U radu su analizirane povijesne izmjerene razine podzemne vode u piezometrima zagrebačkoga i samoborsko-zaprešićkoga vodonosnika od sedamdesetih godina prošloga stoljeća do danas. U analizu su ...uključene i starije karte razina podzemne vode koje datiraju iz šezdesetih godina prošloga stoljeća, a koje daju dodatan uvid u povijesno stanje razina podzemne vode. Analizom postojećega stanja i povijesnih razina podzemne vode identificirane su promjene razina na pojedinim dijelovima vodonosnika, s posebnim osvrtom na događaje koji su tijekom vremena doveli do usporavanja negativnoga trenda razina podzemne vode na pojedinim dijelovima vodonosnika. Najvažniji takvi događaji u posljednjih pedesetak godina jesu izgradnja praga TE-TO u rijeci Savi kod termoelektrane toplane Zagreb te pojave hidrološki natprosječno povoljnih godina kao što su bile 2013./2014., a na koje je dan poseban osvrt. Analizom je utvrđeno da su razine podzemne vode zagrebačkoga i samoborsko-zaprešićkoga vodonosnika danas općenito niže za oko 3 do 6 m u odnosu na povijesno stanje razina iz šezdesetih godina prošloga stoljeća.
vodeAbstractThe Radovna River Valley is located in the north-western part of Slovenia in the Julian Alps, where there is an extensive intergranular aquifer whose depth to pre-Quaternary bedrock is ...unknown. Therefore, to obtain information about the depth of the valley and the geometry of the aquifer two geophysical methods were used in our study; ground penetrating radar (GPR) and seismic reflection method. The low-frequency GPR method has shown to be useful for determining the depth of the groundwater and the predominant groundwater recharge. Also, the high-resolution seismic method provided an insight about the morphology of the pre-Quaternary basement with the deepest point at 141 meters below surface. Measurements of hydrogeological parameters such as groundwater level and river discharge measurements were carried out in the study area. Both data analyses showed that groundwater level and river discharge are highly fluctuating and rapidly changing, indicating a well-permeable aquifer, implying that such an aquifer is extremely sensitive and vulnerable to extreme climate events. Both the geophysical methods and the hydrogeological information have provided important information about the morphology of the valley and the alluvial aquifer, as well as increasing the knowledge about the Radovna springs system, which will contribute very important information for future hydrogeological studies.
Energetski potencijal površinskih vodotoka na krškom terenu Dinarida, koji se u širokom pojasu proteže uz hrvatsku obalu, većim je dijelom iskorišten. Međutim, značajni dio voda koje se akumuliraju u ...krškom podzemlju ovoga velikog prostora, do danas nije adekvatno energetski vrednovan. Na osnovi rezultata opsežnih geoloških, hidrogeoloških, hidroloških, strukturno tektonskih, geofizičkih, geotehničkih i ostalih istraživanja izrađen je projekt HE Ombla čija je posebnost da se koristi vodom podzemnih akumulacija, stvorenih izgradnjom podzemne brane te čiji su svi objekti također smješteni u podzemlju. Izdizanjem vodozahvata iz zone baznog toka u zonu usporenog tečenja eliminiraju se uzroci povremenog onečišćenja, a u budućnosti i trajnijeg zagađenja pitke vode.
Twelve districts of the state of West Bengal, India are affected by arsenic (As) and millions of individuals are consuming As-contaminated groundwater. The probable adverse effects of As on pregnancy ...outcome (stillbirth and miscarriage) are yet to be properly studied. The present investigation is an attempt to understand the effects of As exposure on the pregnancy outcome in Bengali women exposed to As through drinking water and residing in different villages in North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal. The results show a significantly higher rate of stillbirths and miscarriages than those in the unexposed population.
Arsenu (As) iz podzemnih voda izloženi su milijuni ljudi koji žive u dvanaest administrativnih jedinica Zapadnoga Bengala u Indiji. Njegovo štetno djelovanje na ishod trudnoće (mrtvorođenja i spontane pobačaje) tek treba kvalitetno dokumentirati. Istražen je utjecaj izloženosti arsenu na ishod trudnoće u bengalskih žena koje su mu bile izložene putem pitke vode, a stanovnice su različitih sela u administrativnoj jedinici North 24 Parganas savezne države Zapadni Bengal. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su značajno veću učestalost mrtvorođenja i spontanih pobačaja u žena izloženih arsenu u odnosu na neizloženu skupinu.

We are involved in individual projects related to the regional planning, water supply systems, the construction of transportation infrastructure, the closure of landfills in karst areas, the collection of data on karst caves and their protection, karst ecology and determining the extent of human influence on the karst underground. A new book series Karstology and development challenges on karst was designed to present the results of completed and new projects to a broader public.The first book with the subtitle Water contains selected directly applicable research studies on karst waters, their characteristics, endangerment, and protection. It is composed of ten chapters, which can be grouped into three main themes. In the introduction the importance, characteristics and vulnerability of karst aquifers are presented,then various case studies of pollution and endangerment are described (traffic, landfills, military objects, flooding), and at the end some guidelines for the protection of karst water sources are summarized. The book is a bilingual publication in Slovene and English. It is aimed at a broad circle of users, researchers, students and planners.
