Corona Virus (COVID-19) is forcing us to re-examine our current travel patterns in order to adapt to social distancing. For this purpose, simulation of pedestrian mobility remains relevant and can ...facilitate the design of buildings and urban spaces in this newly emerging context. Under COVID-19, a university campus in Algeria has been selected to demonstrate digital simulation for the study of pedestrian mobility. Infraworks software founded on multi-agent simulation is used. Based on the establishment and comparison of various scenarios, we are able to confirm the effects of the anti-pandemic measures on pedestrian behavior in the studied area, such as social distance and the decline in student population, and the implementation of new traffic plans to enhance working conditions on the university campus. The results show that this tool enables the readjustment of space and people's behavior so that the university activities carry on with a minimum health risk.
Urban planning and land cover management represent crucial challenges in the design and sustainable development of cities from the perspective of energy management. This article presents a ...methodology for integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as an advanced tool for building energy management, allowing to combine detailed information about the physical aspects of the building with geospatial and environmental data. While BIM enables the integrated design, construction, and management of buildings and infrastructure, GIS provides spatial analysis based on geographical data. However, integrating these two approaches is complex, particularly regarding data formats, scale, and accuracy. This study, therefore, presents the application of a new integration environment, Autodesk InfraWorks, which combines Autodesk Revit and ArcGIS for a complete visualization of models in a GIS context. Illustrating the implementation of this approach in an energy efficiency project in the Municipality of Reggio Calabria (Italy), this article demonstrates how the convergence of BIM and GIS can improve urban planning and land cover management, promoting sustainable development practices in the city. This integration has the potential to significantly benefit urban power systems by offering a holistic view of building energy management within a broader urban context. It enables urban planners to make informed decisions that consider energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and overall urban development, leading to a more efficient and resilient power system.
In the current development in Vietnam, more and more new urban areas are planned to serve and develop socioeconomic development. However, the establishment of an overall system of planning, ...construction, management, and development for urban development is still facing many difficulties. Especially the use of “2D drawings” in urban design, management, and operation, which will cause limitations in optimal urban planning. The application of Building Information Model (BIM) technology in urban planning, management, and operation is the current integration trend that is in line with the national digital transformation plan in the 4.0 revolution. Hence, the application of BIM also faces certain challenges and difficulties. This study analyzes the basis and legal framework for applying BIM while considering the technical infrastructure projects using BIM, thereby assessing the advantages, disadvantages, challenges, and solutions, and assessing the suitability for the application of BIM in infrastructure projects in Vietnam.
