Traditional psychedelics, such as LSD, psilocybin, or DMT, are psychoactive compounds that exert their effects mainly through agonism over serotonergic receptors. In appropriate doses and contexts, ...they produce profound changes in the subjective experience, configuring altered states of consciousness that, upon reaching a critical point, involve the appearance of phenomena of mystical, transcendental, or ego dissolution experiences. These events are associated with diverse therapeutic effects in several mental conditions. Psychedelics are safe substances, with minimal risk of serious or long-lasting adverse effects and without addictive potential. Current evidence comes from systematic reviews and meta-analyses based on phase II clinical studies, with small groups of subjects, strict exclusion criteria, and difficulties in applying the double-blind methodology. Worldwide there is a growing number of clinical trials, which seek to promote the approval of psychedelic-assisted therapies as therapeutic tools in the coming years. In this bibliographic review, we will address the phenomenological characteristics of the psychedelic experience, its potential therapeutic uses, and the
mechanisms that underlie them.

that psychopharmacological progress in the last thirty years have not been up to the expectations of the so-called "decade of the brain". Aware of these limitations, in this paper we carry out a historical and ethnopharmacological review of the classic psychedelics, from the 50's to the present -without ignoring their ancestral uses-, in order to highlight the political and cultural controversies that these molecules have raised in the field of Psychiatry. We hope to promote in the local environment an approach devoid of stigmas and that considers the therapeutic potential of these substances,
with the ultimate goal of providing relief to severe mental illnesses that to this day continue to remain unanswered.

), whereas no molecularly based stratification exists for the broad spectrum of patients with low- and intermediate-risk meningioma.
DNA methylation data and copy-number information were generated for 3,031 meningiomas (2,868 patients), and mutation data for 858 samples. DNA methylation subgroups, copy-number variations (CNVs), mutations, and WHO grading were analyzed. Prediction power for outcome was assessed in a retrospective cohort of 514 patients, validated on a retrospective cohort of 184, and on a prospective cohort of 287 multicenter cases.
Both CNV- and methylation family-based subgrouping independently resulted in increased prediction accuracy of risk of recurrence compared with the WHO classification (c-indexes WHO 2016, CNV, and methylation family 0.699, 0.706, and 0.721, respectively). Merging all risk stratification approaches into an integrated molecular-morphologic score resulted in further substantial increase in accuracy (c-index 0.744). This integrated score consistently provided superior accuracy in all three cohorts, significantly outperforming WHO grading (c-index difference
= .005). Besides the overall stratification advantage, the integrated score separates more precisely for risk of progression at the diagnostically challenging interface of WHO grade 1 and grade 2 tumors (hazard ratio 4.34 2.48-7.57 and 3.34 1.28-8.72 retrospective and prospective validation cohorts, respectively).
Merging these layers of histologic and molecular data into an integrated, three-tiered score significantly improves the precision in meningioma stratification. Implementation into diagnostic routine informs clinical decision making for patients with meningioma on the basis of robust outcome prediction.
Intrauterine adhesions (IUA) is the damage of the basal layer of the endometrium caused by various reasons, resulting in adhesion of the uterine muscle walls to each other, which is manifested as ...clinical symptoms such as spanomenorrhea, amenorrhea, and infertility. Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis (HA) is the main treatment, for patients with moderate or severe adhesion or angular adhesion, the incidence of postoperative adhesion is high. Traditional Chinese medicine "Yangmo decoction" can promote endometrial growth. Three-dimensional transvaginal ultrasonography (3D-TVUS) can judge IUA and evaluate uterine receptivity through three-dimensional imaging. This study aims to investigate the value of 3D-TVUS in judging the efficacy of Yangmo decoction in the treatment of intrauterine adhesions.
