Climate change is seldom discussed in mainstream social work. Its first presentations on the world stage occurred in Copenhagen during the Conference of the Parties (COP15). This article argues that ...the profession has an important role to play in: helping people understand the issues; promoting sustainable energy production and consumption; mobilising people to protect their futures through community social work; and proposing solutions to greenhouse gas emissions as indicated in two case studies, one based on a community initiative in the Global South, and the other in the Global North. The article also demonstrates that social workers can foster climate change endeavours that are equitable for all, for example the Equitable Carbon Sharing Scheme. Adapted from the source document.

Idolatría en los Andes contemporáneos trata sobre un hallazgo insólito de un enqaychu (escultura de una alpaca tallada en piedra), en el terreno de cultivo de don Feliciano al momento de barbechar ...(preparar el terreno para la siembra) en la comunidad de Pampallacta, Calca, Cusco y sobre la celebración de un ritual. El ritual celebrado fue con el objetivo de reactivar la fuerza (kallpa) de la figurilla de piedra y convertirse en enqaychu para propiciar la fecundación de los animales (alpaca). La celebración del ritual se llevó durante cuatro días y cuatro noches ofreciendo al Apu (deidad andina) el despacho (ofrenda), coca k’intu, chicha y vino. En el ritual para su activación del poder fecundador del enqaychu, se asoció con un tejido o manta llamado misa que fue confeccionado de dos colores blanco y rojo. Esta dualidad de colores unidas simboliza la misa q’epe (atado ritual). El sufijo enqa fue definida como principio generador y vital que con el ritual se logra encarnar en el enqaychu para avivar su fuerza vital (kallpa). De esa manera, el enqaychu que posee el pastor es para invocar la fertilidad del ganado.
In this article we study a engraving from the workshop of flemish artist, Abraham van Diepenbeeck, who opened the engraver Mattheus Borrekens and published Martinus van den Enden the Elder, between ...the late 1640s and early 1650s. In the Courtland Institute of London is preserved a previus sketch of this engraving, which allows us to approach the analysis of the creative process of the engraving. In this engraving are expressed many of the doctrines that the Council of Trent established on the Eucharist is expressed, and at the same time, it tries to deal the position of Jansenism on the Sacramento and also it opposes to the idea of frequent Communion, idea that was defended among others the Jesuits.
Životné osudy a tvorivé aktivity spisovateľa, dramatika, publicistu a kultúrneho pracovníka Miša Kováča Adamova sú súčasťou modernej celoslovenskej i regionálnej turčianskej kultúry a literatúry.
Ovaj članak bavi se izvedbenim aspektom misa sačuvanih u kantualima fra Petra Kneževića iz 1767. i 1768. godine. Nadovezujući se na raspravu o načinu izvedbe misnih ordinarija iz Kneževićevih ...kantuala u časopisu Sv. Cecilija iz 1923. i 1924. godine, u kojoj su sudjelovali Ivan Ocvirk, Ladislav Gagulić i Josip Manutani, ali i na tekstove autora koji su se kasnije doticali te teme – Miho Demović 1984. te Hana Breko Kustura u dvama navratima: 2008. i 2017. – ovaj će rad na temelju indicija prisutnih u navedenim kantualima, ali i drugim izvorima, ponuditi novo čitanje izvedbenog aspekta Kneževićevih misa, smještajući ih u kontekst tzv. orguljske mise koja je na hrvatskim prostorima kao žanr egzistirala barem još cijelo stoljeće i pol prije nastanka ovih kantuala.
Poljička pučka misa Borisa Papandopula skladana je 1983. godine (prije točno 40 godina) u čast sv. Bogdana Leopolda Mandića, na liturgijski tekst iz ordinarija mise na hrvatskom jeziku. Ono ...»poljičko« i »pučko« u samom nazivu ostvareno je u reminiscencijama na poljičku liturgijsku glazbenu baštinu i implementirano u kompleksni Papandopulov glazbeni izričaj. U radu je sažeto prikazana forma Poljičke pučke mise u odnosu na liturgijski tekst i istaknuta su važnija obilježja njezina glazbenoga jezika s naglaskom na harmoniju i oblikovanje višeglasnoga sloga.
Misa ima šest stavaka: Gospodine, Slava, Vjerujem, Svet, Blagoslovljen i Jaganjče Božji. Svaki stavak izgrađen je od nekoliko velikih formalnih cjelina, uglavnom uvjetovanih teološkom podjelom tekstualnog predloška, koje su oblikovane nadovezivanjem manjih elemenata, kao što su rečenice, fraze, motivi i figure. Njihovim lančanim povezivanjima, kao i ispreplitanjima vokalnih i instrumentalnih rečenica postiže se jedinstvo i neraskidivost većih formalnih cjelina. Ciklično povezivanje stavka ostvareno je pomoću sloga, harmonije, ponavljanja dijelova i variranja osnovnih glazbeni misli.
Skladajući »u duhu« poljičke crkvene glazbe, prepoznatljiv zvuk postiže se čestim promjenama sloga između klasične četveroglasne harmonije, melodijskih odebljanja i različitih oblika pučkoga dvoglasnoga i troglasnoga sloga. Osim tercnih i oktavnih, učestalo se koriste i druge vrste odebljanja vodeće melodijske linije, iz čega proizlaze kvintno-kvartna suzvučja, harmonijski sklopovi tercnih akorda, kao i biakordi.
