Tomislav Žigman is an author who belongs to the mainland, northern and Pannonian sections of the literary corpus, according to many world-philosophical, traditional-cultural and linguistic ...determinants of his work. Bunjevački blues is a collection of lyric songs / letters, which was released in two editions. This article deals with the second, extended edition from 2003. (Subotica). The collection is based on Bunjevci traditionalcultural stock such as linguistic heritage, traditional life, worldview and mentality characteristics, a clash of traditional and modern etc. First of all, these stocks are implied and visible in the motif-themed layer, which is absolutely rooted in the ikavian dialect of Bunjevci. Therefore, the article partly focuses on the stylistic stigmatization of the Bunjevci ikavian and and lexical forms in the rhythmic, melodic and semantic fabric of the poetic text. In addition, the traditional stimuli in the philosophical consciousness of the poem and the motif-thematic fabric of the poem are questioned, which give it quite characteristic features and make it a representative work of the Pannonian literary circle. An attempt is made to detect the inspirational and affective springs that lead the text to regional colourfulness and to establish a process of nuance of traditional and mentality specificities. Particularly noteworthy is the title entry, which is woven into poetic texts as a thought leitmotif and atmosphere omen, thus stimulating the recipient’s horizon of expectation, inaugurating the text as a melancholy cantilena and referring to a commonly known musical jeremiad.
Texts with the elements of mythic language are often those in which symbolic values are found and the transcribed and hidden meanings in everything which seems quite commonly and daily. The motives in artistic and folk fairy tales are often attributed with means of one dimensionality, but in the selective use of these motifs there are hidden values and significance which can be interpreted through detailed research and understanding the meaning context of fairy tales. This paper is based on the idea that the author of the Story of Long Ago in her fairy tales used motifs and meanings spectrum which is applied to the flora of Slavic mythology. The use of specific specimens of flora carries symbolic and meaningful functions within which that can be detected by studying the corpus of mythical motifs and elements that were inherited in Slavic mythology and ethnobotanics.
Povijesno gledano, migracije stanovništva su integralni dio svakog društva. Ekonomski slabo
u zemlji porijekla itd.
Analizom statističkih podataka i raznih studija, koristeći analitičke, povijesne, komparativne
i demografske metode, ovaj rad proučava vremenske periode i socio-demografske karakteristike
This paper discusses the function, purpose, place and formal characteristics of the Greek and Roman mythological motifs in the poems that are part of Carmina Burana, a medieval collection of poetry ...dating from the first half of the 13th century. Different relations established between the aforementioned motifs and lyrical subjects are also examined, as well as how these motifs fit into the context of the individual poem and the entirety of Carmina Burana. The paper focuses exclusively on the motifs which belong to the ancient Greek and Roman traditions, and not on those of the Judeo-Christian provenance, although the latter are numerous in their own right. Also, as Publius Ovidius Naso is often regarded as the main influence on the goliards, traces of his works and militaristic concepts of love visible in the poems of Carmina Burana are also highlighted and examined. The focus of this paper is on those poems which belong to the basic thematic elements usually attributed to the goliards, including tavern, wine, gambling, physical love and satirical and anticlerical overtones.
The historical timeframe of the present monograph ('Five Centuries of Writing Poetry in a Military Uniform and Against it 1515-1918')begins at around 1500, the period in which most of the Slovenian ...ethnic territory was taken over by the Habsburgs and ends with the defeat of Austro-Hungary during the First World War between 1914–1918. This stretch of time is particularly marked by the first printed lines of the Slovenian rebel poem written during the pan-Slovenian peasant uprising of 1515, which is even older than Trubar's Abecedary and Catechism (1550), and the poem depicting the tragic Judenburg mutiny of 1917 for which the leader of the revolt, Anton Hafner, paid with his life.
This study aimed to examine whether the five-factor structure of the MUSIC model (Rentfrow, Goldberg, & Levitin, 2011) including dimensions that reflect preferences for Mellow, Unpretentious, Sophisticated, Intense and Contemporary music replicates in a Croatian sample. Furthermore, the study aimed to examine the replicability of the three-factor structure of the Uses of Music Inventory (UMI, Chamorro-Premuzic & Furnham, 2007) including emotional, cognitive and background uses of music. Relationships between music preferences, uses of music and personality traits were investigated. In the first part of the study, in a sample of 457 participants (74.2 % female, Mage = 20.27 years) we administered the Uses of Music Inventory and the Big Five Inventory (BFI, Benet-Martinez & John, 1998). In the second part of the study, participants judged their liking of 25 excerpts of music (Rentfrow et al., 2011). The results showed the replicability of the five-factor MUSIC model when 21 excerpts of music are included in the analysis. The results showed the replicability of the three-factor structure of the Uses of music inventory, too. Relationships between music preferences, as well as between uses of music and personality traits were mainly confirmed. Personality traits explained music preference variances above age and gender, with openness to experience and extraversion being significant predictors. Uses of music additionally explained preferences for Mellow, Intense and Contemporary music only. Higher levels of emotional use of music and lower levels of cognitive use of music predicted increased preferences for Mellow music. Higher levels of cognitive use of music predicted increased preferences for Intense music. Lower levels of cognitive use of music and higher levels of emotional and background uses of music predicted preferences for Contemporary music.
This study uses secondary data analysis to investigate the motives behind non-traditional students starting university studies. The data were collected during the first part of a longitudinal on-line ...survey conducted at Masaryk University amongst first-year students attending all of the university’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. The Academic Motivation Scale was the tool used in the original research to explore the university students’ reasons for beginning their studies. A sub-sample of the primary study population, adult students 26 years of age or older who had taken a break from their educational trajectories, were identified as non-traditional students. We found that the hierarchy of non-traditional students’ motives for entering higher education diverged from the hierarchy of the rest of the sample.
