Politik in književnik Ivan Tavčar je med letoma 1877 in 1880 živel v Kranju. To obdobje njegovega življenja je bilo že tematizirano v številnih biografijah, vendar fragmentarno, s prikazom izbranih ...področij in zapostavljanjem preostalih. Pričujoči prispevek predstavlja poskus v celoto povezati dostopne podatke o Tavčarjevem bivanju v Kranju, ki so razpršeni po časopisju, arhivskih virih, strokovnih razpravah in drugem gradivu. Analiza nekoliko presenetljivo razkriva, da je Tavčarjevo javno delovanje v Kranju dokumentirano le površno, medtem ko so njegove ljubezenske zveze v gradivu podrobno zabeležene.
In response to recent pluralization of modernism, the author adopts Jameson’s singular modernity to argue that, in the capitalist world-system divided between hegemonic and dependent literary fields, ...modernism exists only through its particular manifestations. During the 1968 student revolt, Slovenian late modernism – in-between peripheral phenomenon caught in the Cold War antagonism – displays a universal feature of the period: its transformative impulse resulting from “the imaginative proximity of social revolution” (Anderson). Embedded in the global insurgency, Slovenian innovative trends of the 1960s synchronized with western centers of modernity. It brought together critical theory and experimental artistic practice to reshape writing, literary institution, the subject, and society at large.
Članek obravnava prevod novele Amy pisateljice Mire Mihelič, ki ga je za francosko antologijo Nouvelles Slovènes (1969) pripravila Elza Jereb. Besedilo, v katerem se klasične pripovedne tehnike ...prepletajo z zametki modernističnih prijemov, ima tudi nekaj skladenjskih posebnosti, med katerimi najbolj izstopa za slovenščino nenavadno pogosta raba deležnika in deležniških struktur. Prevod odlikujeta zvestoba in natančnost, pa tudi izrazit posluh za ritem. Skladenjska in nekatera druga drobna odstopanja nikjer ne spreminjajo pomena izvirnika, temveč, nasprotno, ta pomen ohranjajo in utrjujejo. Preprost poseg, kot je denimo poenotenje kurzivnega zapisovanja določenih izrazov, brez nasilnega poenostavljanja pripomore k jasnosti besedila. Prevajalska rešitev, ki (kvazi) fonetični zapis govorjene nemščine pretvarja v knjižno različico, pa nas navaja k razmisleku o alternativnih možnostih, ki bi morda v polnejši meri ohranile družbenozgodovinske konotacije in komični naboj izvirnika.
Quantitative approaches in studying literature already have a long tradition, reaching back to the period before digital humanities became an established field in the humanities. An important impetus ...for the establishment of quantitative methods in the humanities was provided by increasing computer power and increasingly extensive corpuses of machine-readable words. Theoretical concepts refer to the new methodological paradigms as distant reading. Even though it is supposed to replace close reading, it has repeatedly been shown that traditional research forms the necessary basis for relevant quantitative research and new relevant findings. Stylometry, or quantitative analysis of style, applies statistical methods to literary texts. The analysis entails text comparison in terms of similarities and differences in measurable text characteristics, such as the most frequent words. This is a well-proven method, which, however, has certain limitations. Stylometry is a text-immanent method that does not provide absolutely valid answers or general findings about style. In addition, the definition of measurable characteristics and the comparison method used remain in the domain of the researchers and their familiarity with the material. However, it allows a simultaneous overview of a large collection of texts and hence reaches beyond the established canon incorporating trivial literature and translated literature as an important segment of national literature, especially in its early periods. Stylometric analysis identifies text patterns, which can either be confirmed by qualitative research or can indicate the necessity for a new approach to traditional research. The visualization of results of the stylometric analysis of Slovenian narrative literature from the first half of the seventeenth century to the first original Slovenian narrative in 1836 shows the development of Slovenian narrative literature by period, with identifiable hallmarks of certain authors, and within individual periods and genres. Certain links indicate a need for further research.
Prispevek najprej predstavi Foucaultovo dvojno pojmovanje heterotopije in Böhmejevo razumevanje atmosfere v okviru ekološke estetike narave, nato se osredini na heterotopije vrtov v Tavčarjevih ...črticah in noveletah ter jih opazuje tudi z ekokritiškega vidika. V čustveno, mestoma impresionistično ubesedenih vrtovih, ki referirajo tudi na stvarne lokacije, je prepoznavna matrica locusa amoenus. Zapisujejo se kot drugi prostori, največkrat v vlogi romantične heterotopije, kar pomeni, da od referenčnih družbenih prostorov 19. stoletja niso povsem izolirani, ampak vzpostavljajo z njimi relacijska razmerja, jih zrcalijo in spodkopavajo.
Ketteju je ritem osnovna prvina poezije, zato le redko uporablja prosti verz, kar je v nasprotju z ugotovitvami starejše literarne zgodovine. Obenem je njegov metrum izjemno raznolik. Iz ...tradicionalne poezije in ljudske pesmi je prevzemal vse, kar je bilo neregularno: neregularno silabotoničnost in toničnost, mešanje silabotoničnega in toničnega verza, nečisto rimo. Prav tako je eksperimentiral s silabotoniko: neurejeno je mešal trozložne metrume, urejeno mešal jambe in troheje v lirski poeziji (a ne v epiki kot pesniki 19. stoletja).
