In this paper I discuss two gold pendants, from the Late Antique
or Early Mediaeval Period, which are somewhat unique finds for
Slovenian territory. The first pendant is from the Late Antique site
of ...Kranj-Lajh (Carnium); it is leaf-shaped, and the chronologically
older pendant of the two. The child grave in which this pendant
was found is interpreted as belonging to an individual of the local
Late Antique elite. The grave is notable also because some of
the grave goods were made in the middle of the 5th century AD,
even though the burial presumably dates to the first half of the
6th century AD. On the basis of a single-sided comb with low handle,
I assume that the individual did not belong to the Gothic cultural
milieu. The second pendant, a tear-shaped specimen, was
found in one of the oldest settlement layers of Early Mediaeval
Koper (Iustinopolis), at the site of Kapucinski vrt. I argue that it
was worn not as a pendant on a necklace or earring, but rather
as an integral part of an earring. This interpretation is based on
earrings from another time (the second half of the 3rd century AD
and the 4th century AD) and place (south-western Crimea), with
which the pendant from Koper shares many features.
V starem mestnem jedru Kopra so se ohranile številne arheološke ostaline, naselbinskega, gospodarske-ga in pogrebnega značaja. Najzgodnejša poselitev na območju koprskega mestnega jedra sodi v čas ...antike, natančneje v čas 1. stoletja n. š., kateri sledi sosledje arheoloških ostalin srednjega in novega veka.
This study examines the port planning dynamics of the neighbouring ports of Koper (Slovenia) and Trieste (Italy) since the Second World War. Through an analysis of port-related planning documents, it ...offers insights into how geographical proximity, divergent geopolitical circumstances, and a unique border context have shaped the development trajectories of these two ports. We argue that their spatial planning is somewhat idiosyncratic because the presence of a border did not necessarily condition unrelated planning efforts and vice versa. Max Fabiani was the only urban planner to propose a joint development plan for both port cities in the immediate post-war period. The port and local authorities pursued separate planning paths for the two port cities after the Yugoslav-Italian border was established in 1954. As the border became more permeable, a certain relatedness can be seen in the spatial planning of both ports. The port authorities worked toward a unified port system at the turn of the millennium, but the persistence of phantom borders prevented this. In recent decades of European borderless integration, there are fewer obstacles to planning cooperation. Currently, both ports are planning similar development, such as the expansion of container terminals, which is leading to their increased competition.
The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2018 showed that elementary school students' math, literacy, and science skills were poor. These problems occurred due to a lack of ...understanding and memorization of multiplication. They are considered difficult for students to calculate the results of the least common multiple and greatest common divisor. Thus, the development of learning media in mathematics are needed. The developed media was Dakon Koper. The purpose of this study was to develop Dakon Koper media in thematic learning. This research was a development research by implementing the ADDIE model which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were the fourth-grade elementary school students. The developed media's feasibility had been determined through a validation questionnaire filled by media, material, and learning experts. Student response questionnaires were used to record students' interest in learning. The expert validation results stated that Dakon Koper was very suitable to be used as a learning medium. The students' questionnaire responses revealed that Dakon Koper was very interesting and useful to support students' learning. Suggestions for the sustainability of this research are product dissemination for learning media in elementary schools.
The article presents observations from recent architectural historical research on the post-war construction of Slovene coastal towns. The urban planning concepts that formed the "Slovenian Coast" ...and followed the migration processes are explored. The solutions for the Slovenian Coast are compared with contemporary urban plans for Trieste, set in a larger historical framework. Certain interventions in "ethnically pure" locations (new settlements called 'borghi' on the Karst boundary surrounding Trieste; new construction in the Venetian core of Capodistria) are highlighted, and approaches in the design of new urban areas and two symbolic spaces of representations on both sides of the border are compared.
This paper discusses the current language situation among the Italian minority in Slovenian Primorje in Koper. During the fi eld research conducted by the authors’ team, narratives in Italian were ...recorded from informants. Using discursive and structural-typological methods of analysis, the authors reveal that the linguistic reality of modern Koper is perceived as constantly changing, and the Italian spontaneous speech of respondents is intertwined with borrowings from the surrounding South Slavic languages. The modern language situation is the result of historical changes in the Istria region during the twentieth century. In addition to insertions and quotations in Slovenian, items from the Croatian language are found, refl ecting the linguistic situation of the Yugoslav period and the border position of the Slovenian Primorje. Special attention is paid to analysis of the language competence of Italians in the Slovenian language, among representatives of both the older and younger generations of students. In the Slovene language of Italians, a number of features peculiar to Slavic dialects in Italy are found, which allows us to discuss the same linguistic factors. It is possible to reconstruct the language competence of older people only partially on the basis of indirect evidence. There is a discrepancy between the rights guaranteed under the law (the use of the Italian language) and the linguistic reality faced by informants, which may be the result of both a decline in the prestige of Italian and of the small number of the Italian diaspora, part of which is subject to language assimilation, including as a result of mixed marriages. The paper also discusses the role of the media and the linguistic landscape in the region.
