El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar cuál fue el discurso periodístico que se construyó en torno a la maternidad en la primera mitad del siglo xx y qué prácticas se llevaron a cabo para afianzar ...su culto en las ciudades de Guadalajara y de Torreón. Para conocer las representaciones sobre la madre y las festividades que se realizaban en su honor, se examinó el discurso de dos periódicos locales (El Siglo de Torreón y El Informador). El estudio muestra que los imaginarios de la madre se construían en torno a tres aspectos: biológico (su condición innata para la procreación), religioso (su vinculación con la virgen María) e ideológico (su utilización como bandera de algunas causas políticas). Aunque los rotativos no apoyaban las ideas “modernas” respecto a la maternidad, sí se pugnó por mejorar sus condiciones como una manera de conducir al país por los ámbitos de la modernidad.
Abstract Flower crops are an alternative for diversification in small farms, being gladiolus an option of cut flower. The objective of this study was to disseminate the gladiolus crop as an ...alternative for diversification and profit for small farms through an extension project where crop management practices were demonstrated during its development cycle. An extension project was carried out in partnership with a rural extension agency, EMATER/RS-ASCAR, to identify the farmers interested in diversifying their production system for growing gladiolus. The extension project was developed in four counties in the Central region of the Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil. Together with the extensionists of EMATER/RS-ASCAR, farmers were assisted during the entire production cycle and learned the management practices from planting to harvesting. Altogether, approximately 2,400 gladiolus spikes were produced, which were marketed one week before and during Mother's Day week at local fairs. In all the counties, the demand and consumption of the flower stems were high, demonstrating acceptance of the consumers of gladiolus stems on Mother's Day. The gladiolus production has proven to be profitable for small family properties. This system encourages the production in short-chains, contributes to the growth of local flower production and may contribute for decreasing rural exodus and sustainability for future generations.
Both body fossil and ichnofossil evidence for gregarious behavior in sauropod dinosaurs is examined. Some localities suggest that herds were partitioned on the basis of age, whereas other sites ...reveal groups consisting of both adult and juvenile/subadult individuals. Two skeletal accumulations showing evidence of age segregation are examined in detail. The Mother's Day Quarry in the Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation of Montana contains the remains of several immature diplodocoid sauropods. An assemblage in the Upper Cretaceous Javelina Formation of Big Bend National Park in Texas consists entirely of juvenile
Alamosaurus. Both the Mother's Day and Big Bend assemblages are interpreted here as remnants of age-segregated herds. The differences between skeletal accumulations composed entirely of immature animals and mixed-age ichnological assemblages imply that herd composition was variable. When age segregation is recognized, in both fossil and modern taxa, it is thought to minimize the fitness costs related to behavioral synchronization within social groups. Age segregation of herds also contraindicates extended parental care as typical of at least some sauropod taxa.

The Mother's Day Quarry, in the lower part of the Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation of south-central Montana, contains a low-diversity assemblage dominated by immature diplodocoid sauropods. The ...sauropod bones lie within a ∼3-m-thick, massive, sandy siltstone containing scattered pebbles and carbonate nodules. Clay rip-up clasts indicate a high-energy depositional environment, and high-angle bone orientations are commensurate with a combination of the inferred high-energy burial event and postburial trampling of the assemblage. Since the Morrison Formation records deposition in an alluvial plain setting characterized by little topographic relief, heavy rainfall likely triggered the high-density flow event. Taphonomic analysis shows no indication that the Mother's Day assemblage was transported far by the entombing flow, though many elements may have been reworked. There is no statistically significant orientation of elongate elements and little apparent evidence of hydraulic sorting or transport damage. Remnants of soft tissue recovered from the quarry and the semiarticulated state of many of the bones demonstrate that the sauropod carcasses were buried a relatively short time after death. The cause of death of the sauropods is largely speculative; it is thought to have been related to drought based on the juvenile-dominated age profile of the assemblage and the inferred sequence of limb disarticulation. Comparison with other sauropod-dominated assemblages reveals that burial rates have little influence on the preservation of sauropod remains. Low-transport potential of sauropod bones implies that the sauropod component of dinosaurian assemblages should nearly always represent faunal elements derived from environments proximal to the site of deposition.
