Avvalendoci di una fonte seriale conosciuta, ma non sufficientemente esplorata, come i dispacci dei rettori veneti di Padova per gli anni 1602-1630, il periodo di importanti rotture degli argini e ...dell’esondazione dei fiumi, intendiamo proporre l’esame di questo caso studio per trasportare il disastro naturale nel campo della storia sociale ed economica. Il rapido confronto con la documentazione di altre podesterie (Verona, Vicenza e Chioggia) per l’anno funesto del 1608 consente di coglierne la rappresentatività del periodo storico. In quell’anno a Padova la crisi nell’approvvigionamento emerge nelle contraddizioni nei rapporti città e campagne e nel riproporsi delle tensioni sociali. Il quadro è desolante: una principale via di comunicazione come la strada mestrina è trasformata in colabrodo dalle acque, si accumulano ‘diluvi’ di neve in città che diventano ingombranti flagelli per i rappresentanti veneziani e la popolazione del territorio. Nel 1612 le piogge non sono riconducibili alla categoria di maltempo ma, per la fragilità della rete idrografica padovana, contribuiscono nuovamente alle rotture degli argini. Nel 1627 a Este, nella bassa padovana, la gravità della situazione spinge a livello locale a cercare di comprendere le connessioni geografiche di questo ‘mondo liquido’ perché le acque dell’alto vicentino influenzano quelle della bassa padovana.
L’articolo tratta di elegie ed epigrammi scelti composti da Klemens Janicki, i quali contengono descrizioni di Padova, dell’Italia e di persone legate alla città di Antenore e a Venezia: Lazzaro ...Bonamico, Giovanni Battista Da Monte, Francesco Cassano, Pietro Bembo, Ludovico Dolce, Daniele Barbaro. L’Autrice sostiene che Janicki sia riuscito a creare un’immagine dell’Italia ed in particolare di Padova, una seconda patria, dove il poeta potè svilupparsi, studiare ed essere curato. Le poesie legate all’Italia e Padova contribuiscono inoltre ad arricchire la biografia letteraria di Janicki, un cittadino del mondo, un poeta laurato, uno studente allegro, un paziente felice, un amico e un collega delle persone legate alla Repubblica di Venezia nella prima metà del XVI secolo.
Il saggio analizza la presenza delle sepolture femminili nella basilica di Sant’Antonio a Padova, nel corso del XIV secolo, in parte pervenute e in parte documentate nelle fonti. Durante il Trecento ...infatti, le tombe femminili sono in numero nettamente superiore, circa venti, rispetto a quelle dei secoli successivi e appartengono a famiglie di rango elevato. La numerosità di tali sepolture è da mettere in relazione alla signoria dei Carraresi, che resero la città, nel Trecento, un centro, nell’ambito dell’Italia padana, di importanza politica e altissimo profilo culturale.
Marsilius of Padua is conventionally considered to be ahead of his time as the first secular political theorist, the first post-classical thinker to espouse republicanism, and a scholastic precursor ...of the civic humanists of the renaissance. This book attempts to overturn this view, by advancing the first historical interpretation of Marsilius's thought. It examines the neglected evidence for Marsilius's life, and for contemporary responses to his best-known work, Defensor Pacis. Particular attention is given to the second discourse of the Defensor, which tends to receive short shrift in modern scholarly discussions; detailed comparison is also made with Marsilius's lesser-known works. The book argues that Marsilius was not a republican, but an imperialist, and a loyal servant of Ludwig IV, rex Romanorum and claimant to the imperial title. Far from being a precocious work of secular political theory, the Defensor Pacis is an anti-papal polemic underpinned by a profound Christian understanding of history as a providentially ordained process. In this process Marsilius attributes great significance to the conversion of the Emperor Constantine, as the point when the church founded by Christ and the Roman Empire began to coalesce.
L’importanza del triplice viaggio di Jan Kochanowski a Padova è un tema che è stato più volte affrontato nella letteratura scientifica. I risultati di queste ricerche godono soprattutto ...dell’interesse di quegli studiosi che si concentrano sull’analisi dei materiali documentari e sulla ricostruzione dell’atmosfera dominante nella città chiamata spesso la rocca di Antenore. Essa conobbe nel XVI secolo il suo massimo splendore, fatto sul quale influì la politica della Repubblica di Venezia, nell’ambito della quale si cercò tra l’altro di fare di questo centro universitario e allo stesso tempo cittadino una riconoscibile meta di viaggi educativi per i giovani provenienti da tutta Europa. Per questi ultimi il contatto con un ambiente dalle alte aspirazioni intellettuali e artistiche era spesso l’inizio di una brillante carriera, sviluppata dopo il ritorno in patria. Il ricordo delle esperienze vissute durante i soggiorni a Padova ha svolto un ruolo di primo piano anche nella formazione dell’ispirazione poetica di Jan Kochanowski, ciò di cui testimoniano molti suoi testi, come ad esempio Satyr albo dziki mąż, Odprawa Posłów greckich, e il ciclo degli epigrammi. In quest’ultimo un luogo particolare è quello del tiglio attorno al quale Kochanowski organizza lo spazio del mondo reale e poetico. L’Autore dell’articolo ricerca tra l’altro le fonti italiane di questo motivo e si sofferma su altre possibili ispirazioni, che attendono analisi più approfondite in ulteriori ricerche, aldilà delle riflessioni sull’italianismo del maestro di Czarnolas.
