On September 20 super(th) 2011, a rather large specimen of 134 cm total length (mature, female), weighing 6974 g, of the rare crested oarfish Lophotus lacepede (Giorna, 1809), was obtained from a ...fisherman fishing off Halkidiki Peninsula, north Aegean Sea (Greece). This capture represents the northernmost record in the Aegean Sea for one of the scarcest species in Eastern Mediterranean.Original Abstract: Dana 20. rujna 2011. godine, prilicno velika jedinka 134 cm ukupne duzine (zrela zenka), mase 6974 g, rijetke vrste britka jedroglavka Lophotus lacepede (Giorna, 1809), je ulovljena pokraj poluotoka Halkidiki, sjeverno Egejsko more (Grcka). Ovaj ulov predstavlja najsjeverniji nalaz u Egejskom moru jedne od najrjedjih vrsta u istocnom Mediteranu.
The authors report the capture of a specimen of crested oarfish, Lophotus lacepede Ciorna, 1809, from the coast of Syria. The specimen was medium size, measuring 724 mm in total length (TL) and 701 ...mm in standard length (SL), and weighing 959.6 g. It displayed gonadal activity and its stomach was empty. The specimen was described, including morphometric measurements and meristic counts. This finding represents the first record of the species for Syrian waters and a new record for the Levant Basin. It also constitutes the easternmost limit of the species' extension range in the Mediterranean Sea.

On 20 January 2006, a 167 cm total length specimen (mature m) of very rare Lophotus lacepede Giorna, 1809, weighing 10.1 kg, was obtained from a fisherman fishing at the Islet BruUnjak (near Pag ...Island, eastern Adriatic). This capture represents the northernmost record for this species in the Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea.Original Abstract: Nouveau signalement de lophotes, Lophotus lacepede (Lophotidae), en mer Adriatique. According to ...presented data it was concluded that just five confirmed records were noted in the Adriatic Sea. Finally, it should be noted that the crested oarfish is very rare species in the Adriatic Sea.Original Abstract: U ovom radu je obavljena analiza broja ulovljenih jedinki britke jedroglavke Lophotus lacepede Giorna, 1809 (Pisces: Lophotidae) uz pregled tocnih i potvrdnih nalaza ove vrste u Jadranu. Suglasno dobivenim rezultatima moze se zakljuciti da je do sada potvrdjeno samo pet nalaza ove vrste u Jadranu. Na kraju, moze se na osnovi broja potvrdnih nalaza utvrditi da je ova vrsta vrlo rijetka za Jadran.
