Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of the wastewater (WW), the effectiveness of the treatment used by the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with ...sequential batch reactors (SBR) technology, and whether its final treated effluent (FTE) can compromise the water quality of the river at the location where it is discharged. We focused our research on six examples. For analytical chemistry and Allium metaphase (M) test all six samples were collected. Of these, three are so-called biotechnological patterns (WW, WW after mechanical step treatment and FTE), and three are natural riverine environmental patterns. For the micronucleus (MN) test, fish specimens were collected from three sites in the river Kamniška Bistrica. The first two sites locations are up and down the FTE outlet. Results from these areas were compared to the third site (not polluted) reference site, the so-called natural control group. Complementary study with analytical chemistry and biological tests shows that the treatment effect SBR in the Domžale–Kamnik central WWTP carried effectively proved to be efficient for the removal of the cytogenotoxic substances in treated effluent and consequently in aquatic environment.
Monografija je zasnovana enotno in sledi premišljeni predstavitveni logiki. Začenjajo jo vsebine fizičnogeografskih orisov Kamniške Bistrice: geomorfološki razvoj, pedo- in fitogeografske ...značilnosti, analiza topoklimatskih razmer ter hidrogeografske poteze. Avtorji so najprej podali sistematično analizo glavnih dosežkov dosedanjih raziskav, v drugem, obsežnejšem delu pa predstavili lastne raziskave, ki so jih izvajale tri generacije študentov geografije na terenskih vajah, in sicer v obliki tedenskega, zelo intenzivnega empiričnega dela. Skupaj s profesorji in asistenti (in avtorji besedil te monografije) so na najbolj izviren način usvajali metode in tehnike terenskega dela, analizirali zbrane meritve in opazovanja ter prihajali do novih strokovnih spoznanj.
Prispevek obravnava naravnogeografske značilnosti porečja Kamniške Bistrice in njihov pomen za sonaravno upravljanje z vodnimi viri. V porečju Kamniške Bistrice so prisotni različni vodni viri, ki ...skupaj predstavljajo veliko količino vode. Znotraj porečja Kamniške Bistrice so velike razlike med naravnogeografskimi značilnostmi posameznih delov porečja, ki jih prispevek obravnava v odnosu do značilnosti vodnih virov.

This case study of the Kamniška Bistrica forest management unit presents a 3D process-based model for determining forests protecting against rockfall. Modelling was performed using the ArcGIS 9.3.1 ...tool; the kinetic energy of rockfalls was calculated using the Conefall friction model. The finished map of protective forests was compared with the map of protective functions of forests, made by the Slovenia Forest Service. The protective function map covers 90% of forests classified in the 1st category forests by the modelled map. Taking into consideration the entire forest area in the forest management unit, the maps match in 48% of cases. The differences appear predominantly in higher altitudes where the protective function map includes dwarf pine sites, and in lower altitudes where the map does not consider the possibility that trees can perform their protective functions where the terrain becomes level. The aim of this article is to draw attention to the possibilities of using the models as tools for determining forests protecting against rockfalls.

The paper discusses natural-geographical characteristics of the Kamniška Bistrica drainagebasin and their influence of water resources. Different water resources occur in theKamniška Bistrica ...drainage basin, which all together represent a large amount of water.Great differences exist within the Kamniška Bistrica drainage basin between the naturalgeographicalcharacteristics of its sections, which are discussed in the paper in relation to thecharacteristics of water resources.
