Based on panel data from 30 provinces and cities in China from 2013 to 2019, this paper analyses the impacts of renewable energy technology innovation and industrial structure upgrading on green development using a spatial Durbin model (SDM). The results show that renewable energy technology innovation has a significant positive impact on green development, the rationalization of the industrial structure has a significant positive impact on the green development of the region, and the advancement of the industrial structure has a significant negative impact on the green development of the region. This article further examines the interactions between renewable energy technology innovation and industrial structure upgrading and finds that the combined effect of renewable energy technology innovation and the rationalization of the industrial structure inhibited their respective positive impacts on green development, resulting in a 1 + 1<2 effect. That is, there is a mutually exclusive effect between the two variables. The joint effect of renewable energy technological innovation and the advancement of the industrial structure can promote the positive impact of renewable energy technological innovation on green development while restraining the negative effect of the advancement of the industrial structure. There is a complementary effect between the two variables.
Industrial structure adjustment is one of the effective measures for achieving green development. Aiming at improving green development efficiency through industrial structure adjustment, this study ...proposes a novel integrated approach incorporating industrial structure adjustment measurement, super-efficiency slacks-based measure with undesirable outputs and panel regression models to explore the effect of industrial structure adjustment on green development efficiency. Taking the provincial data of China from 1999 to 2016 as an example, the empirical results show that during the study period, China's provincial industrial structure rationalizations and advancements have three trends, i.e. rising, U-shaped and inverted U-shaped. In the meantime, China's provincial green development efficiency also has three trends, i.e. rising, falling and U-shaped. Industrial structure rationalization and advancement both have a positive effect on green development efficiency. Compared with the industrial structure rationalization, the advancement has a greater effect on green development efficiency. Environmental protection, urbanization, energy conservation and emission reduction policy are conducive to improving green development efficiency. However, human capital and openness have a negative effect on green development efficiency.

Optimizing industrial structure plays an important role in changing urban land use structure and redistributing land resources among various industrial sectors, further impacting urban land-use ...efficiency (ULUE) and ensuring sustainable development of local industries. In this paper, we adopted the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2000 to 2015 as case studies, and included spatially lagged dependent variable, spatially lagged exogenous variables and quadratic terms by combining the STIRPAT model with the spatial Dubin Model (SDM) together to reflect the time-lagged effects, pace-based correlation, and embedded complex nonlinearity relationship between industrial structure optimization (ISO) and ULUE separately. Leveraging such design, we first accessed the value of ULUE and ISO separately by provinces, and found interesting patterns in time and space. Temporally, the value of industrial structure upgrading (ISU) and ULUE increased gradually during 2000–2015, while the value of industrial structure rationalization (ISR) first decreased and then increased over that period. Spatially, ISU showed a strong geographical aggregation than ISR, the distribution of ULUE showed a “T” pattern from eastern to west in 2015. Then, we analyzed the effect of ISO on ULUE from three aspects, urban land structure efficiency, scale efficiency and intensive efficiency separately. Results show that the relationship between ULUE and ISO delineated as “U-shaped curve”. Among these, ISU has the greatest impact on land structural efficiency, followed by intensive efficiency, while ISR showed a U-shape distribution between structure efficiency and scale efficiency, but a reciprocal U-shape with the intensive efficiency. Moreover, the value of ULUE was affected by its pervious value, and the spillover effect of ISU stimulated the growth of local ULUE, but the ISR in the near province hindered the improvement of local ULUE. For the long-term development, it is necessary for the local government to make full use of their competitive advantages to attract more high-tech and low-consumption industries, and encourage a diversified industrial chain to speed up the agglomeration of factors in production. And it is also important to establish the coordination and interaction mechanism between west and east regions to achieve the dual objectives for ISO and ULUE promotion in China.
