This case study of the Kamniška Bistrica forest management unit presents a 3D process-based model for determining forests protecting against rockfall. Modelling was performed using the ArcGIS 9.3.1 ...tool; the kinetic energy of rockfalls was calculated using the Conefall friction model. The finished map of protective forests was compared with the map of protective functions of forests, made by the Slovenia Forest Service. The protective function map covers 90% of forests classified in the 1st category forests by the modelled map. Taking into consideration the entire forest area in the forest management unit, the maps match in 48% of cases. The differences appear predominantly in higher altitudes where the protective function map includes dwarf pine sites, and in lower altitudes where the map does not consider the possibility that trees can perform their protective functions where the terrain becomes level. The aim of this article is to draw attention to the possibilities of using the models as tools for determining forests protecting against rockfalls.

The in depth archaeological research of High Medieval castle presented in this book is unique in Slovenia and among just few in this part of Central Europe. The book is based on analysis of the ...archaeological data gathered in more than a decade of archaeological excavations in 1980s and 1990s.In the introductory chapter written sources and interpretative models are presented. The analysis of pictorial representations follows. The focus of the research is on the archaeological sources, though. Above all the analysis of the small finds, stratigraphy and spatial analysis of the castle itself and the castle in the landscape should be mentioned.
The Anton Melik Geographical Institute SRC SASA provide the regular annual measurements of Triglav and Skuta glaciers for more than six decades. Both glaciers show a permanent retreat. Last ...measurements undoubtedly confirm the importance of the glacier shady position at the foothills of the surrounding walls. Comparison of glacier characteristics with some meteorological data helps us to recognize the influence of climate changes on this, most southeastern lying glaciers in the Alps.
Stratigraphic position and age of the so called Cordevolian limestone and dolomite in the Slovenian part of the Southern Alps (figure 1) is a long lasting problem. Its name originates from the ...(somewhere abandoned) Cordevolian substage (Lower Carnian). Limestone and dolomite both correspond to the Cassian dolomite from the Italian Southern Alps. Platform type of limestone and dolomite, which could be genetic and time equivalent with the Ladinian Schlern (Scilliar) dolomite, is unknown in Slovenia. In the NE part of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, the Korošica formation (Upper Ladinian) overlies platform limestone and dolomite of the Ojstrica Formation (Ladinian). Diplopora annulata is also present in the Ojstrica formation. Various Ladinian rocks in the Julian Alps and Southern Karavanke are mainly of the Lover Ladinian age, whereas the overlying massive limestone and dolomite (“Cordevolian limestone and dolomite”) are partially of the Ladinian and partially of the Carnian age. There are no Upper Ladinian “Wengen” beds in the carbonate massive, so it is impossible to draw a time line between the Ladinian and the Carnian stages. We can therefore conclude, that litological boundaries do not coincide with the chronostratigraphic ones.
Namen članka je strnjeno predstaviti vsebino in prepis štirih pred kratkim najdenih dokumentov, ki govorijo o nastanku in delovanju Akademskega združenja sv. Cecilije v Kamniku (Confoederation ...Accademicae sub invocatione S. Caeciliae V. et M.).
Tectonic contact between Paleozoic and Triassic rocks south of Podolševa, which passes prominent cliffs over the left bank of Savinja river (Klemenča peč, Jamnikova peč, Golerjeva peč, Strevčeva peč ...and Huda peč), is on the basis of the new mapping a steep fault, dipping to the north. In the last phase, the fault was dextral strike – slip active, before was probably reverse, and can represent accompanying structure of Periadriatic lineament. It was under transpresive tectonic regime and complies with model of positive flower structure. We named it Podol{evski prelom (Podol{eva fault).

Dye-tracing tests in the region of the alps Velika planina and Mala planina have shown that the major part of the region drains towards the spring of the Lučnica at Podvolovljek where is also a small ...fish farm. As to the water level, the marginal and central parts also drain into the stream Lučka Bela or the springs at Volovljek.Quite interesting is the high-mountain plateau Veža, a karstified territory surrounded by the valleys Robanov kot and Podvolovljek, as well as the tributary area of the stream Kamniška Bistrica. Here there is every indication of the deep runoff into the springs above Luče, the spring Pečovski izvir, the temporary springswhich are close to the stream Savinja and into the unknown springs in the gorge below the rocky needle Igla. With regard to the water level, the higher parts of the massif can drain towards the valleys Robanov kot, Podvolovljek and Kamniška Bistrica. The tributary area of the Bistrica is quite well known, too. It has been discovered that the area of the saddle Kamniško sedlo drains towards the springs of the Savinja. The territories of the saddle Kokrsko sedlo, the alps Dolge njive and Kalce drain into the spring Studenci below Mokrica.
