Mayotte of Worcester and Shane Mayotte of Southbridge; two stepsisters, Patricia Mayotte of Wilmington, Vt., and Michelle Mayotte Plante of Worcester; nephews and nieces. He was born in Hartford, Conn., and was raised in Southbridge.
The prosecution alleges Mr. Elias Samia shot Mr. Kevin Harkins to death while the two were in Mr. Samia's car with Mr. Trotto and Mr. John Fredette. The shooting occurred after Mr. Trotto called Mr. ...Harkins out of Suney's Pub on Chandler Street on the night of Feb. 15, 1994, Assistant District Attorney Daniel J. Bennett told the jury in his opening statement in the case Monday. Robert "Rabbit" Beahn, who was a co-defendant with Mr. Fredette in the 1994 drug case, testified Wednesday that he and Mr. Fredette were scheduled to go to trial on Feb. 14, 1994, in Worcester Superior Court. Mr. Beahn said Mr. Fredette, who was accompanied to court by Mr. Samia, asked him if he knew where Mr. Harkins was. Mr. Fredette's son, Richard Denaris, testified Tuesday that Mr. Samia told him in 2008 that he shot Mr. Harkins. According to Mr. Denaris, Mr. Samia related that he and Mr. Fredette were beating Mr. Harkins in Mr. Samia's car when things escalated to the point that he had to shoot Mr. Harkins.

John Mayotte, who was Mr. Harkins' roommate at the time, testified that he saw Mr. Harkins leave the pub in a car with Mr. Trotto, Mr. John Fredette and another man he didn't recognize the night before Mr. James Whalen was asked to dispose of the Impala. "He said, 'I don't know. I'm afraid they're going to come after me,"' Mr. Mayotte said.