•During 2000-2015, the value of ISO and ULUE increased and ULUE’s value spread in the form of T from eastern to west.•The effect of ISO on ULUE showed as U-shaped.•ISU’s surrounding values contribute greatly to local ULUE improvement.•ISR showed in U-shape on land structure and scale efficiency, while in reciprocal U-shaped on land intensive efficiency.•The relationship between ULUE and ISU is presented as U-shape curve.
Most institutional studies have conceptualized institutions within the borders of national contexts as relevant to the global orientation of organizations. The world society approach in institutional ...theory, however, highlights the existence of a global institutional realm (i.e., driven by a process of cultural rationalization) and proposes that as a consequence of both global and national institutional demands, organizations are constructed as actors with global identities – the orientation of an organization towards the world or away from it. We argue that the global identity of organizations varies with the national institutional traditions within which organizations originate, the exposure of organizations to various instantiations of cultural rationalization within national contexts, and the extent to which organizations are governed by traditional forms of authority (i.e., family, nation state). We tested our hypotheses empirically, using data from 366 corporations listed in major stock indices in 22 countries around the globe. The empirical results support our argument.
The structure and measurement of occupational fraud rationalization as one of the motivations for fraudulent behavior has been a major obstacle in theoretical research and practical problems. In ...order to answer the fundamental question, "What does cognitive rationalization of occupational fraud involve?," this paper explored the structure and scale development of the internal psychological factors of occupational fraud rationalization. Several research methods were used for this purpose, such as data collection, research interviews, review & verification, project purification, structural verification, and reliability & validity test. The results showed that, based on the internal structure, occupational fraud rationalization presented second-order three-dimensional and first-order eight-dimensional factors. Further, a formal scale containing 27 items related to the structure of the metric was constructed to measure the occupational fraud rationalization. In terms of variable correlations, this paper empirically tested the criterion validity of occupational fraud rationalization from the perspective of personality traits. The result revealed a significant positive (negative) correlation between Machiavellian traits (empathy traits) and occupational fraud rationalization, respectively. In conclusion, this paper provides an attempt to address the cognitive and measurement challenges of occupational fraud rationalization, expanding the application and development of moral disengagement theory in the field of occupational fraud and laying some groundwork for subsequent research and development.
The impact of representative bureaucracy on public organizational performance has received a good deal of attention in public management. However, the literature provides little systematic ...rationalization about the effects of the individual constructs of representative bureaucracy on organizational performance. This meta‐analysis of 648 effect sizes from 80 quantitative studies, closely examines the conditions under which bureaucratic representation affects public organizational performance. The research provides evidence on the relationship between different constructs of representative bureaucracy and organizational performance. This meta‐analysis overall advances the theory of representative bureaucracy from several perspectives. It shows that the effects of representative bureaucracy on public organizational performance are positive in general, but that these effects are moderated by several contextual factors. And our finding that the effects of bureaucratic representation on public organizational performance was shaped by demographics and types of representation, levels of bureaucracy, and performance measurements adds to the micro‐theory behind individual bureaucratic actions.
Objectives
Criminological research increasingly aims to better understand criminal behavior in context. Recent advancements demonstrate how perceptions of legal sanction risk are anchored in reality ...and influence offending decisions. Yet research on extralegal considerations involving morality has not kept pace. Such research has downplayed situational moral dynamics in offending decisions. This study presents and tests a conceptual framework on personal and situational morality that features situational rather than decontextualized moral evaluations of crime opportunities. Enduring personal morality is captured with the concept of moral identity. Findings are presented on the interrelationship between situational inputs, moral evaluations, and moral identity.
Methods
Data are collected with a survey containing randomized experiments to a nationwide sample of respondents (n = 502).
Findings
Situational moral evaluations of specific crime opportunities vary positively with the presence of circumstances conducive to rationalizing the misconduct. There is also some indication that rationalization processes are more pronounced for individuals with stronger moral identities.
Conclusions
Criminological research should more closely target situational moral dynamics to better understand crime decision-making.