Vittorio Benussi (1878–1927) is known for numerous studies on optical illusions, visual and haptic perception, spatial and time perception. In Padova, he had a brilliant student who carefully worked ...on the topic of how people estimate numerosity, Silvia De Marchi (1897–1936). Her writings have never been translated into English before. Here we comment on her work and life, characterized also by the challenges faced by women in academia. The studies on perception of numerosity from her thesis were published as an article in 1929. We provide a translation from Italian, a redrawing of its 23 illustrations and of the graphs. It shows an original experimental approach and an anticipation of what later became known as magnitude estimation.
It is currently unclear if the three manometric patterns of esophageal achalasia represent distinct entities or part of a disease continuum. The study’s aims were: a) to test the hypothesis that the ...three patterns represent different stages in the evolution of achalasia; b) to investigate whether manometric patterns change after Laparoscopic-Heller-Dor (LHD).
We assessed the patients diagnosed with achalasia who underwent LHD as their first treatment from 1992 to 2016. Their symptoms were scored using a detailed questionnaire for dysphagia, food-regurgitation, and chest pain. Barium-swallow, endoscopy, and esophageal-manometry were performed before and 6 months after surgery.
The study population consisted of 511 patients (M:F=283:228). Patients’ demographic and clinical data showed that those with pattern III had a shorter history of symptoms, a higher incidence of chest pain, and a less dilated gullet (p<0.001). All patients with a sigmoid-shaped mega-esophagus had pattern I achalasia. One patient with a diagnosis of pattern III achalasia developed pattern II at a follow-up manometry before surgery.
At a median follow-up of 30 months (IQR 12–56), the outcome of surgery was positive in 479 patients (91.7%).
All patients with pattern I preoperatively had the same pattern after LHD, whereas more than 50% of patients with pattern III before treatment showed pattern I or II after surgery.
This study supports the hypothesis/theory that the different manometric patterns represent different stages in the evolution of the disease—where pattern III is the earliest stage, pattern II an intermediate stage, and pattern I the final stage.
Today, factors such as rapid and unplanned urbanization and high living costs shape the concept of housing. The concepts of co-housing and co-living emerged with the desire to reduce the living costs ...of individuals in the city and to have a social life by becoming a part of a small community, which are offered as potential solutions to high living costs in densely populated areas. The co-housing model aims to provide a minimum standard of living for singles, students or professionals. In this study, adequacy analyzes were carried out in terms of the user requirements of a residential flat in the city of Padova, Italy, where 6 individuals aged between 20-25 years lived between 2021-2022. The study is aimed to identify the deficient aspects of housing in terms of user needs and to guide the professionals who will design this type of housing in the future. As a result of the study, it was determined that co-living is ideal for young singles in terms of their user requirements, especially for short-term accommodation in their abroad experience.
Günümüzde hızlı ve plansız kentleşme, yüksek yaşam maliyetleri gibi faktörler barınma kavramını şekillendirmektedir. Ortak konut (co-housing) ve birlikte barınma (co-living) kavramları yoğun nüfuslu bölgelerde yüksek yaşam maliyetlerine potansiyel birer çözüm önerileri olarak sunulan, bireylerin kent içerisindeki yaşam maliyetlerini azaltmak ve küçük bir topluluğun parçası haline gelerek sosyal bir yaşama kavuşma isteğiyle ortaya çıkmıştır. Birlikte barınma modeli bekârlar, öğrenciler veya profesyoneller için asgari bir yaşam standardı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada İtalya’nın Padova şehrinde birlikte barınma özelliğine sahip, 2021-2022 yılları arasında yaşları 20-25 yaş aralığında 6 bireyin yaşadığı konut tipindeki bir dairenin kullanıcı gereksinimleri bakımından yeterlilik analizleri yapılmıştır. Çalışma ile birlikte barınmanın kullanıcı gereksinimleri açısından eksik olan yönlerinin tespit edilip ileride bu tip konutları tasarlayacak meslek insanlarına yol göstermesi hedeflenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda birlikte barınma (co-living) kavramı, genç bekarların özellikle yurt dışı deneyimlerinde kısa süreli barınmaları için kullanıcı gereksinimleri açısından ideal olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
Il riferimento alle radici culturali della capacità d’attrazione dello Studio di Padova presuppone ripercorrerne la plurisecolare storia. La reputazione internazionale dello Studio si basava anche ...sull’invenzione di una tradizione imperiale nella fondazione, sull’idea di una continuità fra il mito di Atene e Padova, sull’atmosfera di libertà e tolleranza per gli studenti stranieri a Padova nel secondo Cinquecento. L’esplorazione archivistica del fondo Riformatori dello Studio riletta attraverso la letteratura critica elaborata dal Centro per lo studio della storia dell’Università di Padova ha consentito di cogliere, e precisare, la complessità di queste radici. Non si trattava di espedienti retorici ma di forme culturali che accrescevano il prestigio del ceto dei dottori leggenti e la legittimazione culturale dell’Università e che trovavano riscontro nelle politiche culturali della Repubblica di Venezia. L’esempio degli illustri studenti, come il polacco Jan Zamoyski, e la tradizione regale francese e imperiale contribuiscono a spiegare un’innovazione istituzionale, come la creazione di speciali collegi per la concessione per i gradi accademici per autorità della Repubblica, estesa pure agli studenti poveri, ebrei, greci e non cattolici.
