The development of clean and sustainable energy around the world has become a necessity as a result of the negative effect energy generated from fossil fuel have on the environment. Ghana intends to ...add nuclear power to its generation mix by 2029. This paper uses the SWOT analysis tool to assess the internal strengths and weaknesses as well as the external opportunities and threats in the country relative to its nuclear power program. We found out that despite the country's effort towards meeting the requirements for the licensing, contracting, construction and operation of the facility, there are still some important loopholes which could delay the process. The research found out that Ghana has a lot of strengths and opportunities that makes an investment in nuclear power an economically viable option. However, issues such as porous security system, corruption, porous borders and policy discontinuity due to changes in political power are threats to the smooth implementation and operation of a nuclear power plant. The research therefore recommended to the government of Ghana to pay critical attention to some of these loopholes. We also looked at a particular weakness which is financing and provided some funding options for its development.
در این پژوهش به‌منظور بررسی ظرفیت‌ها و تنگناهای روستاهای پیرامون دریاچه ارومیه از الگوهای SWOT و QSPM استفاده و در مجموع 40 عامل درونی (نقاط قوت و ضعف) و 30 عامل بیرونی (فرصت‌ها و تهدیدها) مطالعه شد. ...نتایج نشان داد که نهال و بذور گواهیشده، نظام نوین ترویج و توانمندسازی زنان و صنایع تبدیلی چهار نقطه برتر اقدامات انجام یافته و در دست اجرا در روستاهای پیرامون دریاچه ارومیه بوده و از میان محصولات معرفی شده بهعنوان کشتهای جایگزین، کشت زعفران و گیاهان دارویی از جایگاه برتری برخوردار هستند. بر اساس یافتههای پژوهش، سنتی بودن فرآیند تولید، اتلاف منابع آب، برداشت آب از سفرههای زیرزمینی و وجود باغهای درجه 2 و 3 مهمترین نقاط ضعف موجود هستند. رتبهبندی فرصت‌ها بیانگر آن بود که وجود تقاضا برای محصولات کشاورزی، تنوع تولیدات باغی، دانشآموختگان کشاورزی و اراضی مستعد، برترین فرصتهای موجود در روستاهای حاشیه دریاچه ارومیه میباشند. طبق یافتههای مطالعه عواملی چون فرسایش خاک، کمبود آب، کاهش حاصلخیزی خاک و پائین رفتن سطح آبهای زیرزمینی از جمله عواملی هستند که معیشت را در روستاهای پیرامون دریاچه ارومیه مورد تهدید جدی قرار دادهاند. با توجه یافتههای پژوهش و برتری عوامل داخلی در مقایسه با عوامل بیرونی و همچنین برتری نقاط قوت به نقاط ضعف و فرصت‌ها در مقایسه با تهدیدها استراتژی کلی بخش کشاورزی در روستاهای پیرامون دریاچه ارومیه برای بهبود معیشت، رویکردی تهاجمی میباشد.

Semen analysis is the cornerstone of male fertility evaluation with WHO guidelines providing the basis for procedural standardization and reference values worldwide. The first WHO manual was ...published in 1980, and five editions have been subsequently released over the last four decades. The 6th Edition was published in July 2021. In this review, we identify the key changes of this 6th Edition. Additionally, we evaluate the utility of this 6th Edition in clinical practice using SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. This new Edition has made the analysis of basic semen parameters more robust, taking into account the criticisms and grey areas of the previous editions. The tests assessing sperm DNA fragmentation and seminal oxidative stress are well-described. The main novelty is that this latest edition abandons the notion of reference thresholds, suggesting instead to replace them with "decision limits". While this seems attractive, no decision limits are proposed for either basic semen parameters, or for extended or advanced parameters. This critical review of the 6th Edition of the WHO laboratory manual combined with a SWOT analysis summarizes the changes and novelties present in this new Edition and provides an in-depth analysis that could help its global use in the coming years.
This work aims to define guidelines for the management of water resources in Portugal and Brazil. For this, the methodology includes: systematic literature review, documentary research on water law ...and application of a SWOT matrix. It was found that these models present positive points related to the feasible time for planning, articulation with water agencies and interaction with external actors. Negative aspects mention external dependence on structure, performance dependent on public power, lack of resources and scarcity of data. Opportunities are efficient management, knowledge of the reality of water systems, external resource capture and new environmental technologies. External threats include concentration of information, conflicts of interest and the need for investments. Therefore, it is recommended to reverse this scenario with strategic planning of water resources.
