was subject to thorough peer review by recognized int- national experts that acted as members of the Technical Program Committee. The selection process resulted in 16 accepted papers, which were thematically grouped into 5 technical sessions. The major themes of WWIC 2010 were cooperation, management of multimedia traffic, advancing IEEE 802.11, cognitive optimization, mesh and multi-hop networks, security, signaling, control, and wireless sensor networks.
What does Google's management of billions of Web pages have in
common with analysis of a genome with billions of nucleotides? Both
apply methods that coordinate many processors to accomplish a
single ...task. From mining genomes to the World Wide Web, from
modeling financial markets to global weather patterns, parallel
computing enables computations that would otherwise be impractical
if not impossible with sequential approaches alone. Its fundamental
role as an enabler of simulations and data analysis continues an
advance in a wide range of application areas. Scientific
Parallel Computing is the first textbook to integrate all the
fundamentals of parallel computing in a single volume while also
providing a basis for a deeper understanding of the subject.
Designed for graduate and advanced undergraduate courses in the
sciences and in engineering, computer science, and mathematics, it
focuses on the three key areas of algorithms, architecture,
languages, and their crucial synthesis in performance. The book's
computational examples, whose math prerequisites are not beyond the
level of advanced calculus, derive from a breadth of topics in
scientific and engineering simulation and data analysis. The
programming exercises presented early in the book are designed to
bring students up to speed quickly, while the book later develops
projects challenging enough to guide students toward research
questions in the field. The new paradigm of cluster computing is
fully addressed. A supporting web site provides access to all the
codes and software mentioned in the book, and offers topical
information on popular parallel computing systems.
Integrates all the fundamentals of parallel computing essential
for today's high-performance requirements
Ideal for graduate and advanced undergraduate students in the
sciences and in engineering, computer science, and mathematics
Extensive programming and theoretical exercises enable students
to write parallel codes quickly
More challenging projects later in the book introduce research
questions
New paradigm of cluster computing fully addressed
Supporting web site provides access to all the codes and
software mentioned in the book

The Second International Conference on Hybrid Learning was organized by the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of Macau in August ...2009. ICHL 2009 was an inventive experience for the Hong Kong and Macau tertiary higher education. The conference aims to provide a good platform for knowledge exchange on hybrid learning by focusing on student centered education. The technique is to supplement traditional classroom learning with eLearning. The slogan is "Education leads eLearning," not vice versa. The me- odology is that at least 30% of learning activities are done by eLearning. The outcome is for students to learn at any time at any place. eLearning can increase students' lea- ing productivity and reduce teachers' administration workload alike. It is a new culture for students, teachers and school administrators to adopt in the twenty-first century. The conference obtained sponsorship from Pei Hua Education Foundation Limited, City University of Hong Kong, ACM Hong Kong Section, and Hong Kong Computer Society. Hybrid learning originated from North America in 2000, and is an ongoing trend. It is not merely a simple combination of direct teaching and eLearning. It encompasses different learning strategies and important elements for teaching and learning. It - phasizes outcome-based teaching and learning, and provides an environment for knowledge learning. Students are given more opportunities to be active learners and practice practical skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, cr- tivity, self-management, self-study, problem solving, analysis and numeracy.
Educirana sestra-menadžer će znati i moći procijeniti potrebe bolesnika za zdravstvenom njegom i sukladno tome organizirati pružanje zdravstvene njege koristeći dostupne ljudske i tehničke resurse. Vizija nacionalnog zdravstvenog sustava još uvijek nije dostižna zbog nedostatne infrastrukture. Sestrinska informatička dokumentacija o kroničnom bubrežnom bolesniku može značajno doprinijeti kvaliteti zbrinjavanja i liječenja.