The clinical data of patients who underwent HA at two different centers in department of Gynecology of Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and Changsha Jiangwan Hospital from January 2021 to August 2021 were retrospectively collected. A total of 275 eligible patients were included. According to the postoperative management measures, the selected patients were divided into two groups. Yangmo decoction group (n=138): the use of Yangmo decoction and uterine-shaped silicon stent post HA; Hormone group (n=137): the use of estrogen, progesterone and uterine-shaped silicon stent post HA. The preoperative general data, preoperative and postoperative 3D-TVUS parameters of the two groups were analyzed.
The endometrial thickness of Yangmo decoction group was thicker than that of hormone group (P<0.001), the intercornual distance was wider (P=0.016), the endometrial echo was more homogeneous (P=0.018), the percentage of bilaterally visible tubal opening was higher (P<0.001), the endometrial morphology was better (P=0.012), and endometrial blood flow, endometrial motility and uterine motion were better in Yangmo decoction group than that in the hormone group (all P<0.001).
The endometrial thickness, echo, blood flow, and peristalsis, the number of visible tubal opening, uterine motion, and the intercornual distance obtained by 3D-TVUS examination are important factors to evaluate the prognosis of postoperative drug treatment for IUA. 3D-TVUS is of great significance in evaluating the efficacy of Yangmo decoction in the treatment of IUA.
Background
Late laryngopharyngeal cancers after transoral surgery include not only local recurrences but also metachronous multiple cancers.
Methods
We compared clinical information, surgical ...outcomes, and late laryngopharyngeal cancers in patients who underwent transoral nonrobotic surgery for laryngopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma without lymph node metastases between 2015 and 2021 in a multicenter retrospective study.
Results
Four hundred and fifty‐seven patients were included. Positive surgical margins were found in 121 patients (26.5%). Twenty‐two patients (4.8%) received additional treatment. Positive horizontal margins of invasive carcinoma (p = 0.003) and positive horizontal margins of carcinoma in situ only (p = 0.032) were independent risk factors for local recurrence, and prior radiotherapy (p = 0.001) for metachronous multiple cancers. Local control was significantly worse without additional treatment (p = 0.049), but there was no significant difference in survival.
Conclusions
Patients with positive margins had an increased frequency of local recurrence, but salvage therapy was effective.
Abstract
Background
Reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) has become the primary method to diagnose viral diseases, including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 ...(SARS-CoV-2). RT-PCR detects RNA, not infectious virus; thus, its ability to determine duration of infectivity of patients is limited. Infectivity is a critical determinant in informing public health guidelines/interventions. Our goal was to determine the relationship between E gene SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR cycle threshold (Ct) values from respiratory samples, symptom onset to test (STT), and infectivity in cell culture.
Methods
In this retrospective cross-sectional study, we took SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR–confirmed positive samples and determined their ability to infect Vero cell lines.
Results
Ninety RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2–positive samples were incubated on Vero cells. Twenty-six samples (28.9%) demonstrated viral growth. Median tissue culture infectious dose/mL was 1780 (interquartile range, 282–8511). There was no growth in samples with a Ct > 24 or STT > 8 days. Multivariate logistic regression using positive viral culture as a binary predictor variable, STT, and Ct demonstrated an odds ratio (OR) for positive viral culture of 0.64 (95% confidence interval CI, .49–.84; P < .001) for every 1-unit increase in Ct. Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for Ct vs positive culture was OR, 0.91 (95% CI, .85–.97; P < .001), with 97% specificity obtained at a Ct of > 24.
Conclusions
SARS-CoV-2 Vero cell infectivity was only observed for RT-PCR Ct < 24 and STT < 8 days. Infectivity of patients with Ct > 24 and duration of symptoms > 8 days may be low. This information can inform public health policy and guide clinical, infection control, and occupational health decisions. Further studies of larger size are needed.
Respiratory samples from COVID-19 patients with > 8 days of symptoms and a SARS-CoV-2 E gene reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction cycle threshold value > 24 may predict lack of infectivity of those patients in a clinical and community context.
