Daniel Kabala, a freshman at PC, was one of the youngest participants in the competition. It was the first national appearance for Providence College, winners of the Northeast regional title. James ...Kabala, a summa cum laude graduate, majored in history at PC. He'll start work toward his doctorate in September at Brown University. James and Daniel Kabala are the sons of Stanley and Catherine Kabala of Dudley. The story remained with me because of Mr. Faucher's zest in the retelling. It came to mind last Thursday when Violette Hoyt of Southbridge, one of Mr. Faucher's daughters, called to inquire about Barbara (Kleindienst) Gilbert, mentioned in that day's column. They were friends as young people. Mrs. Hoyt introduced herself by mentioning her father and siblings. I related her father's birthdays story, but she beat me to the punch line. Mr. Starosta, a meat cutter and caterer, had a call-in cooking show when the late Alan Okum ran Webster radio station WGFP. "The strangest call I ever received was from a woman who couldn't stand the smell of boiling lobsters, so she cooked them in her dishwasher," Mr. Starosta said.

Book Chapter
This chapter examines why Russians oppose mortgage subsidies for young families and mortgage loans in general. Low demand for mortgages is striking given high unmet demand for housing. More than half ...of urban Russians age twenty-one to thirty-five were living with extended family in 2009. This chapter analyzes the lack of consumer demand for mortgages as a critical factor that undermined the emergence of the mortgage market in Russia. It first considers the cultural dimension of the transplant effect by focusing on the culture that proponents of housing markets, American style, tried to transplant. It then discusses Russians' deep aversion to mortgages, which is evident in the primary metaphor that Russians use to describe them: kabala, or “debt bondage.” It also explores the conceptual distinction between ownership and possession, along with the avoidance of mortgages in the context of crisis.
Some of the newly filled area is on Mr. Bonneau's property and some is on property owned by his neighbor and aunt, Doris Bonneau, according to what Mr. Bonneau told the Conservation Commission ...Monday. After responding to an anonymous complaint and inspecting the property, the commission issued a written enforcement order Oct. 3 stating Mr. Bonneau was doing unpermitted work by filling in a wetland resource area on Mrs. Bonneau's property without an order of conditions. According to the enforcement order issued by the Conservation Commission, Mr. Bonneau was filling in land on Mrs. Bonneau's property. He told the Conservation Commission Monday night Doris Bonneau's property, where she lives with her daughter and granddaughter, is in a life estate to him, meaning Mrs. Bonneau can live in the house for as long as she is alive, then it will be his.
The first reading of the proposal will be made in two weeks, chairman Catherine Kabala said. The committee started to look seriously at a weapons policy after a student pulled a knife on another ...student last month at the Dudley Intermediate School, she said. Richard A. Carmignani said a student brought a handgun into Shepherd Hill Regional High School last fall and a student brought a starter's pistol to the Heritage Elementary School in Charlton earlier this year. Shepherd Hill Principal Albert L. Thibaudeau said he recognized the need for a weapons policy but added administrators should be allowed some room to act on individual cases.
DUDLEY - The proposed operating budget for the Dudley-Charlton Regional School District calls for an 8 percent increase, although School Committee Chairman Catherine Kabala said the actual figure ...would be nowhere near that high. Dudley Finance, Appropriations and Advisory Committee member David Geotis voiced his concerns about the committee's acceptance to keep administrators' salaries at the current level. Geotis said that should cuts need to be made, the town of Dudley would have preferred salary reductions to layoffs.
Mrs. Albert J. Kabala donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Department of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester. There are no calling hours. The family requests that flowers be ...omitted. A memorial service will be held at Bible Fellowship Church, Thompson, at the convenience of the family.
The Dudley-Charlton Regional School Committee adopted a preliminary budget that will be brought to a public hearing on March 20, Committee Chairman Catherine Kabala said. If the preliminary budget ...were adopted and the 10 precent cut in local aid realized, the towns would be asked to make up the nearly $1.5 million shortfall, Kabala said. The assessment to Charlton would be roughly $4 million and the assessment to Dudley would be $3 million.
