By analyzing literary works, correspondence and other materials of the members of the secret political organization in Kyiv "Cyril and Methodius Brotherhood", it became evident that the members were ...acquainted with the literary and scholarly works of Ján Kollár, Pavol Jozef Šafárik, Václav Hanka and Ľudovít Štúr. Thanks to the use of biographical and, to a lesser extent, bibliographical methods, it was possible to make several clarifications about the familiarity of the members of the Brotherhood with this or that publication, in particular, about one book that V. Hanka sent to M. Hulak. The article clarified a circle of people from whom the members of the organization could get information about Slovak and Czech figures. The considered material constitutes a reliable factual basis for further reconstruction of the echo of the views of Slovak and Czech leaders in the ideology of the Brotherhood. It is proved that Cyril and Methodius members were well aware of J. Kollar's treatise On the literary reciprocity, works of P. Šafárik in Russian translations, etc. There was also active interaction with the literary heritage of J. Kollár and V. Hanka that influenced the work of Mykola Kostomarov.
Drawing on a monograph in progress, the first part of this study gives a brief biographical overview, outlines the state of research and describes the work of the Czech composer Ernst ...Förchtgott/Arnošt Bohaboj-Tovačovský (1825-1874). The second part examines two case studies that illustrate the coexistence, in the composer, of both a purely national mindset (Tovačovský’s use of themes of the Czech Middle Ages, specifically Hussitism) and a global mindset manifested in a musical form of Slavic reciprocity (Tovačovský’s arrangements of Croatian folk music). The study as a whole confirms the importance of Tovačovský for Czech choral music of the third quarter of the nineteenth century and his unique position on the Slavic music scene in Vienna.
Analýza literárnych diel, korešpondencie a ďalších materiálov členov tajnej politickej organizácie v Kyjeve Cyrilometodské bratstvo ukazuje, že jej členovia poznali literárne a vedecké diela Jána ...Kollára, Pavla Jozefa Šafárika, Václava Hanku a Ľudovíta Štúra. Vďaka využitiu biografických a v menšej miere aj bibliografických metód sa podarilo objasniť, že členovia Bratstva poznali konkrétne diela, išlo napríklad o knihu, ktorú V. Hanka poslal M. Hulakovi. Štúdia identifikuje okruh osôb, od ktorých mohli členovia organizácie získať informácie o slovenských a českých osobnostiach. Spracovaný materiál predstavuje spoľahlivý faktografický základ pre ďalšiu rekonštrukciu ohlasov na názory slovenských a českých predstaviteľov o ideológii Bratstva. Je dokázané, že členovia Cyrilometodského bratstva dobre poznali rozpravu J. Kollára O literárnej vzájomnosti, diela P. Šafárika v ruských prekladoch a pod. Aktívna bola aj interakcia s literárnym dedičstvom J. Kollára a V. Hanku, ktoré ovplyvnili tvorbu Mykolu Kostomarova.
Prvi dio članka donosi podatke o češkom skladatelju Ernstu Förchtgottu / Arnoštu Bohaboj-Tovačovskom (1825-1874). Oslanjajući se na monografiju u nastajanju, daje se kratak biografski prikaz ...razdijeljen 1851. godinom: Tovačovski je dotad živio u Moravskoj (u rodnom Tovačovu i Olomoucu), potom se preselio u Beč, gdje je bio traženi pjevač, učitelj i vodeća ličnost slavenske glazbene scene. Pregled stanja istraživanja života i djela Tovačovskog jasno pokazuje temeljni doprinos muzikologa Vladimíra Gregora i Bohumíra Štědroňa. Skladateljev rad prikazan je kroz osnovne karakteristike i temeljne klasifikacijske pojmove.
Drugi dio članka sastoji se od dviju istraživačkih tema koje pokazuju određeni (u pozitivnom smislu) »rascjep« identiteta, tj. suživot čisto nacionalnog/patriotskog načina razmišljanja (teme češkog srednjeg vijeka, posebno husitizma s početka 15. stoljeća) i transnacionalnoga/globalnoga razmišljanja, koje se očituje u glazbenom polju slavenske uzajamnosti(obradbe hrvatske narodne glazbe Tovačovskog). Studija u cjelini potvrđuje da se Tovačovský s pravom nazivao »konzulom slavenske glazbe u Beču« te ukazuje na njegovu važnost za češku zborsku glazbu treće četvrtine 19. stoljeća.