Ce travail vise à définir des lignes directrices pour la gestion des ressources en eau au Portugal et au Brésil. Pour cela, la méthodologie comprend: revue systématique de la littérature, recherche documentaire sur le droit de l’eau et application d’une matrice SWOT. On a constaté que ces modèles présentent des points positifs quant au temps viable de planification, d’articulation avec les agences de l’eau et d’interaction avec des acteurs externes. Dans les aspects négatifs, la dépendance extérieure à l’égard de la structure, l’action dépendante du pouvoir public, le manque de ressources et la rareté des données sont cités. Les possibilités sont une gestion efficace, une connaissance de la réalité des systèmes d’approvisionnement en eau, la capture des ressources externes et de nouvelles technologies environnementales. Questo lavoro mira a definire linee guida per la gestione delle risorse idriche in Portogallo e Brasile. Per questo, la metodologia comprende: revisione sistematica della letteratura, ricerca documentaria sul diritto delle acque e applicazione di una matrice SWOT. Si è riscontrato che questi modelli presentano punti positivi per quanto riguarda il tempo utile per la pianificazione, l'articolazione con le agenzie idriche e l'interazione con attori esterni. Negli aspetti negativi vengono citate la dipendenza esterna dalla struttura, l'azione dipendente dal potere pubblico, la mancanza di risorse e la scarsità di dati. Le opportunità sono una gestione efficiente, la conoscenza della realtà dei sistemi idrici, la cattura di risorse esterne e nuove tecnologie ambientali. Le minacce esterne si riferiscono alla concentrazione delle informazioni, ai conflitti di interesse e alla necessità di investimenti. Pertanto, si consiglia di invertire questo scenario con la pianificazione strategica delle risorse idriche.
Este trabalho objetiva definir diretrizes para gestão dos recursos hídricos de Portugal e do Brasil. Para isso, a metodologia inclui: revisão sistemática de literatura, investigação documental sobre lei das águas e aplicação de uma matriz SWOT. Apurou-se que estes modelos apresentam pontos positivos referentes ao tempo viável para planejamento, articulação junto as agências de águas e interação com atores externos. Nos aspectos negativos citam-se a dependência externa de estrutura, atuação dependente do poder público, falta de recursos e escassez de dados. As oportunidades são gestão eficiente, conhecimento da realidade dos sistemas hídricos, captação de recursos externos e novas tecnologias ambientais. Às ameaças externas referem-se concentração de informações, conflitos de interesses e necessidade de investimentos. Portanto, recomenda-se reverter este cenário com planejamento estratégico dos recursos hídricos.

Los aspectos negativos mencionan dependencia externa de la estructura, rendimiento depende del poder público, falta de recursos y escasez de datos. Las oportunidades son la gestión eficiente, el conocimiento de la realidad de los sistemas hídricos, la captura de recursos externos y las nuevas tecnologías medioambientales. Las amenazas externas incluyen la concentración de información, los conflictos de intereses y la necesidad de inversiones. Por lo tanto, se recomienda revertir este escenario con la planificación estratégica de los recursos hídricos
The food sector is increasingly turning toward sustainability issues. A sustainable food system should provide sufficient, nutritious food for all within limited natural resources. Plant-based food ...and proteins are a recent, growing trend setting out to contribute to this challenge. However, food industry stakeholders need to be aware of the challenges and opportunities. This paper reviews the trend from a business perspective. It outlines the global drivers, market trends, market data observations, and consumer behavior factors of relevance, and pinpoints the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) for food sector companies. Findings suggest that the policy and market context is favorable in the near future, but that consumer beliefs, perception and understanding has to change further for the business opportunity to grow on a larger scale. More innovations are needed, in particular in the direction of meat-replacements that are healthy as well as clean label.