Osebujno formalno oblikovanje, tonalitetna nestabilnost i neodređenost, politonalitet, modalitet, medijantika, novobarokna motoričnost proizašla iz mozaičnog slaganja manjih oblikotvornih cjelina, njegovanje tekstne akcentuacije, primat horizontalne nad vertikalnom komponentom te razni vidovi melodijskih odebljanja, svjedoče o vještoj sintezi suvremenih nastojanja europske glazbe 20. stoljeća i lakoće narodnoga melosa. Misa je, kao što je i sȃm skladatelj rekao nakon premijerne izvedbe djela 1984. godine, za puk možda prezahtjevna, ali zasigurno spada u jedno od istaknutijih skladateljevih djela.
EST-derived microsatellites or simple sequence repeats (eSSR) occur in expressed sequence tags (EST). Here we report characteristics of eSSRs in the wheat genome, construction of consensus chromosome ...bin maps of SSR-containing ESTs ((SSR)ESTs), and development of eSSR markers for the 21 wheat chromosomes. A Perl script known as MISA was used to identify eSSRs in wheat ESTs available in the database http://wheat.pw.usda.gov/cgi-bin/ace/search/wEST ). Among 492,832 ESTs from the database, 36,520 (7.41%) contained 43,598 eSSRs. This is equivalent to 1 eSSR per 5.46 kb EST sequence. About 60% of the eSSRs were trinucleotides, 19.7% were mononucleotide, 16.7% were dinucleotides, and the remaining approximately 3% consisted of tetra-, penta-, and hexanucleotides. Among the identified eSSRs, (CCG/CGG)n is the most frequent (20.5%) followed by (A/T)n at 13.6%, (AAC/GTT)n at 11.7%, and (AG/CT)n at 8.7%. Among ESTs previously mapped to wheat chromosome bins, a total of 1,010 eSSR loci were derived from 341 (SSR)ESTs. Consensus chromosome bin maps showing the chromosome locations of (SSR)ESTs, SSR sequence motif, and cDNA library were constructed. A chi(2) test indicated that the distribution pattern of eSSR loci was generally similar to that of the original mapped ESTs in the wheat genome. Forty-eight (SSR)ESTs were converted into PCR-based eSSR markers, and 266 eSSR loci were mapped to specific chromosome arms using wheat cytogenetic stocks. The average polymorphism information content (0.45+/-0.16) of eSSR markers was lower than that reported for genomic SSRs (0.54+/-0.19), but higher than RFLPs (0.30+/-0.27). The eSSR markers were transferable among related Triticeae species, Triticum aestivum, T. durum, T. dicoccoides, Hordeum spontaneum, H. vulgare, and Secale cereale. The results confirm the presence of SSRs in expressed genes of wheat and demonstrate another application of ESTs in genomics research. eSSRs will be useful for gene tagging, gene cloning, and comparative genomics studies of cereal crops.
Despite its multivariate nature, independent component analysis (ICA) is generally limited to univariate latents in the sense that each latent component is a scalar process. Independent subspace ...analysis (ISA), or multidimensional ICA (MICA), is a generalization of ICA which identifies latent independent vector components instead. While ISA/MICA considers multidimensional latent components within a single dataset, our work specifically considers the case of multiple datasets. Independent vector analysis (IVA) is a related technique that also considers multiple datasets explicitly but with a fixed and constrained model. Here, we first show that 1) ISA/MICA naturally extends to the case of multiple datasets (which we call MISA), and that 2) IVA is a special case of this extension. Then we develop an algorithm for MISA and demonstrate its performance on both IVA- and MISA-type problems. The benefit of these extensions is that the vector sources (or subspaces) capture higher order statistical dependence across datasets while retaining independence between subspaces. This is a promising model that can explore complex latent relations across multiple datasets and help identify novel biological traits for intricate mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.
As part of the Estuarine Cohesive Sediments (EsCoSed) project, a field experiment was performed in a highly engineered environment, acting as a natural laboratory, to study the physico-chemical ...properties of estuarine sediments and the associated hydro-morphodynamics during different seasons. The present contribution focuses on the results obtained from the summertime monitoring of the most downstream part of the Misa River (Senigallia, Italy). The measured hydrodynamics suggested a strong interaction between river current, wave forcing and tidal motion; flow velocities, affected by wind waves traveling upstream, changed significantly along the water column in both direction and magnitude. Surficial salinities in the estuary were low in the upper reaches of the estuary and exceeded 10 psu before the river mouth. Montmorillonite dominated the clay mineral assemblage, suggesting that large, low density flocs with high settling velocities (>1 mm s(-1)) may dominate the suspended aggregate materials.
El papel destacado de la misa en el nacimiento del teatro español en la tardía Edad Media o principios del Renacimiento ha sido reconocido debidamente por críticos e historiadores de gran prestigio. ...Aun así, tales estudiosos no han prestado la debida atención a la centralidad del Sacramento Eucarístico con relación a ese teatro en ciernes. En el presente ensayo, el objeto de estudio es el proceso de adaptación del rito de la transubstanciación a una trama que eventualmente se transmuta en una representación teatral en plena madurez. Se imponen a nuestra consideración los únicos cuatro ejemplares que se conservan de la llamada misa de amores del siglo quince. Entre estas atrevidas parodias de la misa se incluye la de Francesc Moner, la versión más ingeniosa del género. A la luz de la teoría innovadora de Linda Hutcheon, se vislumbra la existencia de una modalidad paródica que condiciona las trazas distintivas de un rito “desacralizado”, verdadera matriz de la transmutación en cuestión.
