In this second edition, the authors present new developments in the sustainability discussion and argue that a new understanding of sustainability is needed if we are to truly serve future ...generations ecologically, economically, and equitably.
Despite the great flurry of activity around sustainability, the concept itself remains highly contested. This book argues that a new conceptualization of sustainability is needed if we are to achieve a healthful and sustainable environment for the long term. The authors examine the uses, misuses, and abuses of sustainability and provide case studies of faux sustainability in practice. Seeking to redefine and clarify the concept and its application, they offer a new definition of sustainability - what they call neo-sustainability - to help guide policies and practices that respect the primacy of the environment, the natural limits of the environment, and the relationship between environmental, social, and economic systems.
Offering a comprehensive view of sustainability, this text is essential reading for all students and scholars in the field. It will also be of interest to environmental professionals and activists.
The underground Macedonian Revolutionary Organization recruited and mobilized over 20,000 supporters to take up arms against the Ottoman Empire between 1893 and 1903. Challenging conventional wisdom ...about the role of ethnic and national identity in Balkan history, Keith Brown focuses on social and cultural mechanisms of loyalty to describe the circuits of trust and terror-webs of secret communications and bonds of solidarity-that linked migrant workers, remote villagers, and their leaders in common cause. Loyalties were covertly created and maintained through acts of oath-taking, record-keeping, arms-trading, and in the use and management of deadly violence.
This book covers the full story of the Ustasha, a fascist movement in Croatia, from its historic roots to its downfall. The authors address key questions: In what international context did Ustasha ...terrorism grow and develop? How did this movement rise to power, and then exterminate hundreds of thousands of innocents? Who was Ante Pavelić, its leader? Was he a shrewd politician, able to exploit for his independent project Mussolini’s imperial ambitions, Hitler’s pan-German aims, and the anti-Bolshevism of the Holy See and the Western bloc? Or was he, consciously or not, a pawn in other hands, in a complex international scenario where Croatia was only arena among many? And after the movement’s collapse, how were several of the most prominent Ustasha leaders able to evade capture by Tito’s victorious army? The facts and documents confront us with the ambivalence of terrorism. The book places the appearance of the Ustasha movement not only in the context of the interwar Kingdom of Yugoslavia but also in the wider perspective of the emergence of European fascism.
This collection provides an in-depth and up-to-date examination of the concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the issues surrounding its value to society. Critically engaging with the UNESCO ...2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage , the book also discusses local-level conceptualizations of living cultural traditions, practices and expressions, and reflects on the efforts that seek to safeguard them. Exploring a global range of case studies, the book considers the diverse perspectives currently involved with intangible cultural heritage and presents a rich picture of the geographic, socioeconomic and political contexts impacting research in this area. With contributions from established and emerging scholars, public servants, professionals, students and community members, this volume is also deeply enhanced by an interdisciplinary approach which draws on the theories and practices of heritage and museum studies, anthropology, folklore studies, ethnomusicology, and the study of cultural policy and related law. The Routledge Companion to Intangible Cultural Heritage undoubtedly broadens the international heritage discourse and is an invaluable learning tool for instructors, students and practitioners in the field.

Onkologija predstavlja važan segment sveukupnoga hrvatskoga zdravstvenog sustava. Sama onkologija
regionalne onkološke centre u sklopu kliničkih bolničkih centara u Zagrebu, Rijeci, Osijeku i Splitu. Nasreću, u
Hrvatskoj postoji tradicija, stara nekoliko desetljeća, razvoja onkoloških centara u općim i županijskim bolnicama.
Poimence, to su neklinički onkološki centri u Županijskoj bolnici Čakovec, Općoj bolnici Dubrovnik, Općoj bolnici
Karlovac, Općoj bolnici Koprivnica, Općoj bolnici Pula, Općoj bolnici Slavonski Brod, Općoj bolnici Šibenik, Općoj
bolnici Varaždin i Općoj bolnici Zadar. Svrha ovoga istraživanja, provedenog u svim nekliničkim onkološkim
centrima
Metoda: Opravljen je bil sistematičen pregled literature skozi naslednje baze podatkov: ProQuest, Scopus, SpringerLink, ScienceDirect, Cobiss, dLib, Google Scholar, Emerald, Hein Online, Sci-Hub in mEga iskalnik NUK.