Surface water storage and fluxes in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and wetlands are currently poorly observed at the global scale, even though they represent major components of the water cycle and deeply ...impact human societies. In situ networks are heterogeneously distributed in space, and many river basins and most lakes—especially in the developing world and in sparsely populated regions—remain unmonitored. Satellite remote sensing has provided useful complementary observations, but no past or current satellite mission has yet been specifically designed to observe, at the global scale, surface water storage change and fluxes. This is the purpose of the planned Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite mission. SWOT is a collaboration between the (US) National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Centre National d’Études Spatiales (the French Spatial Agency), the Canadian Space Agency and the United Kingdom Space Agency, with launch planned in late 2020. SWOT is both a continental hydrology and oceanography mission. However, only the hydrology capabilities of SWOT are discussed here. After a description of the SWOT mission requirements and measurement capabilities, we review the SWOT-related studies concerning land hydrology published to date. Beginning in 2007, studies demonstrated the benefits of SWOT data for river hydrology, both through discharge estimation directly from SWOT measurements and through assimilation of SWOT data into hydrodynamic and hydrology models. A smaller number of studies have also addressed methods for computation of lake and reservoir storage change or have quantified improvements expected from SWOT compared with current knowledge of lake water storage variability. We also briefly review other land hydrology capabilities of SWOT, including those related to transboundary river basins, human water withdrawals and wetland environments. Finally, we discuss additional studies needed before and after the launch of the mission, along with perspectives on a potential successor to SWOT.
In 2021 until now, the government issued the Merdeka Learning Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum which requires universities to implement, but it takes the right strategy, the purpose of this research ...is to find the strategic position of the Faculty of Economics at a private university in Riau to implement the MBKM curriculum, identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and Develop alternative strategic options for the implementation of the MBKM Curriculum. The research method uses qualitative. The object of this research is the Faculty of Economics which has 2 study programs, namely Accounting and Management. Data sources are primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques using observation techniques, interviews and questionnaires. The number of samples in this study were 8 people using a sampling technique, namely saturated/census samples where the respondents were those who occupied strategic positions in decision making, expert judgment and stakeholders from faculties and universities. Data analysis used EFAS Matrix, IFAS Matrix, IE Matrix, SWOT-8K Matrix and TWOS Matrix. The results of the study indicate that the external and internal environmental conditions of the economics faculty show conditions that fall into the moderate/good category, which means the Faculty of Economics is able to implement this MBKM program. Meanwhile, the results of the IE Matrix value show that the position / quadrant of the Faculty of Economics is in the V Bold and maintain position (maintain and maintain) Market penetration and product development, while the analysis using the SWOT-8K matrix shows the quadrant position is in Diversification IV.
Kepala sekolah menjalankan peran penting dalam mewujudkan sekolah berkualitas, seorang kepala sekolah diharuskan memiliki kemampuan analisis strategi dan rekaya manajemen. Riset ini bertujuan untuk ...mengkaji kemampuan kepala sekolah luar biasa dalam menetapkan strategi pengembangan sekolah serta desain manajemen yang mendukung terimplementasikannya strategi secara tepat. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif. Populasi dan sampel dalam penelitian ini yakni Kepala SLB se-Provinsi Jawa Timur dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 108 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan secara akumulatif para kepala sekolah tersebut 55,2% berada pada kategori sangat baik, 11,1% baik, 32,8% kurang baik dan 0,9% tidak baik sehingga dapat dinyatakan bahwa kemampuan kepala sekolah rata-rata kurang memenuhi syarat sebagai pemimpin yang mampu menetapkan strategi dengan analisis SWOT. Dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas sekolah luar biasa. Terdapat 2 indikator yang lemah yaitu pada Implementasi Teknologi Informasi, Evaluasi dan Tindaklanjut. Sehingga peneliti merekomendasikan perlunya peningkatan kemampuan kepala sekolah pada kedua aspek tersebut.
Energy cooperation plays an important role in One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative, which has attracted global attentions since it was firstly announced by China. However, studies focused on ...China-Myanmar energy cooperation under OBOR has not been explored yet, Myanmar usually acts as a geo-strategic link along OBOR while its power grid construction benefits from OBOR to a large extent. This paper aims to close this gap and provide a comprehensive analysis on China-Myanmar energy cooperation under OBOR. Current status of the two countries’ respective energy systems is investigated to show their motivations for cooperation. Then, SWOT analysis and PEST analysis are integrated to uncover the roots of the past or ongoing successful and unsuccessful energy projects, and to provide invaluable insights about opportunities and challenges caused by the most up-to-date global issues, including COVID-19 and U.S.-China trade war. Lastly, practical suggestions are given with respect to political, economical, social and technological domains, such that stakeholders, engineers, researchers and investors can adapt to the post-crisis era.
